three years later

Fred

"No, Alesia, I didn't ask for sunflowers. Who the hell wants sunflowers at their wedding?"

I leaned against the threshold, cracking a small smile. I was marrying a firecracker in just three days.

"Well, this should've been finalized months ago. And why it wasn't is beyond my knowledge."

I clenched my jaw in order to fight my smile. She turned to face me and rolled her eyes, holding up her pointer finger.

"Well, Alesia, it's also nine o'clock. Let's do this in the morning over caffeine."

She slammed her phone down, closing her eyes with a sigh.

"Ah, my pleasant wife," I said, walking further into my office.

"Your pleasant wife is pissed off," she muttered, shaking her head.

"You didn't make that blatantly obvious before," I said, wrapping my arms around her neck. I pulled her into me for a comforting hug and she relaxed in my arms.

"Three days, Fred. Three days. This-"

"Shh," I whispered, pressing a kiss to her head.

"Did you just shush me?"

"I did, bridezilla," I joked, looking down at her.

She cracked a contagious grin, pushing herself away from me. "Come on, I feel like terrible hosts."

She walked out of my office and I turned off my light, walking back into the dining area.

Dad smiled up at us. "Complications?"

"To say the least," Lex muttered, "b-but it's going to be settled. Hopefully."

"It will be," I said.

"What's the problem?" Adora asked, taking a bite of her salmon.

"Alesia, she apparently ordered sunflowers."

"Ouch," Adora whispered, taking a sip of her wine.

"What's wrong with sunflowers?" Dad asked, "nice and pleasant?"

Adora and Alexis were both looking at him with a look on their faces that only we could detect.

"I've just got a hard to please bride," I joked, rubbing Alexis's thigh.

She looked over at me and plastered on a fake smile, but I could see tears clouding up her eyes.

"Lex?"

She stood up, shaking her head before walking away from the table.

I stood up but Adora held up a hand. "I've got her."

"Oh, my God, what did I do?" I asked, my eyes the size of saucers.

"She's just under a lot of stress, Fred," Dad said, still shoveling food into his mouth, "you know us men do nothing for the wedding."

"W-well, that's not true. I dropped off-"

Dad held a hand up. "Does that amount to anything she's done?"

I sighed and bit down on my lip. "No."

"Exactly."

"Why's Alexis crying?" Arabella sweetly asked, her hands in front of her stomach.

"Freddy made her cry," Dad said.

Arabella tilted her head over. "Why?"

I sighed, resting my chin in my palm. "I didn't do it on purpose."

"But you still did it."

I stood up, wiping the corners of my mouth. "I'm going to talk to her."

I walked over to the staircase and looked up as Adora walked down, earning her eyes.

"Is she okay?"

She nodded. "Don't say anything, just let her talk."

I sighed and jogged upstairs, knocking on our bedroom door. "It's me."

I opened the door, peeking inside. I saw her sniffling as she dabbed a tissue under her eye.

I stepped inside and closed the door behind me. "Baby."

"I'm fine," she sniffled, "I don't even know why I started crying."

I wrapped my arms around her neck and pressed a kiss to her head. "You're under a ton of stress. I shouldn't have even joked about that."

Mission make it obvious that you were joking.

She sniffled against my chest. "My emotions are everywhere."

"They're allowed to be," I whispered, holding her close.

"I just made a total fool of myself," she muttered, pulling away from me.

"You didn't. Stop being so hard on yourself."

She looked up at me, tilting her head over. "These past few weeks really haven't been a walk in the park for you, have they?"

"Don't worry about me," I said, "you've been working your ass off to make this absolutely perfect."

"Well, it better be," she said, sniffling.

I wiped a tear off of her cheek, smiling. "It's going to be perfect."

Jo

"So how much longer are you going to make her wait?"

I looked over at Dad, my jaw clenched. "Thank you for reminding me that I'm a shitty fiancé."

"If the shoe fits," he muttered, looking down at his watch.

I smiled down at the boy standing in front of me. "Hey, dude."

"Are these toys for us?" He asked, smiling a toothy smile up at me.

"They are," I said, smiling down at him, "and guess what?"

"What?" He whispered, leaning closer.

