Fred

"How much longer?" Mom groaned, earning a sigh from me.

"Mom," I bit, looking back at her, "we're not even halfway through yet."

"Maybe hiking wasn't the best idea for family fun," she muttered, kicking dirt around.

"How old are you?" Dad deadpanned, looking over at her.

Mateo lifted his eyebrows and sighed. "Can we please just go?"

"You guys are total slackers," Rose yelled, gripping her hips.

I looked up to find her about three hundred feet in front of us. "Sorry, Rose, your mother's not wanting to participate in the fun."

Rose shrugged, jogging up the rest of the hill. "I'm not waiting on you guys."

"Mom, just come on," I said, looking over at her.

"You seem to forget that I'm old, Freddy," she said, "I'm not a spring chicken like you. And neither is your father. In any way."

Dad looked over at her. "I'm doing just fine."

Adora pulled her sunglasses off of her face, resting her hands on her hips. "I'm not standing here and listening to you two argue for any longer. We're moving with or without you."

Alexis giggled and jogged up the hill, locking arms with Rose.

"See? She's pregnant and doing that shit," I said, "so come on."

I boosted Arabella up on my back, earning a giggle. "You must be strong, Freddy."

"Yes, I am definitely that," I said, "one time, Lena ordered this huge couch while Jo was away-"

"Oh, my gosh," Lena muttered, placing her sunglasses on her face.

"And I pretty much moved that entire thing by myself."

"That's not true," she said, shaking her head, "I had one end."

"It is true," I whispered.

"How are babies made?" Arabella confidently asked, resting her chin on my shoulder.

"Uh, rain check," Dad said, nodding.

"You check if it's raining to have a baby?"

Jo bursted out in laughter. "It's a vital part, Ari."

"Shut up," Dad sneered, giving Jo's shoulder a good shove. He chuckled and Lena grabbed his arm before he could fall.

"Really?" Arabella asked, looking at me.

"Something like that, kiddo," I said, letting out a heavy sigh as I got ready to take on the hill in front of me.

"Come on, scaredy cat," Rose yelled.

"Why don't you come get the kid off of my back and try it?" I bit back, looking up at her.

"Well, you're supposed to be this big, macho man. I'm dying to see it in the flesh."

She folded her arms over her chest after slipping her sunglasses down on her face. She was an absolute spitting image of Mom, definitely in this moment.

"Alright," I said, nodding, "you owe me twenty bucks when I make it up the hill without panting."

Rose nodded. "You're on."

I jogged up the hill, chuckling when I made it to the top with ease. "Ha."

"Wow, you won twenty bucks. Like you needed it," she said. She took a step closer, gasping. "Is that... heavy breathing?"

"Rose," I snapped, making Arabella jump down from my back.

"You said you could make it up the hill without panting."

"I'm not fucking panting," I said, gripping my hips.

"Language," Alexis said, grabbing Arabella's hand.

I leaned my head back.

"A deal's a deal," Rose sang, shrugging, "looks like your wallet owes me a shopping trip."

I let out a sigh as she ran off, looking over at Alexis. "I'm not equipped to have a daughter."

Lena

I walked out of the bathroom, tilting my head over. "Be honest?"

Jo turned around, buckling his belt. "I'd put a baby in you tonight if we were ready."

"I mean it," I said, looking at myself in the mirror, "is it too much?"

"No," he said, "trust me, I'd tell you if it was."

He pressed a kiss to my temple as he walked by. He sprayed on his cologne, making me take in a deep breath. "Hm."

He grinned. "Have you picked out your outfit?"

I nodded. "I got my dress from the dry cleaners after hiking. Remember?"

"Right," he said, slipping into his black button-up. "Good?"

"Great," I said, nodding at him through the mirror.

He sat on the edge of the bed and stepped into his shoes, watching me carefully slip into my rather tight dress.

"Okay, the hair, the makeup, the dress, and the heels?" I asked, spinning around to face him.

He nodded, spinning me around. "I like. A lot."

I pressed a kiss to his cheek.

"If I didn't know any better, I'd think you were trying to impress Tanner."

"That's definitely the case," I said.

"Mm hmm," he muttered, pressing a kiss to my neck. He pulled my body close to him, pushing his hips into my backside.

I allowed myself to relax into his touch, letting out a sigh. "Jo."

"Nope," he said, shaking his head as he pulled away from me, "no, you can't do that."

I giggled, grabbing my earrings. "What?"

"The thing that you do," he said, shaking his head, "mm mm."

"Alrighty then," I muttered, grinning at him through my small mirror on my closet door.

"Don't forget your coat," he said, snapping his fingers, "and be careful walking down the stairs. Please."

I shot him a mini glare.

