Fred

"Eight hundred, nine hundred, one grand," Dad said, throwing the cash on the table in front of him.

"One grand," I said, throwing mine on the table.

He chuckled, shaking his head. "Are you excited?"

I nodded, looking around at the extravagant gender reveal party. Alexis had planned the actual party, but Lena, Adora, Mom, and Alexis's mom had decorated and already knew the genders of the twins.

"I'm nervous," I said, "what if it's two girls?"

"I'll keep you in my prayers," Dad said, tipping back his beer.

I chuckled, smiling when Jo walked over to us. "Hey."

"Hey," he said, smiling as he shrugged out of his jacket, "that meeting went dangerously well."

I looked over at him. "Do you know the genders?"

"Promise I don't," he said, grabbing himself a beer.

I clapped my hands, smiling. "I'm excited."

"Arabella did that exact same thing this morning."

I rolled my eyes. "Let me be alive."

Jo chuckled, wrapping an arm around Lena's neck. "Hi."

"Hi," she greeted, pressing a kiss to his cheek, "are we ready? Everyone's here."

I nodded, jogging over to Alexis. She spun around, squealing as she threw her arms around my neck. "I'm stoked."

"I'm nervous," I said, pressing a kiss to her temple, "and equally as excited."

"So we just twist these?" She asked, holding up a cylinder-shaped contraption.

"I guess so," I muttered, studying it.

I squinted up at the sun, resting my hands on my hips. "Is everyone ready?"

"Hold on!" Mom yelled, shoving past everyone. She held her phone up and I narrowed my eyes, shaking my head.

"Let her," Alexis whispered, "Mom, are you ready?"

"Yes," she said, smiling a broad smile.

Dad grimaced at mom, rolling his eyes as he folded his arms over his chest. I chuckled and grabbed mine, looking over at Alexis.

"Three," she excitedly said, her eyes locked on mine.

"Two," I said, my stomach doing a somersault.

"One!" Everyone yelled, and we popped open each of our smoke bombs.

"Holy shit!" I screamed, as soon as I saw the pink and blue smoke.

"Oh, my God!" Jo yelled, running over to me. He attacked me with a hug before anyone else could've possibly thought, and we both laughed.

"I'm having a girl and a boy!" I yelled, chuckling.

"Yeah, you are!" He yelled, pulling away from me.

"I'm having a girl!" Alexis screamed at the top of her lungs, jumping up and down.

"I'm having a boy!" I yelled, wrapping my arms around her waist. I picked her up and she squealed, pressing a kiss to my lips.

Dad held his beer up. "So I'm only out five hundred."

"Cancels out," I yelled, winking.

"Fred," Alexis said, cupping my face.

"Lex," I said, looking her deep in the eyes.

"We're doing this," she whispered, nodding.

"Yeah," I said, nodding with a smile. I felt tears clouding up my eyes, making me wrap my arms around her neck.

Dad smiled, nodding. "You're doing it, bud."

I smiled, closing my eyes as I rested my head in Alexis's neck.

Fred

I smiled, resting my head in my hand as Alexis rambled on and on about names.

"I want her to have a unique name," she said, shaking her head as she rested her hands on her hips.

I chuckled. "I'm sure she will."

She continued pacing around the living room, biting down on her nail. She looked over at me, smiling. "Hey. Did you know we're having a boy and a girl?"

"I think I heard that somewhere," I said, grinning up at her.

She fell on my lap, wrapping her arms around my neck.

"They're going to be so beautiful," she whispered, resting her head against my chest.

"Of course," I said, gently stroking her arm.

"And she's going to pep club president," she said, looking up at me.

"Mm hmm," I muttered, smiling as I closed my eyes.

"And he's going to be ridiculously smart," she said, "and ridiculously athletic."

I raked my fingers through her hair, pressing soft kisses to her head.

"What are we going to do when they get in trouble for the first time?"

"We'll figure it out," I said, looking down at her.

"I don't want to yell," she said, shaking her head, "I don't want to be those parents."

"You know, you've got these eyes," I said, "that relay everything you need to say."

"What if I'm not a good mom?" She asked.

"Hey," I said, grabbing her chin, "you're going to be the best mom on this planet."

"And what if I grow old?" She asked, sitting upright, "what if I don't understand my kids' terminology because I'm old?"

