Shishir's POV.

I laughed at Paresh and Suvi's bickering but don't really have my mind completely on it. All I can think of right now is that I still don't know why my Suvi had been crying.

I am tempted to side with Paresh so that I can have her sit next to me but I know if I do that my spitfire of a girlfriend will erupt right on my face.

I know asking her directly to sit next to me will have Danny and Paresh come up with jokes against me being totally besotted with my girlfriend. I am besotted, but do not fancy being teased about it.

I try to catch her eye so that I can try and convey with sign language to shift, but no! She does not even glance at my direction.

I bend my head down, lean it back in my attempt to catch her attention but she is either looking at the Eiffel Tower or is arguing with Paresh!

I see John, our driver approach our car and in my desperation to have her beside me I try waving my hand discretely. But no she is still not looking towards me!

My eyes fall on my phone and I message her.

"Sit next to me."

Send.

Beep Beep.

She does not even glance at the phone!

John has almost reached the car and I am really desperate to have my girl beside me and she is blissfully unaware!

I put my arm on the seat and from behind Paresh reach out to her and yank her coat and she is jerked back making her sit up. Startled she looks around and meets my eyes.

At last!

Using my eyes I try to motion her to come and sit next to me.

Of course she does not understand and frowns, her forehead creased and jerks her head up questioningly.

I sigh and just as John opens the car door I point with my eyes and eyebrows to her mobile.

Still frowning she glances at it. Right then John says "Sorry I had to keep you all waiting. I had to submit my papers at the hotel reception."

"It's perfectly fine John. We are anyways being highly entertained." Danny's amused voice makes my head snap around.

I groan silently when I meet two sets of laughter filled eyes of Paresh and Danny in the rear view mirror of the car.

Damn and double damn!

Without a doubt these two have witnessed my desperate sign gestures to get my girl next to me. Their saucy laughter just confirms whatever little doubt I had.

"You know Paresh, love needs no language." Danny says rather pointedly.

"I agree Danny. It can be silently conveyed." A delighted sounding Paresh joined in grinning ear to ear.

Great! My life is just great!

All because my girl was not bothering to look at me I thought grumpily looking outside the window as the car started moving.

My phone's message tone made me glance at it.

Suvi?

She is messaging me now?.

Moodily I check it.

"What did you think you were doing? They are laughing at us. Brainless boy!"

Brainless boy! Me?? She is the one who is the silly one. Not even glancing at her boyfriend.

I turn to glare at her to find her already glaring at me. She pointedly looked away and I did the same.

Let her stare at the 'beach' for all I care. I try to ignore every one in the car till the car reaches Boulevard Haussmann.

I could not help up dart a glance at the girl for whom I had planned up the whole thing. I saw her happy face as she looked around and felt my mood lighten up.

The best way to shop in Paris is on the streets so I had brought her here to the heart of Paris for shopping and roaming around.

John drove the car away for parking it and Paresh and Danny moved ahead already peering at some shop windows.

I stood quietly gazing at the girl who had the power to rule my emotions without any effort on her part.

Without warning she bounded upto me and jumped up flinging her arms around my neck. Taken by surprise I waver for a second before putting my hand around her waist and balance us. I hold on to her as she hangs few inches above the ground and chuckle.

Always the unpredictable one. I look at her and wince when she shrieked "Shishir!" I smiled at her obvious excitement.

"You might be a brainless boy but you are the best brainless boy!" she said sliding off me.

"That is supposed to be a compliment?" I asked raising my eyebrows as a smile tugs at my lips. My smile broadened when she bobs her head up and down to confirm.

I tweak at her cheek and pull her along beside me my arm around her shoulders.

Ten minutes later she is totally enthralled with her surroundings and Paresh points at a window displaying some trendy winter wear and both start talking at once.

"See that bright yellow coat!" Paresh said excitedly.

"It's not bright yellow silly. It's Golden yellow." Suvi scoffed and immediately their squabble started.

Danny covered his face laughing. "Shades of colours too!"

I stood chuckling beside him as the duo stormed ahead to check with the shopkeeper what that shade was referred as.

Danny looked at me. "I never pegged you to be romantic at heart."

I looked at him knowing exactly what he meant. Over the years I have had a reputation of being a high handed person with a no nonsense attitude. Only the people close to me have seen glimpses of my fun side.

"She brings it out of me." I say quietly looking in the direction Suvi had taken.

Before he could respond two disgruntled looking persons came out and Danny chuckled softly. "What happened?"

"I was right." Pushkar said firmly.

"No you were not. The shopkeeper said it is Sunny yellow." Suvi said sounding indignant.

"And the Sun is bright. So it is same as bright yellow!"

"Sunlight is golden yellow. So I am closer to it."

"Crap!"

"You are crap!"

