~*A/N*~ I don't even know if I updated yesterday...or the day before that. Whoops! Things are really heating up now though, AM I RIGHT!? hue hue.

It was well into the month of July and we were all going a bit stir crazy from hiding out in Yami's house. Now that we were assigned into our groups, Maya, Joey, and Anzu had left to go meet with commissioner Surichiro Mizaki, Anzu's father. We awaited there arrival while me and Yami played duel monsters, as Duke and Tristan watched. It concluded in another draw. We knew exactly what the other was thinking. Almost like we were connected.

"Damn! That was intense!" Tristan sat reversed in his chair straddling the back of it. We taught them how to play a bit before we all bored out of our minds. After a few hours we heard the front door unlock as Maya, Joey, and Anzu entered. Anzu had her hand covering her cheek. Her face deserted of any emotion that may have been there. She leaned against the wall in the kitchen. We stared at them waiting for some kind of summary of how the meeting went.

"Well, uh. That didn't go so well. Apparently tapping Yugi's phone is a no go." We waited for an explanation from Joey. "Well...Uhm. It's, how do I put it."

"He said he didn't have time to play around with some 'kids'." Anzu pulled down her hand as a red mark stained her cheek. "He struck me and then we left. I'm sorry I couldn't be more useful Yugi." She stared at the window lost in thought.

"No I'm sorry Anzu! If I knew that would happen I would have never asked..." I felt my chest tighten. Everyone is suffering and I feel like it's my fault. Duke put his palm up to his chin.

"So with no leads, I guess we'll just keep hiding out here?" We all sighed getting frustrated with being cooped up. "We don't really have a choice." Yami's phone started to ring so he stepped into the other room to answer it.

"Well we can still leave the house, as long as we're in our groups right?" Tristan turned his head to me. I fidgeted in my seat.

"W-Well yes. I suppose, but if you guys were hurt... Or killed..." If anything happens to them I don't know what I would do.

"Look Yug' we're just as much a target here, if not more, than out there in the public." Joey stated

"He has a point Yugi, I doubt we'll be attacked in a crowd." Maya gave me a small smile. I thought about it for a long moment while they stared at me. Their eyes pleading with me. I let out a long sigh before nodding to which they silently cheered. Yami came back into the room with a smile on his face.

"Good news I hope." I said lifting my eyes to him.

"Indeed. A family friend of mine might be able to help us with tracking down Kira."

"Kira?" Joey said with a burst of laughter.

"Well what else are we going to call them if we don't know their identity?" Yami crossed his arms raising an eyebrow at Joey. Joey just shrugged slumping into his chair unable to think of a better name.

"So who's this friend of yours?" I asked.

"Seto Kaiba." A smirk crossed his face as the rest of us yelled in surprise.

"Ya mean like the C.E.O of Kaiba Corp.!? Like THE Seto kaiba!?" Joey was standing up from his seat now.

"The one and only. He owes me for competing in his duel monsters tournament a few years back." He paused for a moment before dropping the next bomb on us. "Also, he's my cousin."

"WHAA-!?" Yami couldn't help but laugh at our reaction.

"We'll be meeting with him tomorrow. It's a bit of a drive, so does anyone else have their license?" Duke waved his hand. "Okay you can drive one of my cars. We'll leave tomorrow morning." 'One of my cars? How many cars does he have?'

Later that night Yami and I had the house to ourselves. Duke, Tristan and Joey went to the arcade while Maya and Anzu went to the movies. It was nice to finally be alone with Yami. We sat in his room on the bed together. I grabbed a picture off the end table.

"Are these your parents?" There was a man, a woman and Yami squished in between them with a big smile stretched across his face. He looked like both of them. He stared blankly at the photo as he nodded. "How did they... Die?" I asked easing into the question. He inhaled a deep slow breath.

"A car accident. I had called them asking for a ride home from a party because I had drank too much. My mother told me they didn't think the roads would be safe to drive on due to the blizzard outside. I apparently was too incoherent to give a proper response because I had passed out in the middle of our conversation on the side of the road. When I woke up the next day I was in the hospital with an officer telling me they had slipped off the road and down the side of a cliff. The impact had killed them instantly." His teeth clenched. Hard. "If I hadn't been so stupid they would still be here." Silent tears overflowed from his eyes and I grabbed his hand. "I wish you could have met them. They were the best parents anyone could ask for." He leaned over holding his sides. I opened my mouth trying to speak but choked on my air as it turned into sobbing. He slid to the ground collapsing onto his side as he cried. Ne never grieved about his parents in front of me before. I don't think he ever mourned them. As soon as I held him he became limp and as he broke down harder then I had ever seen. I was happy that I could here for him, that he could show me this side of him. That he was human and like all humans was not perfect. Eventually the crying subsided as he groaned into my shoulder. He met my eyes. He looked exhausted from crying almost a years worth of tears. "I feel so weak. I'm sorry." I kissed his cheek and rubbed my nose against his. I walked over to the dresser and pulled out my journal and handed it to him.

"I would love nothing more than to destroy this, but I want you to read it first."

"Y-Yugi I can't."

