---------------------------------------------------

I slept like hell last night every little sound had me waking up afraid it might be the enforcers coming to finish off what the rogue had started. That was the first time I had ever met an enforcer and I hope to god it was the last time as well. I was laid out on my sofa watching re-run of my favorite shows  as I had been most of the day because it hurt like hell to walk around. I had to call off from work because I knew there was no way I could stand on my leg for that.

When there came a knock at my apartment door I tensed up afraid of who it might be. I laid very still on the couch hoping not to make any noise. The knocking came a couple more times before it became a pounding, “I know you’re in there. I can hear your TV you idiot.” Sasha’s voice calls out from behind my door. I sigh with a relief and pull myself up off the couch and limp over to my door undoing the lock and opening it.

Her bright blue eyes scanned over me, “You look fine to me but just in case…” She hold up a plastic bag and shakes it in my face, “I brought you some goodies.” She pushes past me into my apartment without an invitation. “No please come on in…” I mumble under my breath as I close the door. She has made her way into the kitchen area and is unloading the bag. “You didn’t say what was wrong when you called out so I just grabbed a little of everything. Some soup, some tylenol, some ice cream and chocolate….” She says pointing to the different items. I come over and pick up a DVD she had also pulled out of the bag, “The notebook?” I question holding up. She quickly snatches it from my hand, “You know in case it was that time of the month.”

I smile at her as I turn away and limp back over to my couch tired of standing, “As usual you’ve gone and over done yourself. All I did was sprain my ankle tripping over the curb in front of my apartments last night.” I lie. She comes over to my couch bringing the tube of ice cream with her, “Well then I guess I won’t have to share any of this with you.” She plops down next to me and opens to tub of ice cream and using a spoon she’d swipe from my kitchen she shovels some into her mouth. I just watch her with raised eyebrows. She returns my look, “What?” her mouth full of ice cream, “It’s my time of the month. Sue me.”

We spend the next couple of hours watching cheesy sci-fi movies and commentating on them. It hard to admit but Sasha has become like family to over the past couple of years that we’ve known each other. She doesn’t ask me about my life before I met her and I don’t ask her about hers. I think maybe we both understood that some things just didn’t need to be shared.

“Oh god, If I don’t pee I’m going to explode.” I say as I pull myself up off the couch my leg had begun to feel a bit better which meant the healing process had begun. I limped toward my bathroom as fast as I could go. “Hurry up grandma the commercials are going to be over soon and you don’t want to miss if Señor dreamy saves the world from the killer bees.” I flip her off as I disappear into the bathroom. While I’m finishing up my business I heard the sound of someone knocking on my door, “Can you get that?” I yell out to Sasha.

I hear the sound of deep voices over the sound of the water faucet as I rinse my hands. I quickly wipe my hands on the hanging towel and exit the bathroom, “Sasha who was at the door?” I ask as I come around the corner. I pause in my step when I see two big men standing in my kitchen talking to Sasha. One of them looks my way his eyes leveling me with a sturdy gaze. Enforcers. My brain already knows this is a bad situation and Sasha has no idea what she’s brought into my apartment.

I calmly approach not wanting to cause the situation to escalate. Sasha turns towards me with a smile, “I hope you don’t mind that I let your neighbors in. They said they got locked out of there apartment and needed to use a phone.” I look back over the two enforcers and I can smell the power radiating off of them. My wolf is pacing back and forth in her cage and I knew it was because she could sense my fear. I gave what I hoped was a good smile, “No problem. My phone is right over there…” I point toward the counter near my fridge. The Enforcer who was talking with Sasha nods his head with a smile and turns toward the phone.

I limp over toward a cabinet I have in my living room where I keep my in case of emergency weapon. A gun that shoots silver bullets, originally I bought it for myself incase I thought there was no way to control myself anymore. I would rather be dead then ever harm an innocent person. In this case though I was willing to make an exception for the uses. “What’s wrong with your leg?” I hear a deep voice ask from the kitchen. Sasha let out a snicker, “She tripped over a curbed and sprained her ankle. Elena has alway been a huge klutz. She says with a joking tone. Part of me wants to kill her right now for using my name in front of these people.

