Slightly longer chapter!

Prema's POV.

I smiled as Suvarna di and Shishir walked ahead hand in hand. Their relationship had been through so much in the ten years that they had been apart but their strong bond kept the relationship intact.

It was almost as though a 'pause' button had been pressed for those years and now they were back together stronger than before.

A slight jerk brought my attention back to where I was and I caught my breath as Paresh's head leaned closer.

This man confuses me so much! I know he has feelings for me- at least I think he has. How can I be sure when he never says them. Even his actions are so confusing!

What he blurted out inside the court- did he mean it or was it a part of one of his foolhardy pranks that he loves to play?

Our eyes met as his head was just few inches away and all I could do was stare.

His grin only made my already quickened heartbeat go crazy.

"Prema."

I could only manage to raise my eyebrows in silent query.

"Thank you." he whispered confusing me. "You are too good." He said his head still close and my heartbeat went out of hand!

Next moment he moved away laughing making me look down.

I gaped open mouthed when I realised what he had been doing! The cucumbers I had removed from his sandwiches had been on the side of the plate. He had just picked them up and was now placing then inside the sandwiches.

Food! Food! Food!

That is all that he thinks of. I will show him food!

I grabbed a sandwich from his hand before he could react shoved a good portion of it inside his mouth.

"I hope it chokes you!" I walked away furious.

A tug on my wrist made me jerk back and I realised Paresg had pulled me back. Turning towards him angrily I saw he was rapidly chewing.

"You want to say something?" he asked, some sandwich still in his mouth.

I shook my head feeling pissed 'no.'

"You want me to say something?" he asked his voice soft and my heart went crazy again.

I shrugged my shoulders and he laughed softly. His fingers brushed against my cheek "Soon." He said his voice velvety soft and then he walked away.

I don't want to smile. I don't want to smile. It was no use repeating this chant in my mind. As always the man had managed to evaporate my anger and my lips pulled into a small smile.

Why is it so difficult to stay angry with this infuriating man?

'Soon.' His softly spoken promise of sorts seemed to echo loudly in my mind. I touched my cheek where he had brushed his finger making my smile broaden.

Suvarna's POV.

I waited silently as Shishir moved forward to question me once again.

"Miss Sharma what was the amount that had been taken as a loan by your father?" he asked me his face serious.

"I have no idea." I answered honestly.

"How can that be believed Miss Sharma when you have received so many documents over the years." He said his voice snappy.

"I did not get any documents." I shot back. I have told this already so many times.

"Miss Sharma-"

"She is right she did not." Shishir's warning tone was cut off by Raghunath uncle.

"My apologies for interrupting your honour but my client is telling the truth. She never got any documents. I, along with her family members ensured they never reached her."

My head snapped at uncle on hearing this.

They kept this from me? My family too? How could they? Why did they do it?

"Please elaborate Mr. Mehrotra." The judge said. Shishir nodded politely and went back and sat down, looking surprised himself.

Raghunath uncle started speaking as I sat down myself.

"When the first legal papers were sent they had been received by Suvarna Sharma's legal guardian Mr. Mahaveer Sharma, her maternal grandfather who himself has been a reputed lawyer."

Nanu? He was aware of all this?

"To avoid wasting the courts time I will get to the point. After Mr. M. Sharma talked to Mr. Gupta he realised this case would take some time to sort out and could lead to dispute. He along with some family members as well as me came to a decision – we would keep Suvarna out of this. She was already going through a lot of emotional turmoil after her parent's demise."

I felt my palms sweat. So much had been going on around me and I had no idea?

"We made a plan of pretending there to be family dispute on the premise to ensure she could not visit it freely, while we talked to the Mr. Gupta and his lawyers in our attempt to sort this confusion."

I gasped as the meaning hit home. My father's family had never claimed his property. I closed my eyes, not sure whether my relief was bigger or the shock of knowing this truth.

I had never really understood how my uncles who had been so loving to me always could do this.

Now I know they never had!

"To reinforce my words I have some of them as witnesses here."

