Rayver POV

The next morning at school, Marcus' killing spread like a wildfire. There were different rumours, some were even hilarious, if only it wasn't about a death.

But the most said rumours were the ones that got me worried. I think about seventy percent of the people said that they knew who the killer was.

And it was none else than the Queen. Whoever the heck that was, anyway.

Thankfully, Mr Luciano let me go here by their service car, and not with Regina. I could only handle a certain amount of attention. Which is just a few.

I noticed that I got here earlier than Ina today. And yeah, I'm going to start calling her 'Ina' in my head from today on. Regina is too long.

{A/N: Ina pronounced 'Eena'}

I approached my friends that were huddled around mine and Fiona's locker. Just like everyone else at the school, it looked like they were also talking about the murder.

As I neared them, Miley was the first to notice me, calling my name over them immediately.

"Have you heard?" She asked me before I even got my greetings said.

"Who hasn't?" I asked sarcastically, regretting my words right after. No, Rayver! You guys aren't at the sarcasm level of friendship yet.

Before I could apologize though, I was cut off again.

"So are you joining?"

"I think that-- wait, what? Join what??" I asked confused out of my wits.

Why was she asking me to join a murder..?

She wants you dead. Everybody does.

You idiot. Wait for her answer.

"The Annual Scholastic Decathlon, of course, silly. What did you think we were talking about?" Miley said, giggling.

I scratched the back of my head sheepishly. A slight blush of embarrassment on the tip of my ears.

"You thought we were talking about the death of Marcus, weren't you?" Jordan said, smirking at me. I nodded so he continued, "Yeah, we don't talk about those kinds of these things. Plus, it's obvious to who did it anyway."

I frowned, confused. "What? Who?"

Fiona spoke for the first time I arrived, "The Queen, who else." She said like it's obvious. "The crown mark of the Queen was a huge giveaway already."

"Who even is this queen, anyway?" I ask, feeling annoyed inside. Everyone's been talking about 'The Queen', so I can't help but feel extremely left out.

This time, they all gave me a confused look.

"Haven't we told you yesterday at lunch who the King and Queen is?" Miley voiced out, followed by nods from both Jordan and Fiona.

"Yeah, you said the King was Cavillor Fire or something, and the Queen... Was..." I trailed off, realization hitting me like a pile of bricks.

Not just hitting, straight on crashing through my skull and going through the other side.

I faintly heard someone say something about Flare or something like that, but I was not paying attention.

So, were they —they as in almost the whole school— thinking that it was Ina that killed Marcus?

A movement caught my eye, so I turned to see what it was. And, lo behold, Ina was strutting down the hallway with her usual glare and aura of confidence and danger, her friends trailing behind her.

As she walked, people leapt out of her way and clung to the lockers like their lives depended on it. And maybe it did...

I could've imagined it, or it was just my eyes playing with me, but I thought I saw her eyes glance at me in a split second.

Then again, imagination.

Plus, why would she even bother to look at someone like you?

Because you're her brother. Now stop being pessimistic.

As she got farther, the rest of the population slowly returned to their groups. But even though they did, some still gave the occasional glance to the most popular group.

"So, you gonna join at the Decathlon, Ray?" A voice made me turn my head. It was Fiona.

"Umm, I, uh... Don't know yet. I'm still quite new here so maybe I'll think about it for now." I said with a polite smile, but when I did, she turned her face away from me in an instant.

What was that about?

You're disgusting~

Would you ever shut the fuck up?! With you around, this guy's gonna stay wimpy his whole life!

Well then, that's good! My purpose would be completed.

Why, you little--

"Ray... Ray..? Ray?? Rayver!" I yelped at the loud voice and rubbed my left ear where Miley yelled at me.

"What?" I whined. It still shocks me how much I've already been comfortable enough around them to act like this.

"Didn't you hear the bell, you idiot? Come on!" Miley said, gripping my forearm and dragging me to our first period.

I could only give a small wave of goodbye to Jordan who was snickering at me and Fiona who was biting her lip and staring at me with a frown.

Seriously, what did I ever do to her?

~~

It was now lunch, and surprisingly, no one dared to bother me. Actually, everyone was very silent in the cafeteria, and there was, of course, a very thick tension in the air.

It wasn't sexual tension or awkward tension; it was the 'don't even bother to breathe in my direction' kind of tension.

And the one that people aimed to steer clear of was none other than her. Their queen, Regina.

I did some research, and I found out that 'Regina' meant Queen in Italian. Maybe that's why that's what everyone calls her.

Not that it's hard to doubt her identity. One look and you could feel her royal aura seeping out of her body.

Lunch went on like that, murmurs and stolen glances, but other than that, everything was well and dandy.

Another thing I noticed, the girl that approached me yesterday in gym, Blair Martin, was part of the King's clique.

I tilted my head as I stared at her. Her platinum blonde hair and cobalt blue eyes easily welded themselves into my heart and mind.

She's so pretty.

She doesn't think that you're handsome or even something near, though.

And even if she did think that, you shouldn't get near to her. She's bad news.

Ignoring both of the voices which I still can't place a face for each one, I got back to eating my food.

And once again, I could never know what the names of these dishes are.

~~

Sixth period. Free period.

Since I and Jordan had this period together, he decided to continue showing me around the school. Or 'campus', as he said that it was called.

He first showed me to the other gym. There were two 'gyms' on the scho- campus. The campus.

The first one was where my gym class was. Though it wasn't a gym since it was like a track. The second one was where we were right now; a basketball court.

Next, we went to a separate building just in front of the basketball gym. This one was the pool. And, wow. It was huge!

"There are many students from here that get into scholarships in sports, too. Not that they will need it because everyone here is filthy rich." Jordan had said.

Next, he showed me to the most beautiful area on the whole campus that I've ever seen. The library.

To say it was beautiful is a major understatement. There were rows and rows of neatly arranged books and three floors of bookshelves full to the brim. There was a brown, circular leather couch in the middle of the room and in the corner beside the glasses were tables.

The transparent glasses showed the track field outside, And also a few trees, making a shadow whenever the sunlight was directed to the room.

Jordan noticed the look of awe and wonder on my face. "I know what that feels like. When I first entered this library, I was ready to up and leave to stay here."

"Is that an option?" I ask, still in an amazed gaze.

He simply chuckled at me and suggested that we stay here for now until the others were done so we can all go to the movies together.

No, wait. I still want to know whether or not it is an option.

During lunch earlier, we had made plans to watch some movies at the theatre. And to be honest, I'm kind of nervous because not only will it be my first time with friends at a cinema, but it was also my first time even entering a cinema.

My life was boring before.

Don't bother living in the past.

I silently nodded to myself. The voice was right, I had a new life now and I should live in it and not in the past.

Going back to the topic, I already asked permission earlier from Mr Luciano through the phone that he bought me.

We were supposed to watch this new movie that I've forgotten the name of, so I'm more or less just winging it.

Hopefully, nothing goes wrong.