Laughing I reached out to drag Suvi to the next window. "Paresh never mind what the shade is called, were you thinking of buying it?" I asked and a look of dismay came over his face.

"Yes! She made me forget I was wanting to buy it." He scowled at Suvi as he turned around to go back into the shop.

"You will look like a bright banana in it." Suvi shouted after him and I put my hand on her mouth to shut her up as Danny laughed and I shook my head at my spitfire.

My phone rang. I took it out of my pocket. I side stepped a bit away from others

"Hello?" I answered frowning at the number. My house landline number.

"Why is the goat here alone?" an unexpected voice boomed instead of my father's as I had assumed.

Dadaji!

"Hello Dadaji." I greeted trying to understand what he was saying. Then I remembered. He had named my father Billy.

Oh God! I thought to myself. They are back and Papa is there. Alone!

Karma I thought cynically, he had been trying to manipulate things now he is in trouble with his father not being happy with him.

Raghuath's POV.

Minutes before the call to Shishir.

I am happy I could give the good news to Suvarna yesterday. No matter what Shishir thinks I am fond of her. She is my best friends daughter after all.

Thinking of Prachi inevitably takes my mind to what happened years back. My thoughts get interrupted by the persistent ringing of the doorbell.

Who the hell is ringing like that I thought angrily as I yanked the door open. "Who are you mad man ringing the bell like this-" I stop abruptly as I see two old men on the other side.

One of them has his back towards me as he adjusts a bag and the other is staring at me with a pissed look on his face.

Who are they? I stare at the somewhat familiar looking old man in front of me and peer closely at the man with dark sunglasses covering his face as he continued to scowl at me. Wearing a bright red coat with dark blue jeans I was beginning to think he as some eccentric when the other old man turned around.

I gasped " Sharma ji!" then my eyes widened as I looked at the man in bright red coat. "Papa!" I managed to utter my voice barely a whisper.

I can hardly believe I am standing in front of my father after so many years! Thanks to the way he was dressed I could barely recognise my own father.

I rushed forward to greet them only to be shoved aside by Papa. "Are you done staring and blocking the door?" he said marching inside.

"Papa I did not recognise you." I started to say to hear him mutter. "Typical."

"Papa I have never seen you dressed in such colours." I tried again my words sounding lame in my own ears. How could I do such a big blunder? Now he will get angrier on me.

"Where are the others?" he asked

"They are not here. They have gone for a trip." I answered.

"Billy, get the luggage in." He said without turning back.

"Billy?" I repeated confused. Sharmaji was also inside the house so I just picked the the bags wondering who was Billy.

As I stepped closer I heard Papa's voice.

"Why is the goat here alone?"

Goat? My jaw fell open as I understood. He had been calling me Billy? Billy goat?

"No it's all right. You all have fun." I heard Papa say. After a few minutes he disconnected the call. " I am hungry." He announced before I could ask him about calling me Billy.

"Aloo Paratha." He continued to say looking at me and I stared at him.

"What?" I asked him feeling stunned.

"I am hungry. Make Aloo paratha for us." He said looking irritated.

"I ? I mean me? Aloo Paratha? I don't know how!" I blabbered.

"Go figure out how to make it and serve it within thirty minutes." He boomed.

"I will or-order something Papa." I gulped. He is still the same commanding personality and I still am speechless in front of him.

"Are you deaf or are just pretending to be hard of hearing? Make Aloo Parathas for us." He scowled at me darkly.

"Papa, I have not even hugged you once." I said softly, longing to feel his embrace after so many years.

"First food." He said turning away and leaving me crestfallen and dumbfounded.

How in the world will I make a silly aloo paratha? How does the potato get inside the paratha in the first place?

Five minutes later I am still standing in the kitchen staring at a potato wondering what am I supposed to do with it?

Roll it on the flour and place it on the girdle maybe? But then how will it get the round flat shape? No I think I will need to knead the flour into dough.

How did Nimmy make it? I think I will call her to ask. I dial her number "How to make aloo paratha?" I asked as soon as she answered.

"Huh?" came her bewildered response. I quickly explained to her and frowned when she started laughing.

"Okay take some boiled potatoes-" she started still laughing and I sighed in defeat.

I think my life just got hit by a tornado and turned upside down.

Suvarna's POV.

"Shishir? Can I ask you something?" I broach tentatively.

"What sweetheart?" he asked still looking at the shop in front.

"It's been quite some time. I mean-" I stopped short trying to form the words. "I should be going back to Delhi now." I blurted in a rush.

He slowly turned to face me and stepped close. His gaze was on my face, unflinching. Before I could react he pulled me to him "What did Anju Mami say?" He asked me softly.

Oh no! I don't want him to catch on that.

"I am thinking about it. Why will Anju Mami say anything?" I evaded not meeting his eyes.

"Dadaji called. They are back in London." He said not taking his eyes off my face.

Nanu is back in London? I thought happily.
