~*Yurete iru, omokage ni. Bokura no negai eien ni hateshinai*~

Before my alarm reached the guitar solo I shut it off. I rolled out of bed and walked over to the stand up mirror leaning against the wall. Considering my day yesterday I didn't look as bad as I thought I would, but I did sleep in my clothes from yesterday, including my jacket. I stretched putting my arms into the air when a twang in my neck made me flinch. I pulled my coat collar to the side to see teeth marks and a bruise. I cursed at the memory. I'm really glad grandpa didn't see it, I'm not sure even I could fib my way out of it. I glanced down and realized that I was wearing a shirt that wasn't mine. It looked almost identical to the one I had been wearing just more black. 'When the hell...?' I stood there thinking about when I could have changed my shirt. 'Those guys cut up the other shirt I had been wearing and it was covered in blood so this must be...' My face burned as I shoved it into my knees and slid to the floor letting a loud squeak. 'Yami undressed me!?' I could die from embarrassment. I shook my head and went to shower before heading to school.

I arrived just before the smoke pit when I saw Anzu as she waved to me giving me a genuine smile. I waved back returning the smile. I walked over to see Joey doing his usual routine of being the loudest person in the group smoking. He cocked his hand to the side "Hey Yug'! I'm glad to see ya here today! We missed ya yesterday. What happened to your lip?"

"Oh I tried to jump a fence and landed on a rock." I laughed.

He turned and grabbed a girl with long red hair by her arm and pulling her towards us. "Yugi, this is Maya, she's a really good friend of mine." She had emerald green eyes and her vibrant red hair fell to the back of her thighs. She was the same height as me, about five feet. She wore a black leather jacket with a rose imprinted on the back and tight blood red skinny jeans her black combat boots reaching almost up to her knees. She gave Joey a look of pure anger before smacking his hand making him grimace.

"I was in the middle of a conversation!" She paused for a second before calming down "Now what the hell were you saying?"

"This is my friend Yugi." Gesturing towards me.

"H-Hi" I said sheepishly. She just stared at me before smiling sweetly at me and extending her hand.

"It's an honour. Any friend of Joey's is a friend of mine" I reached out to shake her hand,but she swiftly pulled me into a hug. "And since we're friends a handshake is just weird." I laughed at her enthusiasm. She turned away from us to go back to her previous conversation.

"She seems really nice" I said meeting Joeys eyes.

"Yeah, but she's a pain in the ass".

Maya popped up behind Joey putting him into a head lock. "I'm like two feet away, ever heard of discretion?" Joey starting tapping her elbow in submission and she released him. "Never heard of it." Joey mumbled. A small laugh escaped me. I heard footsteps approaching from behind me so I turned to see Yami barreling towards us. I stepped to the side so he didn't crash right into me.

"Whoa Yami. Rough night?" Joey said chuckling at him. Yami had his back to me so that I couldn't see his face.

"I just couldn't sleep, can I bum a smoke? Or two? ...or three?"

"Sure but ya owe me!" Joey handed him five smokes and Yami shot him an appreciative look.

Yami turned slightly lighting one the smokes taking a huge drag before exhaling. Now that I could see his face I knew why Joey made his previous remark. Yami's eyes were bloodshot and he had giant black bags under his eyes. He was sweating and again very jittery. He wasn't speaking a word to me as if I didn't exist, but it's not like I expected him to give me attention anyway. I had already prepared myself for this. The warning bell sounded to let us know that class was starting in five.

"Well I'll see you guys later then" I said turning to leave.

"Wait up" a deep voice said. Yami walked up beside me. "We're going to the same class so we can at least walk together right? Unless you don't want to." I was really confused. I thought he didn't want anything to do with me.

"Of course I want to!" I blurted out without restraining the emotion in my voice. My cheeks turned red as I looked the other way.

Yami only chuckled "Good, I still don't have a textbook so we can share again".

"Okay!" I felt the smile on my face shine brightly as I looked into Yami's eyes. He blinked a couple of times before looking away.

We sat with our desks pushed together sharing my textbook. After awhile we were both unbearably bored with talking only about history. "So you live all by yourself in that giant house?" I asked breaking the silence.

