Gigi's announcement party was going smoothly despite the initial hiccups. God, I need to update 'rescued a client and escaped a gun fight' in my resume. I was sitting by the bar and drinking. A night like this needed something strong.

"Not fond of dancing?" Leo asked. He was observing everyone else on the dance floor.

I straightened up. I didn't notice him sitting next to me.

"It's too crazy to dance."

He chuckled, "It's crazy by my standards as well."

"And thank you for covering up for us. I need this to be a secret until I find out who was behind it all. I suspect there is a traitor." He said.

"Actually, thank you. I don't remember feeling this alive before."

He cocked his eyebrow and eyed me as he sipped his drink.

"And I'm sorry for being rude to you. I mean I do not agree with what you guys do but it is not my place to judge your life choices."

"Would you be surprised to tell you that I actually agree with you?"

His question surprised me. Maybe, he wasn't that bad. Sure he was a gangster, a dangerous and extremely hot gangster. But wasn't it important for me to have him on my side?

The bartender poured us new drinks.

"Cheers to new beginnings." He said

"And to staying alive." I added.

As we clinked our glasses and drank, I noticed Leo tense up. His gaze fell on an old couple approaching us.

"What's the matter?" I asked him.

"That's Mama and Papa." Leo said.

"You seem terrified of your parents."

"You would be too if your father was Don Moretti."  He answered.

"Fair enough."

Leo's parents approached him. He greeted his parents with a hug and kiss on their cheeks and they did the same. However, I noticed his father's gaze on me and flinched uncomfortably. He had that same scrutinizing gaze as Leo's that was trying to analyze me.

"Wouldn't you introduce us to your girlfriend?" Leo's father said, looking at me.

"She's Meg isn't she?" His mother added. "I've heard so much about you from everyone. She's even prettier than what they say."

I choked on my drink. Okay, what the fuck was going on?

"Mama, there's some misunderstanding. Meg and I are not dating. She's a professional acquaintance." Leo said, trying to explain.

"Yes. I'm just Gigi and Andrew's wedding planner." I added.

Both of them burst out laughing.

"Yeah sure, that's what you call your girlfriends." His mother said turning to me, "And don't you take his I'm not ready to get serious crap. He should be thinking of marriage by now."

I snorted and Leo rolled his eyes. Okay, I admit this was fun.

"No need to hide it anymore. The word is out on street that you traced a mugger because he stole your girlfriend's purse. You think you could hide anything from your father?"

Oh great, as if things weren't already rough. Now his family - his mafia family thinks I'm his girlfriend. Good lord, why does such stuff keep happening to me?
