Before the chapter, as some of you have noticed since the past couple of chapters I have had to re publish the same chapters a couple of times. My apologies guys as I can understand how disappointing it is to think there is a new update and then realise it's the same chapter republished.

It's a glitch I think. Every time I publish a chapter I try to rectify the minor typos and edit. Somehow these days after I save, the edited version seems quite distorted at places and words and lines seem scrambled up and sometimes multiplied or entirely missing from the published version.

Since it is not a mistake at my end, there is nothing that I can do to edit and correct. To rectify this formatting glitch I have to un publish, then re publish sometimes the same chapter more than once.:)

Now read on!

Happy reading.:)

Suvarna's POV.

Why have my eyes been glued together?

Oh my God! I have been tied to a plank! The men with the guns must have done it.

The pregnant woman and her daughter. I hope they are safe.

The fire -the smoke -the little girl separated from her mother- crying-

I have to find them. If only I could lift either of my hands. Pulling at them turns out to be futile as I cannot even budge.

Scrunching up my face I try to open my eyes and my eyelids move a bit.

"Owww-"

Is that my voice?

A sharp piercing light hits my eyes in the little slits that had opened making me yelp in pain and shut them close again.

"She's waking up!"

That voice- it's so familiar.

Where am I?

A wet sensation on my face, like someone is gently wiping my face feels so soothing and nice.

If I have been tied to a plank then who is this being so nice to me?

One of my captors must be kind hearted.

I feel something on my lips "Open your mouth a bit." A gentle voice- a gentle female voice tells me.

I frown as I do what I am told and immediately am rewarded by the most delicious feeling on my tongue.

Water!

I lick greedily as drops of water are slowly given to me.

"Why are you being nice to me – kidnapper?"

I ask as the cool water sooths my parched throat.

My question is ignored as the previous familiar voice says. "The lights have been reduced Suvarna. Try to open your eyes now."

He knows my name!

I open my eyes slowly and see –white- everything around is white-

Slowly my vision clears and a face swims in my focus.

"Danny?" I gasp horrified. "You have been helping the armed miscreants!"

His eyebrows raise at my words before his lips twitch slightly.

He dares to laugh at me!

"Why have you tied me up? What have you tied me with?" It does not feel like a rope.

I trying to peer at my arms and see two dark nest like bushy structures on either side.

"A new technology." Danny says moving close to me- amusement on his face. He points to the nest like thing on my right. "M ehrotra 1" he points to the other side "Mehrotra 2"

What is he talking about?

I look on in shock as suddenly the thing on my right moves and a face becomes visible.

"Shishir!" I gasp.

"Suvi! You are-" the rest of the words are muffled as he pulls me close and buries his head on my shoulder.

I am engulfed from the other side too.

Paresh!

Slowly my eyes focus on things around and realisation hits me.

"I am in a hospital!" I blurt.

"And I have not yet started kidnapping people."

Danny said and I shoot him an apologetic look.

Me and my wild imagination.

By now it is clear I had not been tied. The two Mehrotra brothers had been holding my hands on either side and both must have dozed off resting their heads on me.

I look at the two in question as they move back slightly. Their expressions tell me how worried they have been. Paresh moves to the other side and stands beside Shishir

I offer them a feeble smile feeling a bit too overwhelmed suddenly.

Then I remember- "The child! The little girl- her mother- how is she?"

Shishir smiled "See for yourself."

I see Danny go out of the room and soon comes back. Behind him a young couple walk in. The woman I recognise as the pregnant woman at the mall.

With them is the little girl- her daughter- who had got separated from her mother in the fire. She gives me a smile – she is the most adorable child!

Her light blonde hair is tied is plaited and her eyes are round as she looks at me in wonder.

"Shishir!" she shrieks happily as she sees him and opens her arms out to him.

I hear him chuckle as he bends slightly and the girl almost flies into his arms. She puts her small hands around him hugging him tightly and he lightly ruffles her head and plants a kiss on her cheek.

"Say 'hi' to Suvi." Shishir says softly and the girl moves back slightly from the hug she is giving Shishir and looks at me with surprise in her eyes.

"She's Sivi?" Shishir chuckled and nodded.

"The Delhi one?" the girl gushes and I look on surprised. She seems to know me- and Shishir she seems to be really fond of!

Who is she?

"Suvi - guess who is this." Shishir said and my eyes widened. I am supposed to know her? I smile softly as the cute child gives me a shy smile.

A child who obviously is very close to Shishir – here in London.  Who could it be?

I gasp "Pinky?"

"She knows me!" the sweet adorable darling clapped her hand and my heart melted.

"We cannot thank you enough for rushing back in that fire to help us out." The lady says softly pushing a bunch of loveliest flowers in my hand.

"We have been away at my parents due to some complications in my pregnancy and had returned home just last night after over two months." She says softly as she presses my hand lightly as a thank you gesture.

Before I can respond a pair of blue eyes appear close to my face. " She is so pretty Shishir!"

I cannot help the chuckle as tiny hands go around my neck.

*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^

Break time!

Pinky makes an appearance at last. You did not think that the girl whom our Sivi had been so jealous of is out of Shishir's life, did you? LOL!