I knelt down, nodding towards the Christmas tree. "See the beautiful lady with the brown hair?"

He nodded, looking over at me.

"She and I have a huge surprise for you guys. But you can't tell the old guy next to us, okay?"

He smiled, a finger over his mouth. I winked and let him run off, standing back upright.

"She doesn't want a winter wedding," I said, looking over at Dad.

"Excuses, excuses," he said, folding his arms over his chest.

Lena walked over to us, giggling. "They're tickled."

I smiled and wrapped an arm around her neck. "You did a good thing."

She smiled up at me, patting my abdomen. "What's the topic of conversation over here?"

"Stocks," I blurted, nodding down at her.

She nodded slowly. "Sounds fun, I think I'll go back over to the girls, though."

I smiled and let her go, admiring her from afar. "Look at her with those kids."

"Thought you didn't want kids."

"You escalate things way too quickly," I said, shaking my head.

He chuckled. "Don't get your panties in a wad."

I decided to ignore his comment and I walked over to where all the boys were sitting, playing with their newest toys that they seemed more than proud of.

"Is this remote control?" I asked, squatting down next to the five boys sitting in a circle.

"Yeah! Wanna try?" One asked, holding the remote out to me.

I nodded and grabbed the remote, aiming the car towards Lena. I pressed the button for it to go and the boys and I all watched as it barreled towards her.

She jumped when it hit her heel, turning around to look at us.

She picked the car up and walked over to us.

It's wrong to be turned on in an orphanage.

She placed a hand on her hip, looking down at us. "So who's the culprit?"

All the guys pointed at me.

"Guys," I scoffed, looking up at her.

She lifted a perfectly done eyebrow, motioning for me to get up.

I stood up. "Wish me luck."

She smiled up at me and gently grabbed my hand, pulling me to the side. "Should we tell them now?"

I gripped my hips, looking around at all the kids. They were content with their toys, all smiling and seemingly a bit happier than they were before.

"Yeah, let's tell them," I said, nodding.

She wrapped her arms around one of mine, smiling. "Hey, kiddos?"

It was surprising how quick she gained the attention of all the children.

"So, you guys know that Mr. King and..." she trailed off, "the other two Mr. Kings gifted you guys with all these toys, yeah?"

All the children nodded, smiles on everyone's faces.

"Well, this Mr. King and I have another surprise for you guys," she said, her hand resting on my abdomen.

"What is it?" A little girl asked.

"Are you sure you guys are ready?"

Everyone yelled and Lena giggled, letting go of me. I could feel her excitement radiating off of her skin.

"You guys have a game room and a spa room coming!"

Everyone's reactions were priceless. I couldn't help but to chuckle and wrap an arm around Lena's shoulders.

"Now that was her idea," I said, "so you guys need to thank her."

The kids attacked her with a hug, erupting a giggle from her.

"And on top of that, your playroom is getting revamped! How awesome is that?"

"We love you!"

Lena's huge, bright smile faded into a softer one. She knelt down and grabbed the kids' hands. "And I love you guys."

I smiled and stepped back, standing next to Dad.

"That was amazing of her," he said, nodding over at me, "be sure to thank her for me. Again."

I looked down at her, smiling. "Yeah, I will."

Fred

"You're like a broken record, I swear," Alexis muttered under her breath, rifling through the clothes in her closet.

"Well, Lex, someone's got to say it," I said, shrugging into my button up.

"Okay, and that someone doesn't have to be you a million times."

I looked over at her as I buttoned my shirt up.

She pulled a dress on over her hips, looking at herself in the mirror.

"Oh, my God, no," she said.

She ripped it off and I rolled my sleeves up. "Lex, it looked amazing."

"No, it didn't," she argued, pushing her clothes aside to search for another dress.

I bent down and picked the dress up. "What was wrong with this one?"

She looked down at me and shook her head. "It just hugged the wrong places."

I sighed and stood up, placing an arm in front of her closet.

"Fred, I have to get ready," she said, and I heard her voice break.

"Lex-"

She shoved my arm away and walked over to our bed, sitting down. She rested her elbows on her thighs and covered her face with her hands.

I dropped the dress, kneeling down in front of her. "Sweetheart, you looked beautiful."