“I apologize for this…” I hear one of the enforcers say and I quickly turn around to see him hitting the pressure point on Sasha’s neck. I watch her fall forward into his waiting arms her body limp like a rag doll. The enforcer who was on the phone is looking at me as if calculating what I am going to do next. I suppose in other situations that would be necessary but as I said before I’m not like those monsters. I’m a rogue because I have no other choice. My eyes flicker to the cabinet and then back to the two enforcers in my kitchen.

“Now look we don’t want to hurt you.” He says in a calm voice that makes my muscles relax a bit. Before I realize what’s happening he’s walking towards me slowly, it’s as if he’s put me under some kind of trance. This must be the power of an alpha. It’s been so long since I’ve been under the rule of an alpha that I forgot what they were capable of. My wolf however is having none of it. She is growling louder the closer he gets to me and I know I have to break out of this for the sake of everyone.

“Don’t come any closer to me…” I say with a shaky voice. The enforcer holds up his hands in a non-threatening manner, “Elena we don’t want to hurt you…”

“Speak for yourself.” The man in the kitchen says and my eyes flicker to him. He’s still standing with Sasha in his arms, cradling her to his body in a protective way. The other enforcer looks over his shoulder, “Gideon…”  He speaks his name like a warning. Gideon falls quiet but he isn’t happy about the reprimand I can tell. The enforcer in front me turns his attention back to me, “We only want to talk to you about the attack last night.” he says in a gentle voice.

“No you want to take me somewhere so you can dispose of me…” I say my voice trembling. Gideon snorts in the kitchen as a response to my words, “Victor just grab her and let’s go. Mikhail is waiting and you know how patient he is…”  Victor looks gives me a conflicted look and then lunges at me faster then I can process. His fingers press into the soft spot on my neck. I look up at him with shock as the room begins to grow dark, “Sasha…” I mutter. He gives me an apologetic smile, “She won’t be harmed little one.” Then the world goes dark.

When I start to come to I can hear the sound of men arguing with each other. My eyes flutter open and I am staring up at a white ceiling. I look around quickly and find Sasha is still passed out on the ground next to me. She is handcuffed to a metal bar. When I try to move my arm I realize that I am also chained to the wall much like she is. Thats when I spot a man sitting in the corner of the room quietly reading a book. I eye him over and I note that he is much smaller than the other enforcers but the aura around him seems to be just as powerful.

His eyes drift up from his book and connect with mine. A cold chill spreads over me and I fill like out of all the enforcers I’ve met so far he is the most unstable. He gets up out of his chair, closing his book and setting it down where he’d been seated. Without a single word he leaves the room and let out a breath I didn’t know I had been holding. I quickly turn toward Sasha, “Hey!” I yell at her, “Wake up sleeping beauty!” I watch her stir a little, “five more minutes” She mutters. I growl and swing my leg out toward her and kick her in the butt hard. She opens her eyes then, “Ouch! What the hell?”

She glares at me but as she realizes the state I’m in the glare changes into something else.

She begins to panic yanking at the handcuff that is holding her captive. I watch her for a couple of minutes, “You’re not going to break out of that so you might as well calm down.” I say to her. She looks over her shoulder at me, “Calm down? You want me to calm down knowing we’re chained up in some sketchy place? You’re right I should just wait for the psycho’s that put us here to come back.” She turns her body a bit and pushes her feet into the wall and pulls some more.

When the door to the room opens we both turn to look and see several men pile in. Victor and Gideon I recognize and the man who had been watching over us. The other guy is a little bit older looking than the rest of them. He steps forward toward us. I shrink back away from him but Sasha lunges forward pulling at her handcuff, “If you even think about touching either one of us I’ll rip your throat out with bare teeth.” I look over to her with wide eyes. That was the first time I had ever heard her speak like that and the fact that she was doing it to an enforcer shocked me more.

