An hour or so later, Hugo came in and said that he had to get back to the church to run the next meeting.

"Your mom and Luke are staying behind with you. But everyone else is coming to the meeting," he said.

I nodded and sat up.

"He should be fine. If anything seems abnormal, however, have your mom come and get me at the church."

I nodded again.

"Is he asleep?"

"Yeah," I said.

"He's lucky he has you, you know. Bryan was telling me that he thinks that's why he's still alive. Because of you."

I smiled. He walked a few steps into the room.

"I just wish. . . I mean, Bella has someone; you have someone. I just thought that when I finally summed up the courage to talk to her, she and I would take off and go live somewhere, like Hawaii, without our parents, and we'd make a living there—"

"Wait. You have a one eighty-one IQ. Didn't you think that there would be problems with that, like implications?"

"Yeah, of course I did. But I just wanted a family. You know my mom, Josie, wasn't home much either. That's why I related to Bella. Though Blake was home often, that didn't mean he cared about Bella. It's almost like our parents didn't care one bit. We were also orphans, in another sense, at least."

I frowned. "I'm sorry." I didn't know what else to say.

"Don't worry about it." He waved his hand down.

"Well. I should probably go. I'll see you later." And with that he disappeared into the hallway.

I lay back down and could hear Liam's heartbeat again. It made me feel safe—hearing his heart and feeling the pulse in his wrist. I don't know why it made me feel safe, but it did.

I heard the door close and the sound of voices decrease. Mom and Luke were in the kitchen and I could hear them talking—I couldn't quite make out the words, though.

Liam took a deep breath and I looked up at him, with my head still on his chest. His eyes were open, and he smiled when we met eyes.

"Can I get you anything?" I asked him.

"Water?" He said, with a little more energy than he had before.

"Of course." I got up and ran to the kitchen.

"Everything okay?" Mom asked.

"Yeah. He's just thirsty," I said and then ran back to the room with the water glass in my hands.

I helped him drink the whole glass. When he finished, he smiled.

"I feel much better," he said.

"Good."

He looked down at his leg under the covers. "I don't feel a thing. It's like all the pain has stopped."

"That's good."

"Yeah, but, I can't even feel my leg. I can't move it. I can't move either of my legs," he said and bit his lower lip.

"Oh no. Mom!" I yelled, and she ran in with Luke on her tail. "Liam can't feel his legs."

"Well he has been out for two days. . ." Mom began. "I think it's normal to feel numb after being in a coma. We will have to ask Hugo when he comes back. Also, we'll keep an eye on it and if, after another day or two you still feel numb, we'll have to do something about it."

I nodded.

"Do you need anything else, Liam?" Mom asked.

"No ma'am, thank you," he said.

"Of course, Liam. I'm here if you need me." And with that, she and Luke walked out.

I sat down on the bed and we held hands. "At least you can feel your upper body."

"Yeah. My arms feel a little numb and tingly, but I can squeeze your hand, which is good." He squeezed my hand and smiled again.

"I'm so glad you're okay," I said.

"Me too. I hope we can get that phone and get back to the future soon."

"Yeah. Same. Hopefully we can get it tomorrow, when they raid the castle."

"I hope that goes well and that there's no problems," Liam said, with no anger this time.

"I hope so, too. . ." I didn't know what else to say, so I lie back down and put my head on his chest and listened to his steady heartbeat.

"Everything is going to be okay," he said. "I'm here now. And I'm not going anywhere. No matter what."

A tear fell down my cheek. I was so glad he was okay. These past two days had been brutal. Not knowing whether he was going to wake up, and just stop breathing altogether. But now, I have hope—hope that he's going to make it.

I fell asleep knowing that when I woke up, Liam would still be alive and awake.

"Kyara, wake up." I heard Liam say.

I opened my eyes and wiped away the sleep from my eyes. Then I pulled my head off his chest and looked up at him.

"They're back," he said. And that's when I heard Hugo and Bella talking in the kitchen. I heard my name and then saw Bella and Hugo appear in the doorway. Bryan and the others followed.