I grabbed her hands and kissed her fingertips, looking up at her.

"Nothing's right," she breathlessly said, squeezing her eyes shut.

I knitted my brows together. "We're getting married in two days. That's good, right?"

She sniffled, looking down at our hands.

"Listen," I said, "I know I've not been able to help. I know work keeps me from you and this and everything, but Jo and I are working day in and day out-"

"Trust me, I know," she sniffled, standing up.

I looked back at her. "Is that what this is about?"

She stood in front of me, clad in pantyhose and a bra. "I need you. Right now more than ever, to be honest with you."

I stood up, walking over to her. "That's why I'm working day in and day out. I'm trying to create something so huge that I don't have to be there every day."

She looked up at me.

"For when we have kids," I said, gently grabbing her hand.

She pulled away from me quickly, shaking her head. "I-I need to get ready."

"What is wrong, Alexis?" I asked, "I'm trying to figure it out, and I'm trying to fix it-"

"Please let me get dressed in peace," she firmly requested, looking over at me.

"We have our rehearsal dinner tonight. We have to act like we're excited to get married."

"Fred, if I'm being honest with you, I'm ready to get it over with," she said, smiling a tight smile as she nodded.

I clenched my jaw. "So that's how you feel about it."

"In terms of the ceremony and all the stress," she said, rubbing her forehead, "don't take it in a different direction."

I clasped my watch on my wrist. "I'll be downstairs."

"Fred, I'm not arguing about this," she warned.

"I'm not either," I said, looking at her through the mirror, "it's just disappointing to know you feel that way."

"It's not that I'm not excited to finalize things," she said, "that's not it, I'm just ready to get the ceremony out of the way. It's nothing beyond that."

"I guess I was stupid enough to think you were eager to marry me," I muttered, spraying on some cologne, "that maybe we were on the same page."

"You know, obviously we are not, considering you made me wait three years."

I stopped in my tracks, looking at her from under my eyelashes.

"This became a shut the fuck up ring after about, oh, I don't know, a year ago."

I furrowed my brows together. "Alexis, we've been busy-"

I could tell she was ignoring me, and that by this point, I was most definitely wasting my breath.

She stepped into a black dress that she'd finally decided on, slipping her jacket on after. She pulled her perfectly done curls out of her coat and stood next to me. "It is what it is, Fred."

"I don't want you to feel that way."

She looked over at me. "So prove me wrong."

I took a step closer to her and she shook her head, sliding a bracelet on her wrist. "I don't want to have sex. I want you to show me-"

"If I didn't want to marry you, if I didn't see myself growing old with you, I wouldn't have ever asked you to," I said, nodding, "let that sink in."

She looked up at me, her brown eyes full of so many emotions.

I grabbed my keys. "I'll be in the car."

Hiii guys!! ♥️♥️

Omg THIS CHAPTER HAS BEEN IN THE WORKS FOR WHAT SEEMS LIKE MONTHS NOW.

Okay! So how did we like? Three years passed, Alexis and Fred are getting married SO SOON!!

Whilst we're on the topic of Alexis and Fred- I won't be writing the ceremony. I don't want it to be a replica of Santiago and Adora's ceremony, and I really have no clue how else to write a wedding ceremony. Now if you guys would like me to write the ceremony at a later date and add it in as a "flashback," I'll consider that, but I just don't want to write it if I'm being 100% honest. Not right now at least. And we're going to be VERY scrunched on timing with this book, considering there's two weddings AND lotssss of other events happening. So I won't be writing Jo and Lena's either, but do not fret!! The honeymoon will for sure be written. Definitely not skipping out on that.

Okay! Ah. Finally got to say that lol ^

Anyways!! How are you guys feeling so far? I'm sorry if it was a bit underwhelming, but I can assure you that the next few chapters will have you guys MINDBLOWN. And I mean it. You probably won't even see it coming. ;)

I love you guys so so much. Thank you so much for sticking around and reading this book as well! ♥️ I can't thank you guys enough for the endless love and support you guys have given me.

Tell me how you felt! Leave any comments and also, tell me what you guys would like to see next! Events for the honeymoon, etc etc. Anything is definitely welcomed! ☺️

I love you all so so much.

Xo,
Jay