"Yes, both of my parents are dead so I inherited the house. It's all paid for so I don't have to worry about it being foreclosed on."

I immediately regretted asking. I didn't know what to say I just felt a sharp pain in my heart at my memories.

"Im assuming you live with your grandfather? Do your parents live away?" I forgot he spoke to gramps on the phone.

"Yeah I live with him...." I trailed off not wanting to answer the next question. I felt tears in my eyes, but I wouldn't let them escape. I took a deep breath realizing Yami was still waiting. "My mother was murdered by my father and then he took his own life afterwards." I whispered the words. I couldn't believe I just told him that. Why didn't I just lie like I always do?

'I don't want to lie to Yami'.

I hadn't told anyone that. Not even Anzu or Joey. Yami just sat there letting my words sink in struggling to find the right words to say. His expression spoke for him though when I looked into his eyes I could see that he felt the same pain. The pain of grief and tragedy. I changed the subject. "So that whole mansion to yourself huh? That's gotta be awesome".

Yami chuckled "Yeah. It's great." How his tone was genuine but his face said sarcasm. The next words he said were spoken so quietly as if they were meant to be thought. "Always alone." His eyes flashed up to me "I'm having a party at my house tonight do you want to come?"

Shocked by the invitation I just nodded my head. Yami laughed at me.

"Give me your number and I'll text you the deets." We exchanged numbers before the teacher announced that history was over and were switching to English.

It was almost the end of class and my gaze drifted over to Yami. I could feel the concern on my face as I watched him. He was sweating with one of his legs shaking uncontrollably. His eyes shifting from his desk to the clock and then back to his desk and then back to the clock. Instantly he shot up out of his desk making me jump grabbing his binder and taking two steps before the bell went for dismissal.

'I must say, that was some fine timing'

"Hey Yugi, did Yami tell you about the party tonight?" Anzu was holding her books near her chest smiling down at me.

"Yeah, are you going to?" She let out a cute giggle.

"Everybody's going! He always throws parties there every weekend apparently. He's like the Gatspy of our generation! Anyway what are you planning on wearing tonight?" She raised on eyebrow.

I fanned my hands to the sides of my jacket looking down at myself then back to Anzu.

"This?" She laughed and pulled my arm.

"I'm taking you shopping, my treat. Think of it as my apology for being rude!"

"Thanks Anzu." I smiled at her change of attitude towards me.

She took me to the mall making me try on various things. We shopped around for almost three hours stopping to get smoothies in between. "Perfect! This is perfect for you tonight!" She squealed. The outfit consisted of a tight black undershirt that hugged my slim features and a red leather jacket with black interior and the collar popped. The leather collar around my neck was a very dark red almost black but when the light was reflecting on it it was more of a burgundy. It had two metallic bumps on either side of the lock. For my legs I had a black pair of tight jeans with pointy toes leather shoes also having metallic studs.

