Sometimes, I like to read some of the oneshots I write and my reactions are either "I wrote this? This shit is GOOD" or "what the fuck is this, this is HORRIBLE lmao" there is no in-between.

"Lieutenant!"

You entered the young girl's office carrying two things, a stack of papers and a cup of coffee, which immediately made Tanya raise an eyebrow, wondering about something as she saw you walk in.

Tanya: "L/N, right? Why are you here?"

Tanya instantly recognized you, since she remembered you were the one that saved her life a couple of months ago. She never thought she would get the chance to see you again, but now that you were in front of her, she wanted to say something about that day.

Y/N: "Well, I came to bring you what looks like important paperwork that you must go over and I also brought... coffee."

You look at the cup of coffee, and the divine scent from the drink really made you want some as well, but this particular morning was going to be a busy one for you so there was no time for that.

Tanya: "Where is Serebryakov? She's usually the one that does this."

Y/N: "I don't have an exact answer for that, but she asked me to deliver these to you."

Tanya squints her eyes, trying to think of a reason why Viktoriya would suddenly not come to her office and why she would send someone like you to do her job.

Tanya: "I'll have to talk to her later. Set them on my desk and resume with your morning activities."

You walked over to her desk and set both things down. The Lieutenant sat on her chair and watched the faint steam of the hot beverage rise as she held back from completely melting over the coffee that Visha made, because by now everyone knew how great she was at making these things. She was so good that she would probably get paid quite a lot if she just started selling coffee.

Just as you were about to walk out...

Tanya: "L/N."

Y/N: Yes, Lieutenant?"

Tanya: "Thank you."

Those two words right there, as serious as the delivery of them were, struck something in you that made you think twice about stepping out of the office. That simple 'thank you' wasn't for the coffee, it was for something else.

You decided not to pay attention to it, so you walked out of the office with a troubled mind. Maybe it was just the coffee that was making you feel strange.

And speaking of coffee...

"Taa-daa!"

When you walked out of the office, you were greeted by Viktoriya, who just so happened to have a fresh cup of coffee.

Viktoriya: "Here you go, thanks for covering me!"

Y/N: "Why didn't you—?"

She put a finger over her mouth, making sure you two weren't being too loud so Tanya would not hear her adjutant's voice right outside of her office.

Viktoriya: "I'm testing some things, can you cover for me the day after tomorrow as well?"

Y/N: "S-Sure."

Today

Tanya: "So, there you have it L/N, truth."

Y/N: "Wait, that's it?"

Tanya: "I have no idea what you were expecting."

You watched as Tanya opened the box of chocolates and put one in her mouth.

Y/N: "I was thinking of many other situations, but that one—"

Tanya: "Was the first thing that came to mind."

Tanya grins, taking another chocolate and eating it, this time with a more excited look in her eyes, waiting on what you would say that would make this conversation a lot more interesting.

Y/N: "Can I share now?"

There it is.

Tanya: "Go ahead."

A Couple Of Hours Before You Saved Each Other

Erik: "What do you think of her? Isn't she weird?"

Right before all hell broke loose and the nightmares began, it was always you and your brothers against the world. Brothers is a better term since 'friends' doesn't quite show that same type of closeness that the three of you had.

Doz: A little girl in battlefield is really weird, she's like baby in a gunfight."

Y/N: "I know, but I bet she could kick all of our asses with her eyes closed."

Doz: "I don't doubt that for a second."

You and your friends shared a laugh while Tanya just sat down, thinking and calculating in her head. Her glare was still a menacing one, and even if she wasn't directly staring at anyone, everyone was still afraid of even getting close to her.

Erik: "Look, we're almost there."

Y/N: "Are we ready?"

Doz: "Let's do this."

BOOM!

BOOM!

BOOM!

BOOM!

Everything that came after that was all a haze. Doz had lost a leg and Erik was nowhere to be seen. And you just sat there staring up at the sky, wondering where God was and why he wasn't listening to your prayers.

"Hey! No time to be taking breaks!"

At that time it wasn't God that saved you, it was just that girl. The scary one that you never thought you would have to even talk to.

"Can you hear me? You have to keep fighting, so go or you'll be fighting me!"

You would have preferred to die there and then, but as you saw something coming straight at you, and there was only one thing you could do.

Y/N: "Watch out!"

You grabbed Degurechaff, then jumped away as a projectile caused the two of you to get launched a few feet away. You landed quite roughly on the ground with the girl in your arms.

Y/N: "Are you—"

Before you could even say anything, you received a buttstroke to the face which knocked you out and left a bruise that would be there for a while.

Today

Remembering again was... painful, in more ways than one. Tanya looked at you with a very slight hint of worry in her eyes, holding your hand again almost like she knew you needed it.

Y/N: "Thanks..."

Tanya: "Don't worry. Now that we've shared, what now?"

Y/N: "I haven't thought about it, but... how about we go for a walk?"

Tanya: "Sure."

You and Tanya left the coffee shop, with the Lieutenant maintaining a respectful silence just so you could recover a little from remembering what happened.

Tanya: "You are strong L/N. Sometimes I might think you're stronger than me."

Y/N: "I don't think anyone can be stronger than you, Tanya."

Tanya: "I don't mean physically. Anyone would have lost their minds after witnessing all of that terror. But you're still here, walking and talking just like anyone else."

Words like that coming from someone like Tanya really meant a lot to you, even more than any badge or medal. Seeing Tanya just do something simple like that made you see her in a different way.

Yet something about her words was still a bit off.

Y/N: "Oh, Tanya?"

Tanya: "Yes?"

Y/N: "You can just call me Y/N if you want."

Tanya grins.

Tanya: "Let's not get too comfortable, Y/N."

Y/N: "Sorry."

And then she chuckles from your reaction.

Tanya: "I'm just messing with you."

You two kept walking, enjoying the calm quiet of the city. And then...

Tanya: "Y/N. That's a nice name."
