I tend to like requests of underrated girls, because I don't see too many stories about them! Or maybe there are more than I know of, Idk, I don't get to read much. Anyways, here is a casual oneshot of Rio!

P.S.: Fun fact, I created an OC a long time ago for a story and, when I finally got around to watch this anime, I realized she was way too similar to Rio that it spooked me a bit 👀

"Hey, wake up."

A cute, brown-haired, tired girl wearing glasses was stirred awake by her best friend, who seemed kind of worried that she was still at school at this hour, when most of the students had already left. You grabbed a chair and sat next to her, watching as she slowly wakes up, stretching her arms and making a cute noise, then she looks at you.

"Y/N?"

Y/N: "Hey Rio. You haven't been answering my phone calls. You alright?"

Rio: "Sorry, I was... busy."

Y/N: "I see. Given that you're the only member of the Science Club, I can see why."

You checked your phone, seeing only your very strange and funny screensaver and the time, which just reminded you how late it was.

Y/N: "Will you be okay? I gotta go."

Rio: "Yeah, I'll be okay. Thanks for waking me up."

Y/N: "No problem chief."

You stood up, walking towards the door but then you heard some noise behind you, so when you turned around, Rio was holding onto your shirt.

Rio: "Actually, can you take me home?"

Y/N: "Sure, don't worry. Get your stuff."

Rio made sure she wasn't forgetting anything before you two left the physics prep room, closing the door and leaving school. It had been several minutes since you and Rio had started walking and, just now, you had realized something.

Y/N: "Wait, where do you live exactly?"

Rio: "I thought I told you."

Y/N: "When?"

Rio: "Doesn't matter. Guess I'll stay at your house then. It's closer to the school than mine is, so it benefits us both since we are both exhausted."

Y/N: "Wow, okay then. Sure."

You kept walking some more, the sounds of the city at night were very soothing and definitely helped so that the moment wasn't as awkward as it should have been.

Y/N: "Are you sure you wanna come? Because I feel like a girl going out at this time with someone that looks five years older than her—"

Rio: "I'm positive."

Y/N: "Alright chief, don't say I didn't warn you."

Rio: "I doubt my best friend would do anything slightly wrong to me. If you are planning to do something along those lines, then we will be having a different conversation, one that involves you behind bars."

Y/N: "Got it, I won't get near the very scary Rio Futaba. Especially if you're ready to do something like that to me."

Rio: "I am ready for anything."

And then there was some more walking until you finally arrived to your apartment. You took the keys from your pocket, put it in the doorknob and opened the door. You turned on the lights as Rio walked in and closed the door.

Y/N: "You've already been here before, right?"

Rio: "I don't think so."

There was some light snoring coming from the living room, so when you checked the couch, you saw your sister sleeping on said couch. She was possibly trying to stay awake and wait for you to get home, but she ended up falling asleep. You sigh, getting close and putting your arms underneath her back and legs, lifting her up.

Y/N: "Can you open that door?"

Rio walked over to open the door to your sister's bedroom, then you walked in and gently placed her on her bed, grabbing a blanket and covering her body with it.

Y/N: "She is cute when she's sleeping, but most definitely not when she's awake."

You and Rio walked out of the room then you gently closed the door. You looked down at Rio, who seemed to feel just a tiny bit of embarrassment since now she was technically alone with you, but you couldn't really tell how she was feeling since she always had this very serious expression on her face.

Rio: "I'll get comfortable on the couch."

Y/N: "I would hate for that to be the case, so you will sleep in my room."

Rio: "Okay."

Y/N: "No mercy!"

Rio: "Did you expect for me to get embarrassed and ask you to sleep with me or something?"

Y/N: "It would have been nice, yes."

Rio: "I'll lock the door, so don't try and come in."

Y/N: "I won't."

Rio walks into your bedroom, closing it and locking it like she said she would.

Y/N: "Can you at least hand me the—"

Rio quickly opened the door to give you a sleeping bag that you kept if you ever went out camping, which hadn't been the case for a very long time.

Y/N: "Wow, you found this really quickly."

She closed the door and locked it again. You sigh once more, getting comfortable in the middle of the living room, and with your arms behind your head, you stared at the ceiling with a bored expression.

Y/N: "Aren't her parents going to ask where she is at this hour? Meh, whatever."

Since it was those type of chilly nights, it was a bit hard to fall asleep specially since you were on the floor with only a sleeping bag to keep you warm, or as warm as a cheap sleeping bag could keep you.

Fortunately, you were so tired that you did in fact fall asleep despite feeling like a human popsicle.

And when you woke up, your eyes slowly opened and were greeted by the sight of Rio who just woke up, with messy hair and still looking really good with that lab coat of hers.

Rio: "Morning."

Y/N: "Hey, you sleep well?"

Rio: "I'm sure your sister did."

You looked to your right to see Kaede clinging onto your arm, providing you with the warmth and comfort that you needed last night, but it was unnecessary now.

Y/N: "I knew this was going to happen... Hey K, please stop trying to sleep with me, you're too old for that."

You knew well that she was only pretending to be asleep, because she was pouting with her eyes closed.

Kaede: "You can't deny my love, you have to—!"

Kaede tried giving you a good morning kiss on the cheek, but you placed your hand on her face and tried keeping her away from you.

Y/N: "Yeah yeah, whatever."

You heard Rio giggle very quietly, but you decided not to tease her because of it. She adjusts her glasses.

Rio: "I made breakfast."

Y/N: "You used lab materials again, right?"

Rio: "Yes."

Y/N: "Well, I'm sure you didn't poison it."

Rio: "Don't be too sure."

Y/N: "What is that supposed to mean?!"

All three of you sat down at the table, and just as you were about to eat, your obnoxious little sister was staring at Rio as if she knew something.

Kaede: "Should I tell—?"

Rio coughs loudly, then she cleared her throat. The girl was very slightly blushing.

Rio: "Did you sleep well on the floor?"

Y/N: "Surprisingly, yeah, I did."

Kaede giggles.

Y/N: "What?"

Kaede: "It's nothing!"

Rio looks down, stuffing her mouth with food to avoid any sort of conversation, hoping that Kaede wouldn't mention what Rio did last night to help you sleep.