He winked and walked out of the bedroom. I finished my business, making sure I didn't look like I'd overdone it too much. I shot myself a smile in the mirror and grabbed my coat, turning off the lights before carefully walking downstairs.

"Make yourselves at home, I mean it," Jo said, pressing a kiss to Adora's temple, "and I'm sorry. This was his only night in town and we weren't getting out of it this time."

"No problem at all," Santiago said, falling back on the comfortable couch, "any clue what time you'll be back?"

"Late," Jo said, looking down at his watch, "don't wait up for us."

"Have fun," Adora said, "and dios mio, Lena, you look stunning."

I smiled, tucking a chunk of hair behind my ear. "Thank you."

"You look like a princess," Arabella beamed, smiling up at me.

"You always look like a princess," I said, tapping the tip of her nose.

She giggled. "Have fun!"

Jo placed his hand in the small of my back, leading me to the elevator. We made the lengthy elevator ride worthwhile, until a few people joined us.

"Do you have underwear on?" He barely whispered, his hand resting on my hip.

I nodded, looking back at him. I pulled his face down to my lips. "A very tiny pair."

He grinned, biting down on his bottom lip. "Understood."

I smiled and stepped out of the elevator when it opened. The greeter was waiting outside for us, a broad smile on his face. "Your car, Mr. King."

"Thank you," Jo said, placing a twenty dollar bill in his hand.

We walked out of the building and Jo opened my door for me, watching as I slipped inside the car. He jogged around the back and opened his door, getting inside.

"It's cold," he said, rubbing his hands together.

I nodded, biting down on my bottom lip. "You know what's hot?"

He looked over at me as he pulled out into the road, eyes wide as if he was sure of what my answer would be.

"This heat," I said, nodding over at him, "it feels great."

He chuckled and nodded. "You got me."

"So. Tell me how you know Tanner again?"

He let out a puff of air. "I'll spare the actual details, but he was my buddy in college. All the stupid shit we did, we did together."

I smiled. "So I'm assuming-"

"Let's not," he whispered, patting my leg.

I giggled and we sat in a comfortable silence for the rest of the ride. Jo and I could not speak for hours at a time and have no problem with it, it's just how we were.

"That was a really nice drive," I said, "and I never knew this existed."

I opened my car door, admiring the restaurant tucked away from everything, outside of the city. It was obviously a restaurant you went to solely to spend an absurd amount on a steak.

"So the restaurant's downstairs, but when you go upstairs, it's magnificent. It's like a much less classy ballroom. All the wine you could ever want."

I smiled up at him and he wrapped his hand around mine as we walked the rest of the way to the restaurant. He opened the door for me and I stepped inside, shrugging out of my jacket.

"Josiah fucking King. Is that you, or am I having a wet dream?"

"Tanner," Jo chuckled, "what's going on, man?"

"Missing you," he said, winking.

I giggled, earning Tanner's bright blue eyes.

"And this must be the woman Josiah King could never get over."

I smiled. "Hi. I'm Lena."

He held out his hand and I grabbed it, locking eyes with him as we shook hands. "I've heard a lot about you, Lena."

"You, too," I said, pulling my hand away from his, "Jo seems to love you."

"We're how bromance started," he said, shrugging, "okay, follow me. Everything's on me tonight."

"No, Tanner, I'm not letting you do it," Jo said, shaking his head as we walked through the waiting area.

"Too bad, King," he said, shrugging.

He stopped at the hostess desk, making me look up at Jo. "He's a lot."

He chuckled, looking down at me. "You haven't seen anything yet."

Alexis

I quietly opened the freezer, pulling out the carton of ice cream I'd purchased for myself earlier. I pulled the top off and dug my spoon in, taking a huge bite.

"Mm," I quietly moaned, letting out a sigh.

I gently wiped the corner of my mouth, spinning around to see what time it was. It was a bit past one A.M., and I was up eating ice cream.

"Hi."

I jumped, dropping my spoon. "God."

"Sorry," Rose apologized, twiddling her thumbs in front of her stomach.

"N-no, it's fine," I said, grabbing my spoon from the counter, "did I wake you?"

"Uh, no," she answered, "my bladder woke me."

I smiled. "I can definitely understand that."

She took a few small steps into the living room, tilting her head over. "Is that Eddy's?"

I nodded. "Want some?"

She shook her head. "I'm trying to, you know, not."

I shrugged. "This is for the baby."

She smiled and walked into the kitchen, sitting at the island. "I wanted to talk to you while we were hiking."

"Yeah?" I asked, leaning against the counter, "about?"

I could tell she was putting together her sentence in her head. She folded her arms on the bar, looking at me. "You and Fred were best friends, right?"

