Lucas and I stayed inside for a while, not really wanting to leave the warm indoors until we finally decided to head out to the garden. I couldn't contain the joy bubbling inside me when he suggested we go outside to talk, at the thought of seeing it again I had jumped up and ran to my room to grab my jacket.

I didn't know why or how, but I seemed to develop a connection to that place even though I had only gone once, but the beauty of it was just so immense that it would constantly play in my mind in the weirdest of times.

Currently, we were both seated on a bench in front of the grand fountain, I was snuggled up in multiple hoodies while Lucas looked as if he wasn't affected by it. I had tested it earlier, to see if he could even feel the cold by throwing a snowball at his back- turns out he did feel cold.

He shook the snow off his own jacket, muttering something under his breath, before beginning to speak to me after double checking that all the snow was off him.

"Alright, just somethings I need to know." He started and I faced him. "Are you positively sure that you're not a wolf? It's just it would make so much more sense- not even just sense it would even help with finding your dad."

"Father."

"Sorry, father," Lucas repeated and waited for my answer.

I bit my lip, and shook my head. "I'm pretty sure... how do you even know you're a wolf?"

Lucas didn't meet my gaze but instead looked at the snow piled up near my feet as he mulled over whatever was going through his head.

He shrugged, "You just know." I nodded at him and looked down at the snow also. "What's your father's name?"

"Gregory Myers." I said immediately, swallowing right after I said his name.

Lucas got quiet before asking once more, "And your mother... what is her name?"

Tears pricked my eyes, but I ushered them away. "Her name was Diana Myers."

"Diana..." Lucas repeated "Diana, Diana. Where have I heard that before." I looked over at him and the gears that were undoubtedly shifting in his head. "Do you know what her maiden name was?"

I blew out, taking a moment to think. "Something with an S, I'm sorry I can't really remember what exactl-"

"Was it Stevens?" Lucas cut me off, looking intently at me.

I nodded immediately, filled with curiosity "Yeah, I'm pretty sure it was... How do you know that?"

He rubbed mouth with his hands before continuing, "The Stevens were a family that almost every wolf knew of." He looked at my puzzled face. "It all started with- if it is true that your mother's last name is Stevens- your great grandfather." I nodded, urging him to continue. I knew absolutely zero about my family. My mood dampening slightly at the fact Lucas knew even more than I did. "He rejected his own mate, choosing to spend his life with a human. Eventually, he had kids, the werewolf gene being slightly more and more diluted with every generation."

I gulped, was I a wolf?

"Your family caused quite an uproar in the werewolf community... let's just hope no one finds out about this."

My brain felt mushy with all this new information. "Wait... so you're saying that I'm a werewolf?"

He shook his head, "I wouldn't say so. Your fathers human, I know for sure of that. You have the gene, but you're just not." I sat still, as I absorbed this. "We could test it out though. See if you can shift."

"Too much... all at once." I rubbed my temples. Another question popped into my head, and I sighed as I leaned forward on my elbows. "What would happen if anyone else found out about this?"

"Hard to say what they would do for sure, the pack could not recognize you as their Luna... your family was well hated."

"Gee, what a great lineage I come from.." I joked sourly.

Lucas nudged my shoulder, "It doesn't matter where your family came from, or what they did. All that matters is what you do."

I smiled at him, "Wise words grandpa."

He booped my nose, "Very wise word, that you should listen to. Horndog."

My smile fell, "I never should have opened my mouth."

"Nah." He smirked down at me. "I think its very well fitting."

I reached down and grabbed a mound of snow. Threatening to hit him with it.

"I'm only kidding Dawn." He said with a smile in his voice. I set the ball down, narrowing m eyes jokingly at him. I liked how he smiled. He would always try to hide it before, and now seeing his cheeks lift up, and the dimple appearing on one side of his face filled my heart with such warmth that's just too hard to describe.

"Anything else you want to ask?" I questioned.

He nodded, "But, we can go inside, it's too cold out here. I only really came out here because I knew you like this place."

"So you do get cold."

He laughed, before extending his hand. I grabbed it and we both stood up, I turned my head, taking one last long look at the garden before following Lucas back towards the castle.

"You know that fountain is really gorgeous," I told Lucas, after a moment of silence between us.

"I think you're gorgeous..." He muttered, before snapping his head towards me. His cheeks burning up immediately. "I meant- what I was-" I just stared at him as he continued rambling. "You know what?" He said and I raised my eyebrows.

"You are."

My brain racked for a smart ass response, a con of spending so much time with Zeke. But it struggled to come up with any. So instead I just kept opening and closing my mouth like a damn fish.

He continued walking, dragging me behind him. "I don't understand. I used to exude confidence. Never mumbled, never stuttered, never got nervous." He faced me, his eyes racking my whole face over and over before just stopping short as his eyes landed on my mouth.

"Then I met you."

I said nothing.

He stopped walking, he turned so he could be face to, well air. My mans was a foot taller than me.

Slowly his hand came into view, I just stared into his eyes. Afraid of what would come out of my mouth if I even spoke. It landed softly on my cheek, the pad of his thumb brushing my skin ever so softly. The simple action causing my knees to weaken. He held my cheek in his hand while his other hand slipped out of his pocket to grab my waist. Pulling me closer to his warm form. He slowly started to lean in, he moved at the rate of a snail and I shut my own eyes a beat after his own eyes shut. Following suit I leaned in with him. Till we were only just a hairs width away. I felt myself relaxing, actually wanting this...

"Alpha! Is that you?" A voice called out. "Oh dear! I'm so sorry!"

My eyes sprang open, I saw Lucas so close to my own face. His eyes were glued shut as I watched his hand move from my cheek and turn into a slight fist. I moved back as he opened his eyes. Pure black pools staring back at me.

We both turned to face the intruder, and it was no other than Mrs. Ross.

I clenched my own jaw in anger as she innocently smiled at the both of us.

"Mrs. Ross, sorry to be blunt. But what are you doing here?" Lucas said, his voice conveying a different emotion than the rage going on behind his eyes.

She laughed, tucking a tendril of gray hair away from her face. "It's just, we've been waiting for a while. None of your aid was any help in trying to find you. By the way, where are all your maids? Barely anyone here at the castle." She laughed, but neither Lucas or I laughed along with her.

I shut my eyes at that harsh reminder, I had forgiven Lucas for that but damn, it still hurt. I opened my eyes only to see an apologetic looking Lucas with his mouth wide open to say something to me.

"I should go." I said, not waiting for a response and walking towards the castle alone.

"Dawn." Lucas started but I was already out of range to hear him, Lucas turned to face Mrs. Ross. Who was pretending to not look guilty of coming in between such an intimate moment with Lucas and me,

Trying hard to cover his emotions with his mask. He regarded her with distaste. "You said we?"
