I stared at his figure, my eyes never left his as I slowly set the rag down on the table. My eyes hesitantly flickered to the door, it was unlocked. I gulped, feeling my body shake in fear. I held my head up, keeping my eye contact with him. I started preparing my body to break out in a sprint. He still had all his attention fixated solely on me. Looking at me like prey, and that's exactly how I felt.

I felt my legs exude force as I pushed myself as I ran towards the door, locking it as fast as I could with shaky hands. I whipped my head to look at a pale Dolores. "Dolores! Is there an exit?" I yelled.

She merrily pointed back to the kitchen, still in shock of Lucas' appearance. I dashed past her as I heard a growl rip through the air. The sound evoked tears but I pushed them back. No time to cry, Dawn.

I looked around the kitchen, but there wasn't an exit in sight. I heard the pounding of the door, as I attempted to push open the windows that were bolted shut. My hair bounced about as I looked around the room like a maniac, trying to find a way out.

All of a sudden I heard the splintering of wood. A large crack bit the air, then the sound of a door falling. Oh lord, I thought. He's in the house.

I caught a glimpse of his seething body as I ran to the stairs. I heard him growl as my feet hit the steps. I couldn't tell how fast I was going but I just knew I had to go faster.

The room I woke up in still had its door wide open, I entered the room and wasted no time pushing the balcony door open. I looked over the railing and to the rocky terrain under, it wouldn't be too bad of a jump. Would it?

I guess I had taken too much time evaluating whether to jump or not that Lucas had enough time to enter the room.

He stood by the entrance, his hair no longer in a gelled state, it flew freely on his forehead. In the light, you could see the beginning of dark circles under his eyes. He was wearing the same shirt I had last seen him in. Meaning he had been looking for me all night and this whole day. He took a step closer, and I instinctively took one back, my butt hitting the railing as my arms sprung out in front of my body.

"Dawn." He said calmly, but you could sense the radiating anger just seeping through his words.

I shook my head. "No, don't you dare take a step closer to me," I yelled. "Even one step forward and I'll jump! Right off this balcony." I threatened, pointing at the ground.

"Dawn." He said more sternly. "Don't make me drag you back to the castle. Because there is nothing refraining me from doing so." He took a step forward. Not believing I would have the balls to leap.

Oh but I did.

I turned quickly and swung one leg over the railing, following suit with my other. Now standing on the thin ledge I looked back and saw him running towards me. I glanced down at the ground beneath me, it wasn't that bad of a fall, I tried convincing myself. I closed my eyes and let go of the ledge, I started free falling and I knew that the ground would come to swallow me up real soon. I bent my knees right before I landed, I extended my knees after I finally hit the ground. Landing softly on the balls of my feet. Still holding onto the energy from the fall I tucked my body and started rolling forward, various stones and sticks that jutted upwards from the ground struck my face, drawing thin cuts on my face. I laid sprawled out on the gravel underneath me. I quickly got up, knowing better than to stay there.

I ran, with my head looking behind my shoulder, I saw him staring at disbelief at me. His grip had hardened on the railing as he followed suit and jumped off the balcony. Him, having werewolf abilities, made the fall look graceful. He landed on his feet, and he snapped his head up as I turned my head still running God knows where.

I whimpered at the same time he snarled. I kept running, but the sound of my bare feet crunching on the gravel couldn't distract me from the snapping of bones. As soon as I processed that Lucas had shifted I was tackled down to the ground. The wind was knocked out of me as I laid on the dirt floor while he bared his teeth at me.

I could feel myself losing my adrenaline, quicker and quicker. He shifted back into his human form in a mere two seconds as he lay pressed against me. His coal eyes no longer masking any sense of calamity. He gripped my arms and lifted me up. I kept my eyes on him, not letting them wander down from his shoulders. During the shift, his clothes must've ripped. And he was so very bare.

He shook my body but my brain did not process his words. Maybe it was the way I felt the tingles slowly creep up my arms or maybe it was because fatigue had finally caught up with me since all my adrenaline had decimated.

I blinked slowly. Then rapidly. I saw his mouth move with every word he spoke, but I couldn't hear it. I watched his face morph from anger to confusion. I felt his grip loosen and my eyes rolled.

"Dawn?" His voice was now clearer, "Hey, hey, hey." I peeled open my eyes.

I stared him down, with my droopy eyelids. "Damn werewolves." I whispered under my breath.