Still reeling in shock I looked around. My uncles- my father's two brothers along with Nanu were sitting towards the back of the room. When had they come here?

Then my eyes fell on the person sitting next to my Nanu. My heart skipped a beat.

My paternal grandfather! I felt my eyes water. I am seeing him after a span of almost four years! He smiled at me as silent tears rolled down my eyes. I wiped them away mindful of my surrounding.

I sat in stunned silence as Nanu along with my two uncles spoke turn wise and revealed how indeed they had just been pretending there had been a claim on property only to protect me from the legal hassle.

Within minutes they established the fact that I had indeed been clueless of the legal proceedings and they had been attempting an out of court settlement.

"As already earlier confirmed by Mr. Rajesh Gupta, some time ago he had agreed to stop any further legal proceedings. That is when we decided to let Suvarna have the property back, a few months ago."

Raghunath uncle's phone call while we were in Paris!

He had sounded so happy. Now I understand why.

My conversation with Anju Mami right after it came into my mind. That conversation had drained away all my strength to think and the hotel property had slipped to the back of my mind for then.

Our kiss, Shishir's kiss in front of the Eiffel tower right after that came into my mind. I felt myself reel with so many conflicting emotions and covered my face with my hands.

I felt a hand on my shoulder "Suvi." Shishir's worried voice reached me surprising me. Horrified I realised I had started sobbing without really having any intention to and had unknowingly stalled the court proceeding momentarily.

Shishir must have rushed to me forgetting his role as my opposition lawyer!

"I am sorry." I hurriedly wiped my tears and looked around apologetically. "Drink this Suvi." Shishir said softly holding a bottle of water near my mouth.

"Shishir go! I am fine." I said looking around worriedly.

"It's Okay love, drink this."

"Shishir you are my opposition lawyer! Go." I said urgently worried someone may point an accusing finger at him. I saw his face harden at my words and he looked furious.

"Fine." He said thrusting the bottle in my hand "You drown yourself in this bottle while I proceed with the case."

Drown myself! Immature tall man! I glared at his back as he strode away.

"My brother is angry with you." Paresh said sounding delighted and I transferred my glare in his direction.

"And that makes you happy?" I hissed softly.

"He will spank your butt later." The brat commented standing up, making me gasp.

Idiot!

"Your honour." The brat continued in his role as my lawyer "It is evident my capable friend had not done his back ground check and pre work properly. Consequently he along with his team had been incorrectly maligning my client's name." He said pointedly towards Shishir.

"A new revelation does not mean initial work had been neglected." Shishir retorted.

"I will have it known my client is liable to sue you and your clients for the harassment she had to put through because of all this." Paresh warned.

"We will see Mr. Mehrotra who sues whom."

"We indeed will Mr. Mehrotra!"

How do the Mehrotra duo manage to slip into their roles so easily I wondered.

"I would like to ask Mr. Raghunath Mehrotra some questions." Shishir stated.

"Permission granted." The judge said. I glanced at the clock on the wall. It was already past four in the evening. Less than an hour for today's court proceeding.

"So Mr. Raghuath you were present when the papers of loan were signed?" Shishir continued as Raghunath uncle took his place in the witness box

"Yes I was."

Shishir lifted the papers in his hand "You were the lawyer and also among the witnesses."

"Yes."

"So when you signed these papers-"

"I did not."

What does uncle mean by that?

"You just agreed you have-" Shishir started to say.

"I deny these signatures to be mine. They are counterfeit."

Shishir's POV.

I stared at my father for a moment.

"This is ridiculous Mr. Raghnath," I said meaning it.

He turned towards the judge in response "I can prove it by asking some questions to Mr. Rajesh Gupta."

Coming back to my seat I watched as the wheelchair was once again propelled forward.

"Mr. Rajesh Gupta as you have already agreed that the initial amount mentioned and to your knowledge borrowed was only rupees fifty thousand I will not get into that detail again."

I looked on as my father continued "Was the amount paid by cheque?"