The enforcers all looked to her with similar surprise as if it was the first time that anyone had ever talked to them like that. I swallowed my own fear, “Sasha…” I say in a low voice as if to try to warn it that it wasn’t the best idea to speak. She looked to me her face twisted up in an angry scowl and she looked back to them, “You better let me out of these things or you will be sorry when I get out of them myself.” She says. I realize there is nothing I can say at this point she isn’t going to listen to me. Gideon steps forward, “What are you going to do about if we don’t princess?” He seems amused.

A strange scent that I’ve never smelled before begins to tickle my nose and I can’t help but sniff it. I start looking around the room trying to figure out where it’s coming from. My wolf is also curious about the smell and it trying to get me to follow it but the only problem is I’m chained to a wall. I take in another breath, it’s getting stronger. I can’t place the smell but it is making my heart beat faster with excitement. I feel my wolf rushing towards the surface.

“Shit!” I hear a deep voice say, “She’s going rogue.” I look towards the men but my mind is completely consumed by the delicious scent. We must follow the scent. Must get free. Must follow. I am unable to push through the cloud and body pulls forward against the chain with all my force and I break free with ease. The Enforcers are quickly on their guard ready to fight me but I don’t care about them. I sniff the air and I feel like the scent is completely wrapped around me and I can’t tell where it’s coming from.

The door to the room opens and there stands the man from the alley way the other day. His steely blue eyes are trained on me like daggers. The room falls quiet and my heart sputters to a spot. It’s feels like when you’re falling in a dream and then before you can hit the ground your body jolts you awake. That was the sensation that came over me. My wolf recognizing immediately that the delicious scent was coming from him. She propelled me forward towards him but I didn’t get very far before I was tackled to the ground by a large body.

Mine! My wolf snarled in my head and that though allowed me to come back to the surface for a moment. My face laying against the cold concrete and a knee pressed in-between my shoulder blades to hold me in place. Sasha is yelling some nasty threats at them. My brain feels like it’s about to explode and my body starts to shake, “Please let go of me.” I say in the calmest voice I can.

“Not on your life you filthy dog…” Gideon speaks in a tense growl. I try to get my wolf under control but she is not having it. Shit. “I said get let go of me.” I yell as I buck my body up off the ground throwing him off balance. I throw my body into his and he hits the wall with a pretty good amount of force. I am off the ground fast and ready for someone to attack me. Gideon’s eyes flash green for a moment as anger beings to roll of him. We stand staring each other down when I notice his foot shift forward and inch I know he’s about to attack me.

“Don’t touch her!” A voice booms through the room. Everything falls completely still. I look toward the door and find the man looking at me with a very intense gaze, “What is your name?” He asks still speaking with authority, “Elena…” I response softly. He seems to weight my name in his head for a moment and nods as if finding it acceptable. He turns his attention to everyone in the room, “You four can go now.”

Gideon looks over to me with surprise, “But Mikhail she’s a rogue. We can’t just let her leave her alive to roam free.” Mikhail, that name seemed to fit him quite well. He looked to Gideon with dark eyes, “You’re right but unfortunately she is my mate…” Everyone in the room looked over to me with shocked expressions and then back to him, “Are you sure?” Victor asked. Mikhail looked to me his eyes scanning over me in a way that made me feel shy and fluster. “Yes…”

The men seem as confused as I am by the turn of events. Victor walks over to me and I inch myself back until I am pressed again the wall. He reaches out towards me and I close my eyes tight. When I feel his hand grab a hold mine gently I open my eyes. He raises it to his lips and presses a tiny kiss against my knuckles and then bows his head. I remember seeing this before when I was younger. It’s usually done to show respect to high ranking wolves, as sign of loyalty. He let go of my hand and backed away from me.

“You may release the other girl we have no use for her.” Mikhail says and turns to leave. “Wait…” Gideon speak quickly, “She’s my mate…” Once again the room is full of weird looks. Mikhail stares at Gideon with a hard look and then turns away, “Do as you like with her then but she's your responsibility…” Then he is gone.