"You and Yami both rock this style! Though he's a bit more intense then you." She winked at me. I could feel myself blush. Yami worked this way better than me. His style matched his personality, cool and confident where I was the opposite. I have to admit looking at myself in the mirror I really did like this new me. "Let's stop at my place before we head to the party, there's one more thing I want to do for you."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Just wait here by the door I'll be right back!" Anzu ran up the stair as I heard her ruffle around in her bedroom before coming back down. "Close your eyes and don't move." She said sternly. I shut my eyes trying to be as still as possible. I felt something touch my face as she drew around the perimeter of my eye flicking her wrist out just at the corners. "Done! Your free to move now." She giggles. When I opened my eyes she turned me towards a mirror. My big soft eyes were now rimmed with black drawing all of my attention to amethyst circles.
"Whoa." Was all I could manage. Anzu giggled. "It's almost eight, we should start making our way there." I nodded as we walked out the door.
We arrived at his mansion as we stood in awe. I snapped out it and took out my phone to text gramps saying I wouldn't be home tonight or that I would be late. We entered the house to hear booming music on every floor. There were people everywhere. Anzu wasn't kidding when she said everyone was going. It was like the whole student body was here plus some faces I didn't recognize. We entered the kitchen which was connected to the living room and not only was it huge it was completely open. There was no walls separating the rooms. Anzu turned to me yelling over the blaring music.
"We should try to find Joey! I'm sure he's already been here for awhile!" I nodded in response "Let's go see out back!"
We headed out the back door and sure enough Joey was already wasted being more loud and obnoxious then normal. 'Yep, he's drunk alright' I laughed in inwardly. He was standing at one end of a table and Maya stood at the other. "Hey Joey! Hey Maya!" He looked at me with glazed eyes.
"Yug'! Diggin' the new threads man! Lookin' damn fly!" He slurred every word. Maya laughed at him "Yugi you should take his place. I'm kicking his ass in beer pong."
"Pfft whatever Maya. Yugi's going to wipe the floor with you!" Joey grabbed my hand putting a ping pong ball into it and he set up the next round of drinks.
"Ladies first." I said giving a slight bow. She laughed returning the bow.
"Such a gentlemen! Joey could learn some manners from you!" He growled at her.
Maya closed one eye and through the ball. It span around in the cup before hitting the bottom. I took the ball out and drank the contents. It was my turn now. As I threw the ball it slipped off the top of my finger going up way to high and hitting Maya in the chest before falling into one of her cups. Joey erupted in laughter "Cleavage shot! I didn't think you had it in you Yugi!" Me and Maya snickered and she drank from the cup. The game lasted only a few minutes neither one of us missing a shot. A couple of guys from the smoke pit came staggering over to us.
"Jooooooey! We need smokes!" These guys were so wasted they had to hold each other up just to walk. One of them looked down at me. "Hey it's the midget! Even you know how to have fun sometimes eh?" He reached out ruffling my hair. I blushed at the contact as it gave me a warm friendly feeling. They took the smokes from Joey before the guy on the right started to tip over, his arm on the shoulder of his friend pulling him down with him. They crashed into the tabled snapping it's flimsy plastic in half drinks flying everywhere. Normally I would have been concerned about their safety but because I was tipsy it was the funniest thing I had ever seen. I grabbed joeys sleeve trying to hold myself up while Joey just had his mouth open laughing with no sound coming out.
"Damn it you guys! I just bought this outfit!" Anzu had an angry look on her face, but it quickly faded as she started to laugh. Maya was bent over with her hands on her knees cackling.
The guy who ruffled my hair stood up and brushed himself off but remained covered in beer. He looked at me "I'm Tristan by the way. Sorry about that terrible first impression." He looked down at his buddy who was passed out.
"I'm Yugi, nice to meet you". I said in between bursts of laughter. "Has anyone seen Yami yet? He's the host isn't he?" I looked around unable to find him.
"I think he's upstairs, but tread lightly if you go up there. It gets pretty hardcore the higher you go." Tristan glanced at me before taking his jacket and shirt off jumping into the pool. It was May so it was getting pretty warm out.
Joey, Anzu, Maya and I went into the kitchen where the island was. There was every type of liquor so finding something you liked was easy enough. Joey had dared us all to take tequila shots so he poured a bunch cutting up a lime and grabbing the salt from on top of the stove. I had never really drank before, but for the first time in a long time I felt good and I wasn't going to waste this night.
"Kay so, like your gunna take the shot then lick the salt off your hand and suck on the lime after. It will make it like waaaaay less harsh for ya." Joey said handing me the shot and pouring the salt onto my hand. I took it quickly and did as instructed licking the salt and sucking the lime. My face twisted for the first second from the tequila, then from the sourness of the lime, but it stopped quickly. All four of us took about five shots each before we shook our heads in agreement that we could not do anymore. Joey was about to take another one when someone bumped into him and he spilled it all over the island. He grabbed the guy by his shirt.