"Partly, rest was in cash."

"Elaborate the amounts."

"A cheque of fifty thousand had been drawn and later the rest was paid in cash."

"You had agreed to pay such a big amount in cash?"

Something clicked in my mind at this moment. Not that I had ever doubted, but now I was sure, Suvi's father had taken only the fifty thousand rupees!

If there was one man in this world who could demolish me inside a courtroom it was my father, my mentor. And right now he was a man on a mission.

"No, I had not been aware till much later." Mr. Gupta confessed.

"Such a big cash amount can be given out from your account without you being actually aware?" My father's cynical smile was unmistakable. "Anyways, let's believe it had been possible to have slipped your notice. When did you realise it?"

"Few years later when I was going through some documents."

"Let me elaborate Mr. Gupta and you can correct me if I am wrong." My father said and the man nodded.

"Your honour few years after Mr. N. Sharma whad taken the loan and also returned it Mr' Gupta realised his assistant was doing some major fraud with forged papers and large amount of cash swindling."

Mr. Gupta hung his face looking devastated.

"Were these papers a part of the papers recovered after he was removed from his post?"

"Yes." Mr. Gupta said softly.

"Is it possible he had forged these papers just like he had done with so many others?"

"Yes."

I sucked in my breath. Why had there been no such record evident? I saw Mr. Dutta also look stunned. So 'uncle' was also clueless!

"Was any legal action taken against your assistant?"

"No."

"No legal action had been taken your honour since the man in question happened to be Mr. Gupta's elder son!" my father addressed the judge as the courtroom erupted in a gasp.

I saw the senior Mr. Gupta look pale. "Your honour my father has just come out of coma! I request you to give another date." Ravi got up looking worried.

"Relax Mr. Ravi." My father turned to him looking dangerously smug. He had something more, I just knew it from his expression.

"Your father had never been in coma, not a natural coma that is." My father announced stunning me as well "It is no miracle that he came out of coma at the right time!"

"What rubbish is this?" Ravi shouted, furious even as the judge asked with the knock of his hammer on table for him to quieten down.

"Your honour Mr. Gupta's state of coma had been induced with medicine."

The clock struck five right then stalling court proceeding till next day.

"You have heard of that saying?" Suvi muttered. "Which saying?" I asked without looking at her while I continued to drag her with me towards my car.

"That a tall man's brain's brain get's stuck in his knees while he shoot's up height wise."

"Haha! Very funny." I said humourlessly as we reached my car. "You are coming with me so stop complaining."

"Mr. Knee brained you are man handling me." she said trying to free her wrist out of my hold.

"Knee brained! Listen you deserve a spanking!"

"Don't you dare say on my butt!"

"Butt?!" I said grinning as she gave me a horrified look only just realising what she had blurted.

"Where did your butt come in from?" I said pretending to turn her around to look and she shoved me away going red in the face making me laugh.

"I will kill Paresh." She mumbled and quickly opened my car door and sat in making me throw back my head and laugh as I sat behind the steering wheel

Raghunath had been protecting Suvi along with some of her family members to avoid giving her emotional turmoil!

Mr. Gupta had not been in coma.

Confusing? Things will be almost cleared completely in the next.

Who do you think will win?

Hope you all like the PaPre scene and of course the tiny SuShi scenes.

Precap Chapter 103.

Shishir's POV.

A loud whistle like sound made me and Suvi turn in that direction of her garden.

"Paresh!" Suvi shouted as I gaped at what he had in his hand.

A large- a huge mouse!

"What are you upto?" I asked as the creature wriggled in his hand.

"Suvi why is this cake wriggling and whistling?"

"Cake? You silly boy that is no cake! It is that rat in my kitchen- remember?" Suvi said stepping away from Paresh "It had been a mole actually, still small at that time. Now it lives in a corner in our garden."

"What?? It is not a cake? I thought-"

"Why will I keep a cake outside in the garden?"

"Phweeeeeet" a shrill angry whistle sounded from the mole.

"Mummmmy"
