Lunchtime is finally here. My friends and I were seated at the center table talking about school staff. Suddenly, there was excitement in the cafeteria. I looked at some of the girls bewildered then look to my friends for an explanation.

Juliet rolled her eyes and explained, "The football team in this school is very popular among girls."

"How about other teams?" I asked

"The school is more focused on sports that gives us an edge over other schools. We don't have basketball teams, soccer, or lacrosse. We only have the track team, softball, football, and swim team."

"Oh. I see. What year is your brother?" I asked Juliet.

"Junior. Same year as us. Why?" She replied.

"Has he always been popular?" I asked.

"He's been popular since primary school. When he tried out for the football team during freshmen year, the coach immediately put him as a quarterback. The rest of the team are thinking of making him team captain this year, which is a first as it is usually the seniors who get to lead the team."

"No wonder his ego is as wide as the football field," I commented. My friends laughed at my comment.

"Actually, what's nice about this school is that your superiority in the year level is not really a factor why one should become team captain. If the team sees that you have the potential to lead them, they would support you."

"And mind you, his brother is that good," Andrea commented.

"Wait, how come you and your brother are both juniors? You don't look like twins."

Andrea laugh and Juliet was blushing.

"Juliet started school early," Sheena explained.

"How come you and Tyler don't look the same for being twins?" Juliet asked.

"I looked like my mother while Tyler looked like my father," I explained.

Suddenly an arm snaked around my waist and I shrieked in alarm. I turned around and saw Jake. I glared at him. He grinned.

"Get your hands off me, Jake," I said.

Tyler looked at Jake and frowned. "Look, man, I like you as a friend but this is my sister we're talking about. So, hands off or I'm going to disfigure that pretty face of yours."

Juliet chuckled and said, "That's a first."

Jake grinned and said "Nah, she's not my type. I meant no offense. I'm just fooling around." He pulled away from me and started eating his lunch.

Ouch, what does he mean by "I'm not his type?" Uugh.. This guy is just so insulting.

I glared at him. "Well, you're not my type either."

He laughed and I stuck my tongue out at him. My friends laughed.

"You're so childish Chris," Sheena commented.

"Well, he started it." I turned to look at Tyler. "Ty, did you get what I asked you?"

"Oh yeah, I almost forget. Here." He took out the application form in his bag and gave it to me.

I pulled out a pen and started writing on my details. I looked at my friends and asked "How about you guys? What are you planning to do?"

"Well, I'm planning to try out in cheerleading also," Sheena said.

"Really? That's cool. At least I know someone there. How about you Jules and Andrea?"

"I'll be trying out for softball," Juliet replied.

"Me too and the track team," Andrea said.

"That's cool. Hey, how about if we also join the student body organization? It would be fun. Plus, we get to be in charge of school events and staff." I said excitedly.

"Sure. At least it would look good for our college applications." Sheena said. The rest of the girls agreed.

"Yo Jake!" Someone shouted across the room. We all look up to see who it was. I noticed that Andrea started to fidget. I looked at her and she blushed. I looked at Juliet for an explanation, she mouthed "later" and I nodded.

I saw a bunch of guys headed our way and one girl.

"Hey, what's up man?" Jake asked and they did that handshake thing.

"So, who are these pretty ladies?" the guy asked.

"You already know my sister Juliet and her friends, Andrea and Sheena. The new girl is Christina. Tyler is Chris' twin." Jake introduced.

"You also have a twin?" the girl interrupted. I nodded.

"Sorry, my name is Rebecca or Becky for short and that smooth talker in front of you is my twin, Dylan." She said. Now that I think about it, they do look the same, blond hair and green eyes.

"Hi." I smiled at her. Then looked at the other guys for an introduction. "Oh sorry. These are Rodney, Stephen, and Joey."

We all greeted each other and started talking. Becky is such a charming girl. Before we know it, we were already planning to go to the mall on the weekend.

"So Becky, what is your next class?" Sheena asked.

"Math, Biology, then PE." She answered.

"Really? You have the same schedule as us."

"Cool. When I enrolled at this school, I thought I would have trouble looking for friends. Turns out I'm wrong."

We chuckled and I told her, "Me too. So, from where are you?"

"New York. My parents got divorced. My mom is currently in New York so, I stayed with her as I was planning to graduate high school there. But, when she remarried, I do not get along with my stepdad's kids. I told my father that I wanted to transfer here in Miami and stay with him and Dylan."

"So, how did you find the transfer? New York is very different from here." Juliet asked.

"To be honest I find it awesome. I find New York to be too congested. I like the atmosphere here better. So does my dad. He is even planning to open his own restaurant. He's an executive chef back in New York. When he was promoted to head chef, he was assigned here in Miami."

"Really? That's great. Maybe we can ask for a part-time job during summer." Andrea said.

We laughed but agreed with her.

The bell rung, signaling that lunch break is over and we all headed out towards our next class.