"Mm hmm," I said, smiling as I ate another spoonful of ice cream. It seemed to get more addictive with each bite.

"And you had a boyfriend?"

"Yep, his name was Taylor. Hope he's doing well."

"And you loved both of them?" She asked, tilting her head over.

"I'll tell you a secret. There's a big difference between loving someone and being in love with someone. I loved Taylor, I was in love with your brother."

She chewed on her bottom lip.

"If I didn't know any better, I'd think you're having similar problems," I said, deciding to put a halt to my ice cream eating.

"I am," she said, nodding as she looked down.

"It hurts," I said, dropping my spoon in the sink, "I wouldn't wish it upon my worst enemy."

"How did you even navigate?" She asked, "I'm totally lost."

I bit down on my bottom lip. "I really hurt your brother and myself in the process. I fought it as much as I could. I really wouldn't recommend that."

"I have a boyfriend," she sighed, "the most loving, kind, perfect boyfriend."

I looked at her. "Maybe he's just not the one if you still fell for your friend."

She let out a shaky sigh, rubbing her temples. "It's not like I can say anything. I just set him up with a girl last night. He's probably going to hook up with her and they're probably going to cuddle-"

She cut herself off with a sob, looking down. "I'm on my period."

I let out a quiet giggle, wrapping my arms around her. "I promise, it'll work itself out."

"Do you want to see my boyfriend?" She sniffled, pulling away from me.

I smiled, tilting my head over. "What about the friend?"

Jo

I took a sip of my whiskey, my eyes glued to Lena from across the room. She was speaking to someone, a glass of wine in her hand. I knew after just this glass, she'd be on the verge of tipsy.

"So she's famous," Tanner began, "you're famous. You guys are, like, double famous."

I chuckled. "How much have you had to drink?"

"Swear I'm completely sober," he said, pressing a kiss to his cross necklace.

Both of our eyes landed on Lena.

"I'll bet she's a freak."

"I'll keep my knowledge of that to myself," I muttered, finishing off my whiskey. I placed the glass on the table next to me, sitting upright.

"Oh, come on. You don't want to share with the rather curious class?"

I smiled over at him. "No."

He leaned forward on his legs, narrowing his eyes. "Do you think she'd be willing?"

He looked over at me, his jaw taut.

"Willing to do what?" I asked, smiling up at the waitress who grabbed my empty glass.

"Have a threesome."

I was taken aback. Sure, Tanner and I had spent most of our last years in college having threesomes. But Lena?

"Lena's a goodie," I said, nodding.

He leaned back, grinning. "And all of those are freaks."

I looked over at him. "Listen, man, Lena's not those college girls, okay?"

"So are you telling me that you don't want to do it?"

I shook my head, my jaw taut.

"Because it seems like you're trying to deter me from even asking. If you don't want to do it, man, I respect that."

"If she says yes, I'm down," I said, looking over at him, "but if she doesn't, don't try to pressure her into it. I mean it. I'll beat your ass."

"Attaboy," he chuckled, standing up. He unbuttoned the top few buttons of his shirt, nodding down at me. "Come on."

I stood up, downing the rest of my second glass of whiskey. We approached Lena, and I was very curious to see how this would pan out.

Lena was undoubtedly a good girl, no matter how much she'd changed. She would always be that nineteen year old girl that was simply a baby.

"Drive safe, okay?" She smiled and waved at the woman she'd been talking to, turning to face us.

"Hi," she greeted, smiling a soft smile.

"Three tequila shots," I muttered to the bartender, bracing my elbows on the counter.

"So," Tanner began, "I was talking to your boy and I had an idea."

I threw my first shot back, subtly looking over at the two. I could tell Lena looked a bit confused.

"Why don't the three of us," he began, "get out of here, go to my hotel room, and, uh, have a good time?"

I kept my eyes glued to her as I finished off my last two shots, flexing my jaw. I patiently waited on her response.

"Did Jo know you were asking this?" She asked, looking up at Tanner.

"Yeah," he nodded, "Jo and I have lots of experience in this department. I promise, you'll be well taken care of."

She looked over at me and bit down on her lip. "And what did Jo say?"

"He said if you said yes, he's down."

She looked between the two of us, biting down on her bottom lip.

"Okay," she said, nodding, "yeah. Let's go."

My eyes went round and I looked over at her.

"Good deal," he said, grinning, "I'll go get our coats."

He walked downstairs and I stood upright, looking down at Lena. "We don't have to, you know?"

"Do you not want to?" She asked, tilting her head over.

"That's not it," l said, "but I know that's out of your comfort zone."

She bit down on her lip. "I promise, I won't pay him more attention than you."

I chuckled and wrapped an arm around her neck. "We're really doing this thing."
