The cab dropped us at my doorstep. After everything that he'd done for me I couldn't let him go just like that. He walked me home.

It was raining heavily and he was soaking wet. He could wait at my place untill the rain stopped but he told me he had some work at his home and he needed to reach early.

I dug through my tote for my key and unlocked the door. I tried to flick on a light but it didn't turn on.

"They have power cuts in residential areas during heavy rains." He explained.

I switched on my phone's flashlight.

"Wait over here." I said.

"The cab is waiting." He reminded me.

"Just wait it'll take a second." I said and quickly ran into the kitchen and found a flask of hot water. My roommate must've kept it.

I poured the water into a plastic cup and grabbed a small sachet of ginger green tea. I took a detour to the laundry room and grabbed a towel and found a portable umbrella hanging behind the door.

I rushed to the door, praying that I do not trip and spill the water while holding an umbrella, towel, a glass of water and balancing my phone's flashlight. I glanced at Leo's silhouette, he looked like he would tell me that I've stalled a lot of time.

"Here." I handed him the towel and the umbrella. "Dry yourself first."

He mumbled a thanks and ran the towel through his dark hair.

"I'd have invited you in if my roommate wasn't such a clean freak."

My roommate Amy would actually go crazy if she found a damp spot on our floor.

After he'd finished drying his hair, I handed him the paper cup and the sachet of tea bag.

"Drink this up quick and you won't catch a cold."

He tore the packet and dipped the tea in hot water. I don't know if the darkness was fooling me but I certainly saw a smile on his handsome face.

"Be safe. Text me when you reach home."

He laughed. "You're asking me to be safe?"

Ugh typical guy Now there was that asshole Leo I knew. I have no clue why all the guys in the world considered themselves to be superhero like strong. I guess maybe it was because no one had ever raised guys with the fear that something bad might happen to them if they're alone at night.

"Yes I am. It's dark, stormy and scary. I am concerned about you and I have a worrisome personality so do me a favour and text me because I'm not sure I'd be able to sleep if I'm worried about you reaching home."

Even I was surprised by my concern towards him. A few days ago, I would've sworn I wanted him dead and now I found myself caring about him.

"You know Meg, you're cute when you're not being cocky."

Wait what? This is the second time that he called me cute in the same day. I couldn't believe that Mr. Grumpy would actually compliment me twice. Nor could I believe that I was keeping a track of his compliments. Seriously, what has gotten into me today?

"You too." I said crossing my arms.

His lips curled into a smile. "Thank you Meg. Good night."

"Good night Leo."

I stood, leaning on the doorframe as I watched him walk till the cab. When he got in the cab, I felt a strong tug within my stomach. Why did I feel this strange emotion while watching him go?

The cab had vanished out of my sight. I realised that I'd been standing on the porch and letting rain inside our house. I quickly shut the door behind me. My roommate Amy was very particular about maintaining cleanliness. It was a good thing that she slept early otherwise she'd have scolded me for wearing a dripping wet coat and walking all across the living room.

I glanced at my phone notification. It was a text from Leo saying he just reached home. It was cute that he remembered what I said.

I made my way to the laundry room. It was really sweet of him to have lent me his coat. He wasn't so bad maybe I shouldn't have been so quick to judge him.

As I removed his coat, I felt something heavy in the pocket. I traced my fingers on that cold metallic object. I grabbed my phone and switched on the torch to see the object.

OH. MY. GOD! IS IT REALLY A....

How would he have this? But more importantly, why was he having this? The object fell from my hand onto the floor. My hands were shaking way too badly to pick it up again.

Breathe Meg, Breathe.

Finally, I composed myself and crouched down. Yes, there was an actual gun in Leo's jacket. I knew this wasn't a replica because this was way too heavy to be a replica. I grabbed his jacket and dug into the pockets. Inside his inner pocket, I found a box with bullets.

Why was Leo carrying gun and bullets with him?