Suvi has the best imagination- haha.

*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^

Shishir's POV.

I rushed back into the room as soon as Brody and Lily's back is turned and they walk away with Pinky.

I had stepped out to see them off and already I cannot wait to be back with my Suvi.

Walking in I see Paresh glare at Suvi while she was scowling at him.

Shaking my head I cannot help but smile. These two are the weirdest of all as is the bond that they share.

"What is going on?" I asked looking at Danny who is looking hopefully at the two, obviously waiting for them to fight.

"Do you remember who had won the fancy dress competition when they were in the fourth standard?"

"They are arguing about that now?" I ask my eyebrows shooting up.

"It started when Suvarna was served her meal and they have been pointing at the plate and blaming each other for something." Danny said looking at me.

I laugh as I remember suddenly what year they are talking about. "They had participated as a team- fork." I say pointing at Paresh "and knife." I point at Suvi.

"They had dressed as fork and knife??" Danny asked looking from one to the other.

"And had taken a small kid from class prep as pancake – their prop." I laughed "Cut it you two, you both had got disqualified when both of you had almost torn the kid apart pulling and pushing him."

"We had been demonstrating the function of fork and knife." Paresh protested.

"He was the one to blame. He pulled at the child's head without warning." Suvi scowled at Pushkar again.

"I was improvising! Picking up the strawberry- his head wear- with a fork!"

"You were not supposed to improvise! He got scared and ran off while I was still trying to demonstrate cutting his dress- the pancake- and because of the tussle the entire dress came apart instead of one slice!"

"And we had fork and knife pulling at each other's hair on stage while a four year was screaming and running around in a superman underwear!" I laughed hard at the memory.

"Anyways from now on you two will not plan anything fancy or romantic." Paresh said as I settled myself on a chair close to Suvi's bed.

"What is that supposed to mean?" Suvi frowned .

"Last time you planned to confess your feelings for him and he had that accident and today bhaiya was going to p-"

I snapped my head at him sharply startling him.

The proposing is supposed to be a surprise! The moron almost gave away my initial plan.

"Um he was going to p- p- he planned to p-" the ass looks helplessly at Danny. Why cannot he just shut up?

"Poop?" Danny provided helpfully and I shut my eyes while face palming myself.

"Yes! That is what." Paresh the biggest ass agreed, delighted to have got a word for his stammering 'p'!

"You have to plan your 'poop' Mehrotra?" Charles's laughter filled voice made me remove my hand from my face and shoot him a grim look as he entered the room right then.

"Guys please!" Suvi's voice- almost like a squeak rang out. "I do not want to imagine him like that!"

Suvi's tone said it all and my hand was back covering my face. I am going to strangle Paresh- and Danny too!

***

"No Suvi! I am not leaving you here and going home." I said angrily. She is barely concious, still has traces of smoke in her lungs and she wants me to leave her!

Paresh and others have left some time ago as the hospital staff had chased away every one since she was supposed to rest.

I had stayed back. I had refused point blank to leave and also they agreed she may need to have someone around when she wakes up again.

And now, having woken up after another hour's of rest she wants me to leave!

"Come here." She whispered opening her hands and little. I leaned forward careful not to disturb the drips on her hand. "Remember the parcels I had sent on your birthday every year?" she whispered in my ears and I went still.

"Well, I did not want you to open them in front of me. They are simple gifts, nothing fancy and I did not want to see you disappointed." She said and I hissed at her words. She thinks any gift from her to me will not be special?

"I had poured my care for you while choosing them. Go home and open them for me now." She said planting a feeble kiss on my cheek.

"That is not fair Suvi. I will open them when you come home.".

"For me, please? I will be sleeping again and not waking up for quite some time, so your staying is actually not needed." She says softly.

I begin to protest but stop when I see the desperate plea in her eyes. Reluctantly I get up and plant a kiss on her forehead.

"Rest sweetheart. I will be coming back very soon."

She nodded her eyes already closing as she began to drift back to sleep again. I smiled at the sight and touch her cheek lightly before turning towards the door and walking out.

If I look at her for another moment I will not be able to walk away.

Luckily there is no serious concern with regard to her health.

She had passed out due to smoke and tar chocking her respiratory track. Fortunately she had not been in the smoke for too long for any severe damage to be done.

My hand goes into the pocket of my coat and I touch the little box there. "Soon my love. Soon I will put this on your finger." I mumble moving towards my car.

The fact that Suvi will be discharged within a day or maybe two helps to lift my mood slightly

*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^

Break time!

'P' for?? LOL! Please do not answer that. Shishir could have murdered the two in question right then. Haha!

Shishir's POV.

I enter the apartment and instantly get hit by the fact- she is not here. I have just left her sometime back and already the apartment seems so bleak without her presence.

"How is she? I just got to know. Why was I not informed about this?" Papa's voice reaches my ears and I frowned.

"She is fine. You do not need to worry on her account." I say not looking at him.

"Paresh said she has regained consciousness. I am on my way to meet her now." He said patting my shoulder and I stiffen.

