"How about the Occult Club, do you think—?"

"I took care of that last week."

Nodoka looks at you with a surprised expression, taking off her glasses and setting them down on the table.

Nodoka: "If I didn't know any better, I would think you're trying to replace me as president for the student council.

Y/N: "Oh yeah, my plan to overthrow the school is slowly coming together."

You and Nodoka laugh. It had been exactly a month since you offered to help her with presidential duties for the school council, and even though she was doubtful at first, her life had been made a lot easier thanks to you.

Nodoka: "Thank you, Y/N."

Y/N: "Oh, what's that? I think Nodoka is getting sentimental."

Nodoka: "I'm being serious here. You really... you really changed everything around here."

Y/N: "That is a weird way of saying it but... you're welcome."

You stand up, putting all your things away before picking up your backpack.

Y/N: "It's getting late, let's go."

Nodoka: "Yeah, I'll catch up. There's something I have to do first."

Although you left the student council room, you decided to wait right outside, hiding so Nodoka wouldn't see you. You wanted to see what she was going to do.

She pulled out her phone and put her glasses back on, then she intently stared at her phone, even blushing a bit. You didn't know what she was looking at, so you decided to take a closer look. Leaving your backpack in the hallway, you entered the room very carefully and, since Nodoka seemed so fixated on her phone, she didn't notice you walking towards her until you were right next to her.

You took the phone from her and scared her as she fell off her chair.

Nodoka: "Y/N! What are you doing?!"

Y/N: "I dunno, you seem so..."

You took a look at what was on the phone, and saw it was a picture of you and Nodoka from last year when you two went to the beach. It was a fun day, and you even remembered seeing Yui approach you two at inhuman speeds, which is why she was behind you all blurry trying to get in the picture.

You looked at Nodoka and smiled.

Y/N: "Nostalgia?"

Nodoka stands up, adjusting her clothes and then extending her hand.

Nodoka: "Can I get my phone back, please?"

Y/N: "You can try."

Nodoka: "Please."

You felt bad for the short Nodoka, so you gave the phone back to her. She quickly put it in her pocket and took all of her stuff.

Nodoka: "Come on, let's go."

She sounded so serious it was almost scary. You decided to walk right behind her, taking your backpack from the hallway and seeing where the girl was headed. The trip back to her house felt like it lasted forever since you were usually the one to keep the conversation going, but after what happened, it just felt weird.

You didn't really get why she was so angry.

Y/N: "You wanna talk?"

Nodoka: "We're almost there."

Y/N: "Come on, Nodoka."

You caught up to Nodoka, then tried to get her to listen to you.

Y/N: "I'm sorry for accidentally pushing you, but you're fine right?"

Nodoka: "I'm fine."

Y/N: "You don't sound fine."

Nodoka stops walking.

Nodoka: "It was a dream."

Y/N: "Excuse me?"

Without looking at you, Nodoka takes off her glasses and takes a deep breath.

Nodoka: "I had a dream. You told me everything was going to be alright... and you flew, you soared through the sky with me in your arms. You took me to the light... it was beautiful..."

Nodoka takes a deep breath before she kept talking.

Nodoka: "I'm sorry, I know it sounds crazy but—"

Although a bit confused, you still wanted to make your friend feel better.

Y/N: "I mean, I can't grow wings and start flying but..."

You embraced Nodoka, delicately hugging her almost as if you feared she would break. A warm and loving embrace that she very much needed.

Y/N: "But hell, whatever's going on, trust me that it'll get better. It will get better."

Nodoka tightly held her glasses and cried into your chest. It was quiet, but that moment was a lot better than what she could have ever imagined or dreamed of.

Nodoka: "Y/N...?"

Y/N: "Yeah?"

Nodoka: "Thank you..."

Y/N: "Don't worry..."

It would be a lie to say you weren't enjoying this, but it was getting late and you had to take Nodoka home. With a pat on her head, you slowly let her go and looked at her, wiping the tears off her face.

Y/N: "There."

You grabbed her glasses and gently placed them on her face, seeing as they comfortably sat on her nose.

Y/N: "Come on, I'll take you home."

It was quiet on the way back to her house, and at one point, Nodoka slowly moved her hand to where it was touching yours, so you held her hand and walked her home like that.