"Please?" He face conflicted with emotions before he nodded. "You know the only thing grandpa wanted before he died was to meet you and I failed him." I slid to the floor curling my head into my knees. I heard Yami flipping through the pages. There was some really messed up stuff in there. I could only imagine how he looked when he read about the memory of my parents murder. The description of my fears, of my mothers dead body on top of me, my fathers lifeless eyes. I couldn't look at his face. I didn't want to watch his reaction to my insanity, but I was curious. I peaked at him lifting my eyes from my arms slightly. His face never changed as he read it. He only ever had a sad look in his eyes until he flipped to the last page and dropped the journal onto the floor with a smack. He was covering his mouth and started to cry again. I was confused how it changed so much from one page so I glanced down to see painful words and self insults written in blood. The page had Yami's name written all over it in different shades of red. I had forgotten about that. I would have torn that page out if I had remembered it was there. I felt tears run down my face seeing how I hurt him by hurting myself. "I-I'm so sorry." I whispered the words. I felt his fingers wrap around my wrists as he pulled me towards him squeezing me tight against his chest.

"Just close your eyes Aibou. I'm here now." I closed my eyes laying against him. Yami smelled so nice and was so warm. An image of my mother holding me covering my ears flashed in my head. My eyes snapped open. I pushed myself away from Yami with enough force to knock me back putting my hands behind me so I didn't fall. He reached out to me with a shaky hand.

"S-Sorry. I was once covered with something that was warm, and smelled nice." I felt my eyes grow cold and my body freeze as I whispered "but then it suddenly went really cold." Yami's body stiffened, his shaky hand now frozen. Neither of us moved for a few seconds. I felt like I was made out of stone, but I managed to move over to Yami and grab his extended hand intertwining our fingers. He clasped my hand and pulled me into his lap then into his arms and onto the bed. He smothered me with his heat trying to melt the cold memory with his warmth. He kissed me all over my face, neck and collarbone. I regained control of my muscles and grabbed his face dragging it up to my lips. I dug my nails into his shoulders and down his chest. I wanted to carve these memories into his skin. I felt his hand run up my waist and stomach lifting my shirt up. The sound of glass shattering instantly dragged us out of our bliss as we stared at each other with attentive expressions. He jumped out of bed and I grabbed his hand pulling him back.

"Don't! They may have a gun!" I pleaded whispering to him. He ripped his hand out of mine.

"Stay here. Don't you dare you leave."

"No!" He ran out the door shutting it behind him. Of course I didn't listen to him he was crazy! So I followed right behind him and we shifted as quietly through the house as possible. Until we reached the kitchen. The sliding glass door has been smashed, glass covering the tile, and something that smelled like-

"Gas." Yami grabbed my hand snatching two sets of keys from the island and pulled me towards the broken glass door. He pulled back the curtain to see it had been barred up from the outside. 'What!?' We quickly ranto the front door, but it was also blocked. Woof. We turned to see fire rapidly spreading through the bottom floor of the house blocking the main hallways. We ran to the stairs and up to the second floor. Every door was already blocked by fire. I didn't understand how it could have spread so fast. 'Stop worrying about how the fire is spreading and GET OUT!' I screamed in my head. Yami yanked me up the next flight of stairs, but stopped when the raging fire was only a few feet in front of us. We turned to see the fire climbing up the stairs whipping its flames out to us.

"What do we do!?" I cried frantically. Yami was paralyzed by the flames. I shook him, but his eyes were locked onto the blaze. "Yami!" He blinked regaining his reality and kicked in a door the was covered by fire. He busted it down after a few tries and pushed me into the room. I couldn't breathe. The smoke filled my lungs and I started to cough. We heard an explosion from down the hall. I quick yelp came from my lungs. Yami pulled a drawer out from the dresser and smashed the rooms window. We leaned out looking down. If we jumped we could definitely hurt ourselves, but we surely die if we stayed in the house. Yami ripped off the bed sheet tearing it into pieces and started to tie them together. I quickly understood and helped as much as I could. He tied the sheet to the bed post and threw the length of it down the side of the house. He pushed me towards the window. "No! You go first!"

"Yugi! This is non negotiable!" I refused and he yelled in frustration, but quickly leaned out the window when we heard familiar voices. We smiled when we saw our friends. Looks of pure horror filled their eyes. "Joey! Get the cars from the garage!" Yami threw the keys down to him. Joey took off. Yami grabbed my side and threw me out the window holding me by my wrists as I dangled out the window. In my fear I quickly grabbed onto the sheet and slid down. I dropped a story bending my knees as my feet made contact with the earth. I looked up to Yami. He was coughing and breathing heavy. He swayed back and forth before we lost sight of his figure in the window. "YAMI!" I screeched as loud as possible hoping my voice would somehow break through to him. Tristan ran up the side of the house grabbing the sheet for balance. When he reached the window he threw Yami over his shoulder. He slid down the side of the house, but halfway through the sheet ripped. Me and Duke ran over as they landed on us trying to break their fall. I grumbled in pain but quickly regained my composure. I gripped Yami under his shoulders and dragged him away from the house. He was wheezing with every breath, sweat covering his body. His eyes flickered open and he let out strangled coughs as he rolled onto his side. I rubbed his back when suddenly he snapped up to his knees and stared at his home with rage filled eyes. Tears fell from his eyes as he smashed his fists into the ground as he wailed. I now realized that he had lost something very precious to him. I felt the darkness inside of me swallow my heart. 'You did this'. A sharp pain rang across my chest. I became still as I watched my other soul lose his cherished memories in the blaze.