I chuckled, stroking her cheek. "I don't think either of us will grow old. I think we've got souls that are just too young."

She smiled, chewing on her lip. "Promise me something."

I held up my pinkie, grinning.

"We will not fall out of love," she said, "we'll balance raising our children and falling deeper in love every day."

I wrapped my pinkie around hers, pressing a kiss to them. "On everything I've got."

She smiled, pressing a kiss to my cheek. "Who would've thought?"

Her face in that particular moment took me back to when we were sixteen. To when we were simply kids with no idea as to what would happen.

"There is no way to stop loving you," I said.

She wrapped her arms around my neck, wrapping herself around me as if she was a monkey. I rubbed her back, pressing a kiss to her shoulder.

"What if she finds a Fred?" She whispered.

"I hope he finds an Alexis."

She smiled against my shoulder, and I felt a tear soak through my shirt.

"Hey," I whispered, "are you okay?"

She pulled away from me, wiping her cheek. "I just never would've thought. When I stole your seat at lunch, I never saw this."

I chuckled. "I'm really happy you stole my fucking seat."

She giggled as I wiped the tear from her cheek. "We're going to do this. And we're going to be the best goddamn parents around."

She wrapped her pinkie around mine, pressing a kiss to them. "On everything I've got."

Jo

"That was a wonderful date," Lena said, smiling up at me as we walked through the crowded city.

"I'm glad you enjoyed it," I said, gripping her hand tighter.

She smiled and rested her head against my arm. "You got really excited for Fred today."

I nodded. "I know he's going to be one hell of a dad."

She nodded. "Yeah. They deserve it."

We walked in silence, only the buzzing sounds of the city surrounding us. I was pulled out of my thoughts by a hand tugging at my pants.

I looked down, knitting my brows together.

"Hey, I've seen you on TV!"

I smiled down at the little girl, kneeling down. "Yeah?"

"Yeah," she said, "there's two of you."

I chuckled, looking up at Lena. "Yeah. My twin, Fred."

"Wow!" She said, "Mom, look! A celebrity!"

I pouted my bottom lip out. "I'm not a celebrity, but that's very flattering."

"Mom!" She said, grabbing her mother's pant leg.

"What, Isabella?" She asked, cradling her phone between her shoulder and ear.

"A celebrity."

Her mom gasped, grabbing her arm. "Isabella, don't bother him!"

"I-it's fine," I stuttered, shaking my head as I looked up at the obviously uptight mother.

"I'm sorry," she apologized, "she's nosy."

Isabella sighed, looking up at me as I stood up.

"Can I get a picture with you?" She innocently asked,
"I think it's cool that I got to meet somebody that I've seen on TV."

"Of course," I said, smiling.

She wrapped her arms around my leg and my eyes went round as I looked over at Lena. She giggled and nodded down at her. "I think she wants you-"

I knitted my brows together. "O-oh."

I gently grabbed her, placing her on my hip. "Hey."

"Hey," she greeted, grinning a toothy grin.

"Isabella," her mom sneered, snapping a quick photo, "I'm sorry, Mr. King."

"Well, it's Jo," I said, "or to my new friend, Isabella, at least."

She smiled, nodding.

"And it's fine," I said, smiling at her mother.

Isabella sighed. "Welp. Guess I gotta leave now."

I nodded, waiting on her to jump down, but she simply wasn't budging.

"That's your wife, right?" She whispered, lifting an eyebrow.

"Yeah," I whispered back, "isn't she perfect?"

"Yeah," she whispered, nodding.

"Cool," I whispered, "are you going to get down now?"

She jumped down and smiled up at me. "Well, see ya later, Jo!"

I chuckled, waving as she ran off. I hadn't even noticed the look Lena was paying me.

"What?" I softly asked, smiling.

She shook her head. "N-nothing."

We began walking through the city, again, in silence.

"I've never seen you," she said, "with a kid like that."

"Not my strong suit," I said, chuckling.

"No," she said, shaking her head. She stopped in her tracks and looked up at me, earning my eyes.

"Well damn-"

"Jo," she sighed, biting down on her lip.

"What?" I chuckled, wrapping an arm around her neck.

She wrapped her arms around me and shook her head. "Nothing."

I pressed a kiss to her head. "Come on, let's get home."
