Javier's brows wrinkled in concentration as he looking into the glass case filled with jewelry.

They were polished and cut to perfection. The brilliant pieces bounced rays of rainbow light over the dimly lit room. Javier stood there, transfixed by the enchanting jewelry pieces. He ran his finger over a necklace.  Its surface was impossible smooth. Its colors, impossibly bright. A magnificent rainbow aurora surrounded it, giving off an ethereal glow. It shimmered in the case with a radiance of its own.

Then something else catch his attention.  A ring,  green emerald to be exact. Perfect for the woman he knew he wanted by his side for the rest of his life. The woman he had hurt.

It's no excuse he know; he own my behaviour. He owns up to what he did,  the hurt he caused. He disgusted himself everytime he looked back at that day. Regret washed over him like the long slow waves on a shallow beach. Each wave was icy cold and sent shivers down his spine. How he longed to go back and take a different path, but now that was impossible. There was no way to take that day back.

He swallowed thinking about how it's been since he last held her. It was torture,  not being able to touch her,  kiss her see her cry over a sad movie. I loved the way her mind works,  she was quick on her feet,  it especially showed when she watched those detective shows she loves so much.

As much as he might not deserve her he knew he needed her in his life. Not for selfish reason,  he needed her because he knew no one would love her the way he does.  It shouldn't have taken hurting her to realize just how he would give everything up for her.  He had decided he wants to be the man she deserves,  the man that deserves her. He couldn't change the past but he was determined to make her father one that she never even imagined.

He had asked Brittany to leave that same day. She hadn't left quietly and the slap across his face had left a sting for days reminding him of her anger. He knew he had hurt her and for that he was sorry.  He just knew he couldn't be with her,  his heart wanted someone else. His body now only wanted that one.  He remembered how Brittany had snuck in his bathroom while he showered after Jessica had ran off broken with betrayal. She tried yet again to seduce him but this time his body simply didn't even get aroused.

The store clerk cleared her throat to get his attention. Javier blinked up at the woman and sent her and apologetic smile.

"If you need time to decide that's quite alright.  I can go serve another customer while you keep looking." she told him politely.

"No I've decided thank you." he said smiling at her.  "I need this ring right here. I need this necklace too please. "

The woman looked pleased with his decision.  No doubt this was probably her first sale of the day.  While she rang up his order he pulled his cellphone from pocket and checked for messages.

None.  He sighed in frustration. He didn't want to pressure her but he wished he got some sort of sign that she wanted him. He's never been so desperate in his life.

He handed over his card and collected his purchase and left the store. The day was cloudy but luckily it wasn't at all muggy.

As he drove through the midday traffic he decided a month was enough to wait.  Now is when he would stop waiting and go win back the woman he loves.

He pulled into a parking space and reached across the seat for the jewelry.  He scribbled a quick note and stuck it in the bag.

As he got to her door he knocked and waited.

"Give me second!"

He heard her call back.  She sounded a big irritated so he decided to just put the bag over the door handle and leave.  She would see it when she opened the door.

He hurried back to the elevator and just his luck he didn't have to wait.  As he walked in and hit the close button he heard a door open just as the doors slid shut.