"Watch where your going dumb fuck!" He said raising his fist, but me and Maya jumped and pulled him back. The guy apologized and seemed to be as drunk as Joey was.
"Okay, Joey your cut off you've had enough" Maya said taking the shot out of his hand. "Let's go dance and sweat some of that liquor out of you." She giggles and pulled Joey to the dance floor.
"Yugi do you want to dance with me?" Anzu asked but didn't make eye contact with me.
"Actually I'm going to go find Yami." Anzu gave me a sad look before walking towards Joey and Maya. Yami didn't look good at all today. I had wondered if maybe he was sick. I headed out of the kitchen to the main foyer and made me way up the stairs grabbing onto the railing as I staggered and almost fell back. Those shots were starting to kick in. I got to the second floor and walked around but there was no sight of Yami. I made my way to the third floor opening up one of the doors to walk in on two unrecognizable people laying in the bed. There bare legs sticking out from under the covers. They gasped looking at me.
"Sorray!" I blushed and laughed shutting the door behind me. I could hear my voice starting to slur. I checked the other rooms occupied by people, but not finding Yami. I walked up the last flight of stairs to the forth floor. I walked into a room that had the door wide open. The people in here looked they were in a gang of bikers or something. To my surprise none of them acted any different as I made my through them. My eyes drifted to the couch that some people were sitting at and then down the the coffee table in front. One guy leaned over the table and sniffed extremely hard. He pulled back up wiping his nose of the white power that lingered. My eyes widened. 'Is this where Yami has been?' I walked up to a girl with short black hair, piercings all over her face and tattoos, liquor giving me the courage to approach her which I would normally not be able to do.
"Hey have you seen Yami?"
She looked at me with a harsh expression. "Do I look like a fucking GPS?" I scowled at her.
"You've got enough metal in your face to be one." her harsh expression changed as she laughed at my remark.
"He's been in the bathroom for about an hour." Was all she said before turning back into her circle of friends.
I felt my heart start to beat fast. 'He's been in there for an hour and no one has bothered to check on him!?' I ran over to the bathroom crashing into people as I moved earning curses and scolds from them. I had much less control over my body now. I flung open the door shutting and locking it behind me. Yami was face first into the floor not moving an inch.
"Yami!" I yelled running beside him flipping him over onto his side putting my head to his chest. 'Okay he's still breathing. Thank the gods.' His eyes were drooped just below half way with no gleam in his eyes. I shook him trying to get some sort of reaction out of him. He didn't respond. I looked around the room trying to find some way to wake him up. I reached for a tall glass on the counter and filled it with ice cold water. He was probably going to hate me for this but I couldn't think of anything else. I dumped the water onto his face tapping his cheeks slightly. He blinked a few times before coughing. He leaned up grabbing his head and wiping his nose of the blood and white powder. His eyes were unfocused and moving back and forth trying to stop the dizziness. After a while he finally looked up at me, seeing my worried expression.
"Yugi, when did you get here?" Clearly trying to avoid an explanation for how I found him.
"About an hour ago, I came looking for you when I couldn't find you."
"I need a drink. Let's go downstairs, shall we?" He grabbed my upper arm pulling me up. The tequila really hit me now. Yami was basically was holding me up as I wobbled trying find my center of balance. I looked into the mirror my face and chest were bright red from the alcohol. I blinked a couple of times at our reflections and how similar our style was. Before shaking my head and looking at him.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa wait! Another drink!? I thought you were dead just now!"
"But I'm not so let's go." His grip tightened around my arm and I flinched. His gaze was harsh and there was no point arguing with him. I sighed inwardly as we headed back down to the kitchen. Yami took a few shot of tequila straight, no lime or salt required. He handed me a few more shots and without thinking to much about it I took them. He dragged me to the dance floor where their were flailing bodies everywhere. He spun me around and started failing me around. The world started to spin as I swayed back and forth. Yami and I becoming one moving body on the floor. We danced for what felt like minutes, but was really hours. This uneasy feeling came creeping into my stomach and I tried to ignore it. I stopped moving and grabbed on to Yami's shoulders for support. My eyes snapped open as I ran outside barely making it to the grass before vomiting. I fell to my knees holding my stomach before vomiting again. I felt a hand gently circling on my back.
"Are you okay Yugi?" I looked up at Yami his eyes wide with concern.
"Actually I feel way better now." I laughed. Before throwing up a final time on the grass. I fell over not wanting to move. I
