I don't know in what section this story would go. It is technically an original story, but I wasn't the one who thought of the idea. Oh well, here it is anyways πŸ—Ώ

"We wish you the best of luck!"

With the necessary weapons and wearing your light armor, you walked out of the guild ready to complete yet another quest for the day. You preferred to go on your own when the quests were particularly tough, so your party would do other, more simple things during the day.

As you walked through the huge forest of Fandor, you noticed a whimpering from afar. You pulled your sword out of its sheath and very slowly walked towards the source of the noise. It was particularly high-pitched, so you would assume that it must be a baby of some sorts.

When you got there, you looked down to see a young girl wounded and in serious need of help. Judging by her pearly white hair; long and pointy ears; bright yellow eyes and the fact that she only had four fingers on one hand, she was most definitely an elf girl.

Y/N: "Shit."

You kneeled down to observe the girl's bruises, seeing a huge cut along her abdomen. Remembering how useful but expensive potions are in this world, you pulled a healing one out and helped the girl drink it. She was hesitant at first, but she drank some of it and you watched as the cut turned into a scar and the rest of the bruises slowly vanished.

She seemed a lot better now.

Y/N: "Are you okay?"

The girl nods, but then quickly passed out possibly from being in such excruciating pain for so long. You decided to stay there with the girl until she wakes up, so you sat nearby and decided to take a nap. It didn't take long for your nap to be interrupted minutes after as someone gently shook you awake.

It was the girl you saved.

Y/N: "Hey, you're finally awake. Are you okay?"

"Y-Yes..."

Y/N: "What's your name?"

"I don't really have one..."

Y/N: "That's strange. Do you have parents?"

"My mom... but I don't know where she is..."

Y/N: "I'll help you find your mom then. Follow me."

You stood up and when you started walking, the girl quickly followed. You weren't exactly expecting to be helping a lost girl instead of actually completing your quest, but it was the right thing to do so why not.

But the right thing to do took way too long because by the time you did find someone, the sun was already setting.

"Mommy!"

The little girl found her mom and ran towards her. She was just wandering around the village with a bottle of rum in her hand.

"Oh, it's you."

When the mother looked up and locked eyes with you, an almost devilish grin grew on her face.

"And who's your little friend?"

"He helped me find youβ€”"

The mother pushed the girl aside and walked towards you.

"Thank you for finding her, I was so hurt when I realized she was missing. And since I don't have any money... is there any other way I can repay you?"

She knew what she was doing, especially because she was showing you some of her cleavage. You weren't fazed by this at all and decided to turn down her offer.

Y/N: "I'm sorry, I don't like... people like you. Nice try though."

You tried to leave, but the woman kept on insisting by gripping your wrist and trying to pull you towards her.

"Please, I need you!"

Y/N: "I'm sure you say that to every man you meet. Have a good day."

You forcefully yanked your hand and saw how the woman fell to the floor. The people walking around already knew the woman too well, so they didn't try to help her at all.

While you walked away, you turned to see the girl try to help her mother stand up, but all her mom did was push her away. You stepped in and kneeled in front of the girl.

Y/N: "Come on, there's something I want to show you."

"What about my mom?"

Y/N: "She'll be okay. I'm sure she will be just fine."

Although the girl didn't notice the hint of sarcasm in your tone of voice, the mother did, and she didn't do anything to stop you because deep down she knew the daughter she never wanted to have would be better off with you. You left the woman behind and took her daughter and went to the nearest inn. When you walked in, you asked for a room with two beds.

"Is she your daughter?"

Y/N: "No, she's just..."

The innkeeper looked at you with a weird face after a long and awkward silence, thinking of something a lot more weird.

Y/N: "I mean yeah, sure."

"Okay then..."

She gave you the key, and after you paid the innkeeper you took the girl to the room. You took off your armor and then set your weapons down.

Y/N: "I need to talk to you for a second."

The girl was already sitting on the bed, looking really tired by the looks of it. Her long, pointy ears perked up when she saw you sit next to her.

Y/N: "Do you have... any other family members?"

The girl shook her head.

"Not really."

Y/N: "Well, okay. You'll stay with me until I find you somewhere else to live, alright?"

The girl nods her head, but she quickly gets into bed because of tired she was.

Y/N: "Man... you don't even have a name..."

The girl was already sleeping, and just seeing her peacefully sleep made you all the more tired, so you decided to get in your bed to hit the hay as well, wondering what to do with the girl tomorrow now that she was under your custody.

In the middle of the night...

You were woken up by something crawling into your bed. You opened your eyes to see that it was the girl who had gotten into your bed with you. Since you didn't want to wake her up, you just sighed and went back to sleep with her snuggling into your chest.

Next Day, At The Guild

Y/N: "You're an elf. And now, you're technically my daughter... this is really weird."

The girl ignored your rambling as she continued to eat her breakfast. You still weren't sure whether you really wanted to stay with this girl or not, especially since you've never taken care of any children before.

Y/N: "We'll find something, but for now, a name. What name should we give you..."

"I don't think I need a name."

Y/N: "If I don't give you a name, then it'll be weird when people hear me calling you things like "girl" or "hey you!" You know? It's weird."

The girl nods in agreement, and taking a bite of her food, she tries to think of something with you. And just in time, a woman approached you and stared at you intently.

"You seem busy. Who's that?"

You turned to see it was your best friend, Sarah, who's also the archer of your party.

Y/N: "Well, I found her."

Sarah: "You just found her?"

Y/N: "I would be lying to you if I said the story was longer than that, but that's all that happened..."

Sarah: "Interesting... can I teach her how to use the bow?!"

Y/N: "What is with you and wanting to teach everyone how to use the bowβ€”of course not."

Sarah: "Tsk! Fine. You got a name?"

When the elf girl finally finished eating, she looked at Sarah and shook her head.

Sarah: "Mmm... how about..."

Sarah smacks the table with her fist as she thought of a 'good' name for the girl.

Sarah: "Elfie!"

Y/N: "That's terrible."

Sarah: "Not like you came up with anything!"

Y/N: "I will, I hope."

You stood up and called the elf girl to come with you. She stood up as well and, taking you by surprise, held your hand.

Y/N: "Can you pay for our food? Thanks."

Sarah: "B-But I barely got anything from the last quest!"

Holding the elf girl's hand, you left the guild while Sarah sat on your seat and sighed.

Sarah: "A parent..."

She looked at you and the elf girl and saw her big smile on her face which caused Sarah to smile as well.

Sarah: "It really suits you, Y/N."