"We figure that Liam should hear what's going on as well, so we all decided to come in here," Dad said. I sat up, still holding Liam's hand.

"Everything okay?" I asked.

"Yes," Hugo said and sat on the chair in the room while everyone else either stood in the room or sat up against one of the four walls. "Everything is set. We raid the castle tomorrow when the sun is at its highest point."

"Why then?" Liam asked.

"It's the best time to do it. That way we have daylight when we are searching the castle for the phone. It may take a few hours to find it because we don't know where it is exactly," Hugo said.

"So, what's everyone's job?" I asked.

"Hugo, Dad, and I are in the fight," Bryan began. "You and Bella will be in the church, while the fight is happening—"

"Wait. I thought I was staying here with Mom, Luke, and Liam?" I said.

"No, we need you for when the fight is over. You'll be with us in the castle, looking for the phone. We need as many people as we can get in the castle," Bryan said.

"Why?"

"Hugo and Bella will be looking in the east wing, as you, Dad, and I will be looking in the west wing." Bryan said. "Mom and Luke will stay behind with Liam. He'll be safe that way. Also, while you and Bella are in the church, you'll be with all the women and children of the town. There's only about fifty of them. The doors will be locked, and you'll all be safe, just in case the worst happens."

"And if the worst happens, what happens to Mom, Luke, and Liam?" I asked.

"The worst won't happen. We have forty-two strong men against twenty. We'll be fine. But, Mom and Luke will have swords and you and Bella will too." Bryan said.

"But we'll be fine. The odds are against the king," Hugo said.

I nodded. "Okay." If Hugo thought the odds were with us, then we would be okay.

"So, once the fight is over, and we win," Bryan began, "Hugo is going to run back and get you and Bella, we decided that he was the fastest of us all; then the rest of the plan will be in place. Every thirty minutes, if it takes longer than half an hour to find the phone, we will meet at the entrance to see if the other group found the phone."

"Sounds like a plan," I said.

"I think it's a great plan. I will, of course, be useless, sitting here doing nothing," Liam said.

"Liam. Stop. You were in a coma for the past two days. We don't expect you to do anything," I said.

"Yeah. Kyara is right. Don't be so hard on yourself," Bryan said.

"Fine. I'm sorry," Liam said.

I gripped his hand in mine. "You have no reason to be sorry."

"Anyway, this gives Mom and Luke a reason to stay behind and not get into trouble," Bryan joked.

Liam shrugged slightly, "I just wish I could be of help."

"Don't worry about it. We need you to get better. That's the most important thing," Bryan smiled at Liam.

Liam nodded once.

"Alright. We should let Liam rest," Hugo said. "Everyone out."

"I'll start making dinner," Mom said as everyone piled out of the room.

"I need to talk to you about something. . ." Liam said to me when everyone was out of earshot.

"Yeah?" I asked, a bit nervous about what he would say.

"You may not believe me, but I think I may have seen the future, when I was in the coma. And I don't think I'm supposed to tell anyone about it, but how can I not?" He took a deep breath and looked at me.

"Maybe we can change the future, if you tell me what you saw. . ." I said, unsure if I actually believed him.

"Well, some of what I saw is good, and some bad, so I don't know if it would be worth trying to fix it. But. . ." he trailed off. I could see fear in his eyes.

"But?" I asked, and he took a deep breath. "What?"

"The bad is pretty bad. The good is pretty good, but I know it doesn't outweigh the bad."

"Okay. . . Just tell me." I was getting a little frustrated at the situation. Why couldn't he just spit it out? Was the bad really that bad?

"Sorry. . ." He took another deep breath. "We go to another time after this, but we have to go to this time in order to get back to our time."

"Why?"

"Because we meet someone." He looked away from me. "I don't know if I should even be telling this, let alone, if I should even know this or if it's even true, but I already started and you're going to ask too many questions. So, I guess I have to keep going . . ." He trailed off.

"Okay, who do we meet?"

"Your ex-boyfriend."
