Louis' POV...

After Joan fell asleep I left the hospital. I placed two of my best men at her door to protect her.

I jumped into my black SUV and drove down to the location that Jim sent me. I pulled up at the side of the road where he was waiting for me.

I climbed out of my car and walked to where he was standing.

"You're late." He said briefly.

"I had errands to run, places to be." I replied shortly and he frowned when he looked at me.

"How is she?" He asked and I raised a single eyebrow at him.

"She's fine." I replied blankly. "How's your son?"

"He's getting better. He won't be able to walk for a while but he'll be fine." He said and my eyebrows shot up in amusement.

"Why are we here?" I asked and Jim pointed at something in the distance. How am I supposed to see when it's dark?

"They're here." He said with a smile on his face. "Looks like we're crashing a party tonight." He said and I smirked.

"That sounds astonishing." I replied sarcastically and he chuckled. "Aren't we going undercover anymore?" I asked and Jim shook his head.

"Not when you're the most feared mafia boss." He replied confidently. "The Russians heard about your killing spree." He explained and I frowned.

"Alright." I said before walking ahead of Jim.

We stopped in front of a large warehouse. A boy came walking towards us and I raised an eyebrow at him.

"Name." He demanded.

"Valentino." I said before pulling my gun out and shooting the boy in the head. I walked past his lifeless body and into the warehouse.

"Fedorov." I said before standing in the center of the room.

He stood up from his seat and came to stand in front of me. He had red hair and he was wearing a crappy brown suit. His two brothers were sitting on a couch looking at me.

"Well if it isn't, Louis Valentino." Sven said with wide eyes. "What brings you here?" He asked and I gave him a clean smirk.

"I heard you were asking about me." I said before glaring at him.

"Well I have. It is an honour to be standing in your presence." He said and I raised a single eyebrow at him.

"Cut to the chase." I replied blankly and he clasped his hands together.

"I'm willing to overlook the fact that you killed one of my bodyguards and offer you a deal." He said and I tilted my head while blankly staring at him.

"I'll help you take your father down." He said in a whisper. I looked over at Jim who seemed clueless.

"Word gets around fast here. I heard it from a little birdy." He explained. "So what do you say?" He asked with a smile on his face.

"There's always a catch. What do you want in return?" I asked and he took in a breath.

"Your loyalty." He said and I nodded twice.

"Why not." I said before shaking hands with him.

"Meet me here in two days at nine pm sharp." He said slowly.

"Why?"

"Because that is when your father and I discuss business." He said and I smiled briefly.

"I'll see you then." I said before turning away from Fedorov.

"So how about a bourbon?" I asked and Jim nodded.

"My place?" He asked and I nodded. We drove to Jim's house and I parked on the sidewalk.

We entered his house and his wife and son were sitting in the living room.

"Hinata." I said and he looked up at me. "You've been paying the Russians visits haven't you?" I asked and he looked to the ground.

"What are you talking about Louis. My son has no business with the Russians." Jim said and I raised my eyebrow at him.

I took my gun out of my waistband and pointed it at his wife's head.

"Tell me the truth before I put a bullet in her head." I said and Hinata's eyes widened.

"Fine. I went behind your backs." He confessed and I averted my gun from the mother's head to the son's.

"I had a good reason." He said quickly.

"Tell me tiny Jim. What made you betray us?" I asked and he sighed.

"Fedorov isn't working with you he's working against you." Hinata said and it honestly didn't surprise me. "He hasn't told your father who you are and that you want to kill him yet... because he has his own motives."

"And what is that?" I asked curiously.

"He said I'd find out in due time." Hinata said and I placed my gun back into my waistband.

"It was a pleasure doing business with you. But I no longer need your help." I said before exiting the room. "Goodnight Mrs Pearl." I said with a smile on my face.

I drove home in silence which gave me time to think. I drove through the gates a few yards away from my house before I parked in my garage.

I headed straight upstairs to Chelsea's room and found her curled up on her bed. I sat at the edge of her bed and she turned around to face me.

"Sorry about earlier." I said and she smiled dryly.

"I'm sorry too. I'm just dealing with a lot right now. I guess I felt bad because I came all this way to support you and you made me feel unappreciated." She explained and I nodded in understanding.

"I won't do it again." I said before winking at her and she smiled broadly this time.

"Thanks bestie." She said in her brittish accent and I smiled before pulling her into a hug. I'm not this nice to just anyone. I have a very small list of people that I truly care about.

"How's Joan?" She asked and I smiled softly when I heard her name.

"She's doing great." I said softly.

"Wow you've got it bad. In all the years that I've known you I have never seen you this in love." Chelsea said so I rolled my eyes at her.

"I wish I could say the same about you." I replied teasingly and she hit my arm before laughing.

"Cupid can kiss my arse because I am not getting married again." Chelsea said and I chuckled slightly.

"What if it's the one this time?" I asked her and she shook her head.

"Even then they'd still find a way to hurt me." She said and I pulled her into a tight hug.

"I'll deal with that bastard. Tim right?" I asked and she laughed before nodding.

"Yes and no you can't kill him. People will just think it was me." She said and I gave her a bored look.

"You killed his lover." I said and she rolled her eyes at me.

"Nobody knows that and I know that you won't tell them." She said and I just shook my head at her.

"Fine I won't kill Tim. Just don't go back to him. Once is a mistake-"

"Twice is cheating. I know." Chelsea cut me off. I laid down next to her on the bed and we stared at the ceiling while talking about life and everything else in between.

I missed having someone to talk to about absolutely everything. I don't have to protect Chelsea from my world because she's used to it and her life isn't constantly in danger.

Come to think of it she's kinda like the sister I never had. I said goodnight when we were done talking and headed to my own room.

I'm planning on asking Joan to move in with me. I want her with me all the time, she'd also be safer this way.

My phone vibrated in my pocket so I took it out and placed it against my ear.

"Mr Valentino you need to come to the hospital immediately. It's Joan." A woman said on the other end of the line. I ended the call and took my keys from off my nightstand and dribbled downstairs before speeding off to the hospital.
