"You look like you're in dire need of a long soak in a bubble bath while sipping on champagne"

Jessica turned to smile at Mary with the best smile she could manage to summon in her tired state as she slung her bag over her shoulder.

"Bubble bath yes, champagne? I'm afraid a bottle of fruit juice from the corner store will have to do"

"You've been doing great here. I think you should spoil yourself this weekend."

"At least someone thinks so."

Mary sent her a sympathetic smile and she got the sudden need to bawl her eyes out and complain about her boss.

"I don't understand how you've worked with him this long without having an emotional breakdown. The man is emotionally detached and he never smiles. I can't seem to do anything right in his eyes."

"Try not to take it all personal dear."

"I'm afraid that's easier said than done." She said glancing over her shoulder to stare at his close office door. She sighed then left.

Now at home soaking in the tub, Jessica's mind was consumed with thoughts of Javier. For a minute today she thought he was going to kiss her in his office, that is until Logan intruded. Also for a minute she wanted it to happen, why? She wasn't sure yet.

What was really troubling her was the angry look on his face when she had accepted his best friend's invitation to dinner.

Why was he so angry? Am I not good enough to date his friend? I'll show him.

She climbed out of the tub and got dress for her night out with Logan. She wasn't a girl for a night on the town but that didn't mean she was without her little black dress. Every woman should own one. The dress was long sleeved with the back bared. The length? Well let's just say her brothers wouldn't approve. She took time to do her hair, something she never does and lightly applied some makeup.

Right on time Logan rang to say he was waiting outside and she slipped on her stilettos and went down to meet him.

"Well my my my. I do believe I'll be the envy of the club tonight" he said giving her an appreciative once over.

"Thank you but club? I thought we were going to dinner"

"We are. There's a restaurant above the club we'll eat there then go downstairs and dance the night away"

"Sounds good"

Despite the fact Jessica was feeling upset earlier in the evening, it turns out she was having so much fun with Logan. He was funny and surprisingly good company. He's a shameless flirt but they both knew they'd never be more than just friends.

"There's no way we can fit on that dancefloor. Its so crowded" she yelled to him over the music.

"Come one just trust me!"

Somehow when they hit it the dancefloor its like space magically appeared. The music is all nineteen nineties but they're dancing like it's jive, twisting, turning, holding hands and changing sides. They were all grins. They knew they must look like idiots but they really didn't care.

"You coming with me? I need a flaming orgasm." Logan said suddenly, causing her to panic.

Jessica watched him walking away. He didn't turn around until he was off the dancefloor. She slowly followed him trying to think of a million ways to gently turn him down.

"What's the matter with you?" He asked her

"Logan I thought we agreed to be just friends"

"We did. Wait don't tell me you're falling for my irresistible hunk of a body. I mean I know my hip movements were on point out there on the dancefloor but..."

"Oh shut up!" She gave his hand a playful punch. "Why did you ask for a orgasm though?"

She blushed to the tip of her roots when his loud obnoxious laughter wouldn't stop.

"It's the name of a drink you perv." He told her when he finally stopped laughing. "Come young one, you have much to learn"

She laughed at his teasing and followed him to the bar.

"Would you like a flaming orgasm?" He asked as they finally made it to the counter.

"Some sex on the beach will do just fine" she said remembering the drink mentioned in a book she once read.

They both started laughing at the bartender's expression.

"These drinks should come with a warning" she said still laughing.

"Like what? Sex on the beach, likely to cause pregnancy upon consumption. Flaming orgasm, likely to give you a out of body feeling?" He responded

Jessica was about to respond but a couple that entered the club caught her attention. Immediately the mood of her evening changed. Javier walked in looking his usual six foot three of masculine perfection. On his arm was a gorgeous woman, model-chic, in a figure molding silver dress that revealed a fashionable amount of superb cleavage.

"She's got nothing on you and believe me. She's not important to him" Logan said from beside her. He gave her knee a comforting squeeze.

"It doesn't matter" she replied looking down at her hands folded in her lap.

"Do you want to go?"

"If you don't mind" she sent him a grateful smile and accepted the hand he offered.

As they passed by the dancefloor she glanced over to where Javier was dancing with his date. When he caught sight of her his movements paused and she was pretty sure his eyes grew slightly wider. She looked away and followed Logan out to his car.

"This isn't the way to my apartment" she told Logan as they drove further into traffic.

"I know, but I'm taking you to the park. We can watch the fireworks. I know if I take you home you're going to find that tub of ice cream that women magically pull out of the back of their refrigerator when they hate every man alive. Then you're going to wake up upset the next day when you can't fit into your favorite pair of jeans"

She couldn't help the bubble of laughter that erupted from her.

"Why can't I fall for a guy like you? Why do I have to fall for the jerks? She grumbled

"Javier is a good guy just give him time. As for me you should be glad you didn't fall for me. I don't exactly like women like you, you know the brainy types with an opinion for everything. No, I like my women with no brains, the only word I want to hear from my women is 'yes' at the end of the night after a long day"

"You're such a pig!" She replied laughing at how brutally honest he was.

"Hey a man wants what a man wants" he said shrugging.

"You're just like my brothers!"

"Well dang, there's no coming back when you've been sibling zoned"

Their laughter filled the car and Jessica started to forget about seeing Javier in the club tonight. She would worry about all that later.
