FLASHBACK

"...What did you want me to do again?"

Kanade sat on a chair wearing a very interesting outfit that you obtained, or stole, from that classroom the drama club uses. A dinosaur costume that somehow fit the short Kanade.

Y/N: "Just stay right there."

You took a picture using your trusty camera that you found a couple of weeks ago, turning photography into a hobby to kill some time since purgatory got boring at times. You eventually got the hang of it and took pictures of almost anything and anyone wherever you went.

Kanade: "This is a bit weird."

Y/N: "Don't worry, I'm almost done... There."

You walked over to  dino Kanade and showed her the pictures. A very small smile forms on her face.

Y/N: "You like them, don't you?"

Kanade: "You're good at it. You have more costumes for me, don't you?"

Y/N: "Yeah! Please bear with me for just a bit longer."

Kanade: "Don't worry, I will."

You kept going for a couple more minutes, taking pictures with Kanade wearing different, silly costumes, seeing how well each picture looked and feeling satisfied with all of them. Then, as a last picture...

Y/N: "Change back to your normal clothes—"

Kanade: "Done."

Y/N: "That was surprisingly fast! How about a pic of us together?"

Kanade: "Sure."

You grabbed the expensive camera and placed it down, setting a timer then quickly walking over to Kanade. You hugged her from behind, lifting her up while she smiled. The camera flashed for a second, which meant the picture was taken.

Kanade: "That hug was sudden."

Y/N: "Well, this pic is going to be something cute that you can remember me by."

Kanade: "I see. What do you mean by remember? Are you going somewhere?"

Y/N: "Something like that, sure."

The realization hit Kanade like a train, you were going to leave her.

Kanade: "I see."

She didn't react to it just so you didn't have anything to worry about. If you wanted to go then she would help you get there, whatever it takes.

Y/N: "Why are you looking at me like that? You got something in your mind?"

Kanade: "Not at all, just thinking."

Y/N: "Right. Welp, I don't think there's anything else I can do around here."

Kanade: "You're leaving, aren't you? If so, what do you wish to do?"

Y/N: "I don't think I should tell you. It's embarrassing."

Kanade: "I can help you."

Y/N: "Well...I never had... anyone special."

Kanade: "Special?"

Y/N: "Yeah, like, people always seemed to have a special partner that they could share their secrets with and tell them how much they...

You stopped for a second, trying to think of a way to say what you really wanted before you kept on embarrassing yourself.

Y/N: "Feel loved, I guess that's what I want. To love and to feel loved."

Kanade looks away for a second, then realizes what she must do. Even she had to admit that maybe there was something she felt for you, but in order to help you, Kanade would have to tell you how she felt.

Kanade: "I see. Well, I love you, Y/N."

Y/N: "I don't think that's how it works—"

Kanade: "I'm serious. I love you."

You stood, laughing nervously before accepting Kanade's statement as a true statement. Maybe at first you thought it was to simply help you, but Kanade got closer and clasped her hands together.

Kanade: "I wasn't really planning on telling you, but now I did."

Y/N: "Huh, well that's an interesting twist. I... I like you too, Kanade."

You smiled, feeling kind of proud that you finally got to say that to a girl without getting rejected like in your past life.

Y/N: "I honestly don't know where to go from here."

Kanade: "I see... come here."

Kanade hugged you, and when you looked down, you saw her majestic silver hair and nothing much aside from that. Kanade was really short compared to you.

Kanade: "You said like, and not love. Why's that?"

Y/N: "Because I wanna do something before saying that."

Surprising Kanade, you placed your hands on her waist, bringing her really close to kiss her. This was the first time both of you ever kissed someone so it took a bit to get used to it, but then you gave in to each other, not letting go as you continued to kiss Kanade. You really wished this moment could last forever, but once you separated, you whispered those three words that you have been wanting to say for a very long time to your special someone.

Y/N: "I love you."

And after that, you vanished.

Kanade, glad that you were able to find peace, smiles. She knew she was going to miss you, but she would find you in her new life. She was sure of it.

PRESENT

Kanade enters her dorm room, finding the pictures you took of her wearing the strange costumes. She then found her favorite picture, the picture that stood out to her.

The picture she took with you.

Kanade stares at it for some time, then kisses the picture.

The picture falls to the floor.
