Ava's POV

Waking up in most random places after being knocked unconscious had now become a common occurrence in my life. The only difference about this time is the captor. I did not expect to see Nate. Not so soon at least. My eyes were bind with a black cloth and my hands were also tied. I was more terrified by the fact that Alex was no here near me. I was all alone in this room or wherever I was. I struggled against the ropes and it did nothing good.

"You should stop struggling." someone said.

I stiffened. "Who is it?" I asked. "Nate?"

"I don't go by that name now, Ava." he said as he removed my blindfold. I blinked as the light firstly irritated my eyes. Then I looked at him. My brother.

"That is your name Nathaniel."

"It was a long time ago. I am Rocco now." he said. I would've never recognized him if it weren't for the picture Amadeo showed me earlier.

"Where is my baby?" I asked for Alex.

"Your baby. I had heard about that kid. You are saying that he is yours? Wow, Ava you are too young for that. I mean how could you change so much?"

"You are the one to ask? You don't get to ask me those questions Nate. You left severing all ties with us. Tell me where is my child, please."

"He is alright. I have some questions for you first. Answers those truthfully and you can get back to your kid." he said. How dare he?

"I'm not answering any questions unless you bring my child back to me."

He raised an eyebrow. "You are in no position to make demands, Ava."

"I don't care. I am not doing anything until you get him back to me." I said asserting. He stared at me. I could see his face clenching as he glared at me. I returned his but was panicking inside. After a while he said, "Fine." he clicked on his earpiece and said something in Italian.

A moment later a big burly man entered with Alex in his arms. He appeared so small in that man's arms. I closed my eyes in relief. Thank god. I tried to get up absolutely forgetting the fact my hands were tied.

"Untie me please." I said.

He shook his head. "No. You wanted to see him; you did. The only thing you will do now is answer my questions."

"You won't even let me hold my baby." I said incredulously. He rolled his eyes. "I'm not repeating what I said."

I was shocked to see my brother being so heartless. At that moment I decided no matter what happens I won't reveal Alex's true parentage. A tear trickled down my cheek. I just wanted to make sure my baby is okay but this man in front of me won't let me. He is not my brother. He is Rocco after all.

"Now I'm going to ask you questions which you would answer truthfully and believe me Ava you would not like the outcome if you lie." he said.

"Let me go. Please." I begged.

"Oh sure. I will let you go. But where would you go? Back to Amadeo Rossi?" he asked.

I gasped.

"That is my first question actually. How the hell did you end up here and most importantly with Amadeo Rossi. " he asked.

I remain silent. At this point I didn't know what to answer him.

"Fucking speak Ava." He yelled.

I flinched at his tone. "He-He kidnapped me along with Alex from our... my hometown. And then on we have being staying with him." I said.

"What did he want with you?" He asked.

"He thought I might be of some help in finding you. He said you had messed with him."

He had a sinister smile on his face. "Oh yeah. I fucked him up really good. Thanks to my I never had more fun in my life. Tell why did he keep you even after you have proven to be pretty useless?"

I blinked. I had never thought of this until this very moment. He kept me in his house cared for us even after I had no idea regarding my own brother.

"Cat caught your tongue dear sister?" He said smiling at me. His looks absolutely disgusted me.

"I don't know. " I said and I looked away.

"You don't. Huh. Why do I find it so hard to believe? He must have been planning something. Tell me the truth Ava. "

"I told you already. I know nothing."

He shook his head. "Oh no you do know something. If you don't plan on telling me soon than I have more creative ways to get that information from you. So, for the last time I'm asking you tell me what the fuck is he planning?" He screamed as banged the table with his fist.

Alex woke up crying from the noise. Oh Alex. He cried for me as he saw me.

"I told you Nate. I know nothing. Please let me and my child go. Or at least let me hold him."

He stepped in front of and bend down to my level. "Don't force me to do bad things Ava. I have hold back till now, but I won't anymore. He stepped back and walked towards the burly man who was holding Alex. No.

He grabbed Alex from him. Alex was crying and struggling in his arms.

"Wait what are you doing?" I asked frantically.

"You will tell me the truth now or your boy would suffer for it. I didn't want things to go this way but you left me no choice."

"Please Nathaniel. Don't do this to me. Don't harm him. How can you even think of doing something? He is my son." I said in disbelief.

He laughed. "That's just it, Ava. He is your son. He means nothing to me."

Oh my God! My poor baby.

"Do whatever you want to do with me leave Alex alone." I said begging him.

"What's the fun in that?" he said.

"Tell me what I asked for Ava. There is still time." He said.

I was crying hysterically and begged him. "Please Nathaniel I do not know anything."

Oh God. Please keep my baby safe. I prayed. Suddenly the door opened with a bang. Two men entered with guns.

"What the fuck?" Said Nate.

A shot was fired sending the burly man to the ground. The man who fired the shot turned around. My breath hit hitched. Amadeo!

He had a look of anger on his face. Soon more men entered the room. Shouts and gun fires came from outside the room.

"How the fuck did you get in here?" Asked Nate.

The second man who I hadn't noticed yet was Daniel who quickly came over to me.

"Daniel?" I said.

"Hey sunshine. It's okay we got you." He said as he untied me. My hands were free. I attempted to reach for Alex but Daniel stopped me.

"Daniel, Alex." I said.

"It's okay we will get him back to you." He said.

Nate was yelling into his earpiece for backup but no one came. Amadeo's men had taken over the place.

"Long time no see Rocco. Or should I say Nathaniel." said Amadeo.

"Oh, you played it wrong Rossi. Again. These people" he said pointing towards Alex and I, "mean nothing to me."

"That isn't surprising coming from a guy like you. We have surrounded you. Now hand over the child." he said.

"Oh, I'm not doing that. You see I maybe a heartless bastard but you are the sick sentimental son of a bitch I know you to be. you seem to have developed an attachment to my so-called sister." he said with a menacing smile.

No! I whispered.

"Your sister may not mean to you but you will most certainly regret hurting that innocent child. After all he is your flesh and blood." said Amadeo.

It felt as if a bucket of ice was poured over me. Oh my God! He knows! Nate looked equally shocked.

"What are you rambling about?" he asked.

"Catherine Gomez. Your longtime girlfriend was pregnant with your child when you left her. Your departure was so sudden that she couldn't tell you about the child. You being the absolute bastard left your family behind forsaking all responsibilities. She died giving birth to your child and since then your sister has been raising him on her own." he said.

I closed my eyes and cried. I didn't want anybody to find about Alex. Especially not Nate. I opened my eyes to find Nate staring at me. He must have seen the truth in my eyes. He shook his head.

"You are fucking lying." he shouted.

"I'm not and you know that very well. Look at the child he resembles you. At least your old self. Ask your sister about it then." He also said shouting. That's it I could not take it anymore.

"Daniel please get him. Please. I don't want him to be hurt." I said pleading to Daniel.

He looked at me and nodded. "Just hand over the kid. We might even let you go." Daniel said carefully as he went towards Nathaniel. Daniel quickly snatched Alex from Nate and backed off. He gave Alex me.

"Mama!" he cried. I hugged him to my chest tightly. Oh, thank god. He is alright.

"Shh, baby. You're okay. Mama got you." I said Daniel quickly stepped in front of and ducked us behind him.

"Surrender now Rocco." said Amadeo raising his gun.

"Never." said Nathaniel. I heard a clink, like something dropping to the floor. Smoke filled the room. I quickly shielded Alex with my body. The smoke made me cough.

"Daniel get them out of here!" Amadeo yelled.

And just like that Nate was gone.