"No!" I say forcefully "She is resting right now. That is why I also came away." I continue trying to sound calmer. "anyways you have a flight to catch later on and have to leave for airport soon." I said starting to walk away.

"You think I will go away when Suvarna is in this condition? I am not going anywhere till she is back home." His words halt my step and I spin around.

"You don't have to! Papa there is no need for you to show you care." I felt my anger rise.

"Show I care!" he sounded angry now. "I do care Shishir. She has always been like a daughter to me."

"Really Papa?" I said feeling my face heat up. I felt a sharp pain in my heart as I remembered what he had done to us over the years. We were separated for so long because of him!

I was angry with her for so many years- largely due to his manipulations.

"Yes really Shishir." I heard the sharp edge in Papa's voice. "She is Prachi's daughter, my best friend's daughter for God's sake Shravan!"

I fisted my palm tightly at the mention of Priya auntie's name. "You did not remember all this when you wove all those lies and manilupated us with them, Papa?"

I saw him visibly flinch at my words as he recoiled his eyes moving away from my face as his expression clouded.

"You don't understand Shishir. I had to do- what I had to." He said still not looking at me.

"You are right Papa, I don't understand." I said feeling the hurt in my heart. "you were my role model, and you actually tore apart and changed every good thing I had liked to replace it with pain and loneliness."

His eyes were sad as he looked at me at last "Shishir I love you. I want to give you the best possible of everything in life."

"Your definition of best things in life obviously does not include what I want or care about." I said and raised my hand in the air not wanting to continue this discussion.

"I don't want to talk about this anymore please." I say turning away and walking towards Suvi's room. I need to get away before I tell him something that I am sure to regret later.

It's a good thing our grandparents have not returned home yet. I would not want them to witness such harsh discussions.

***

Entering her room I breathe in deeply. While it relaxes me in my current mood it also makes me miss her even more.

I need to get back to her as soon as possible. I know I cannot as she is sue to ask if I have opened the parcels or not.

I want to. I really want to. I am longing to know what she had sent all over the years. I just wish she was sitting beside me right now.

Signing vocally I move towards the cupboard where I know she has kept the parcels.

Slowly I take out the eight packets. I must thank Ben for keeping them safe over the years. Placing them in front of me on the carpet I lean back on her bed sitting down on the carpeted floor

I run my fingers on them lightly thinking about Suvi and feel my vision blur.

Suvi, you horrible girl, See you are making this big man cry. I exhale heavily and try to look for the gift she had sent first.

It is not difficult as my sweetheart had mentioned the date on top on each parcel.

I feel my hands tremble as I carefully unwrap the packet. I do not want to ruin the packet. My Suvi must have spent so much time and care to pack it.

As my eyes fall on what is inside I lean back on the bed trying to control my emotions. I can almost picture our conversation like it had happened yesterday.

Some days before I had left for London, ten years back

Me: He broke it. Now I will not be able to practise.

Suvi: I had told you not to let that bullyBabloo touch your guitar! He is jealous of you since you have already learnt to play it so well.

Me: (in an agitated tone) What do I do now Suvi? I have already spent all my pocket money and I know Papa will not buy it for me now. He had already warned me when he had got it repaired last week.

Suvi: Oh. Is guitar string very expensive?

Me: It is for kids when we have to depend on pocket money.

Suvi: I have some money with me.

Glancing at the few ten rupee notes she had been clutching in her hand I shake my head sadly.

Me: We need a lot more than that Suvi.

Suvu: (looking sad) This is all I have.

I get up and pull her in a hug.

Me: Don't worry about it okay?

Suvi: I will save money and then we can buy it for you.

I can feel the tears run freely down my cheeks now,

She saved,

She must have saved every bit of pocket money and treat she may have got to be able to buy this for me.

I realise not only for this, she must have also spent so much on the postage of letters throughout the years.

The flow of tears increase as I remember Paresh mentioning that she had started giving tutions and her family had not been happy about it. They had scolded her saying people will think they are not taking care of her so she needs to earn money.

I had angrily told Paresh to shut up and not bring up anything about Suvi. telling him I don't care.

Rushing out of her room I run to my room and open my cupboard pulling out that same guitar.

I had never had the heart to string it over the years. I had made Pushkar to bring it over to London a few years back and since then it had sat like that in this cupboard.

Over the years I have purchased many more guitars but this one stayed the way it had been at the time of my conversation with Suvi.

I take it back to her room and carefully string it. This was meant to be done years back- It would have been had there been no separation period forced in upon us.

A note slips out of the parcel that I had opened.

'I am waiting for you to keep your promise to me.'

I close my eyes remembering more of that conversation.

Suvi: Shishir will you play this old Kishore Kumar song for me once your guitar is fixed?

Me: Which one?

Suvi: Pyar manga hai tumhi se.

Is shake my head slightly trying to clear it up. We may not have been together for so many years but I have always remembered every detail we shared. I have practised this song well over the years.

My fingers move over the strings as I think about the lyrics and how deep their meaning is, especially for us.

pyaar maanga hai tumhi se naa inkaar karo
paas baiTho zara aaj to ikraar karo

I've asked you alone for love, don't say no.
