The more the silver effects began to wear off the more I felt my wolf stirring and she seemed angrier than ever. The boy was navigating us through the turmoil as quickly as he could without drawing attention to us. I kept myself aware of our surroundings feeling like at any moment someone could pop out and attack us. When I caught fast movement near the left of us I put my hand on his chest to stop him. He brought us to halt, “Did you see something?” He asks and I nod my head my eyes searching the darkness for anyone but all I could sense of eerie stillness. I motioned for him to put me down. He seemed hesitant to do so but obeyed my wishes. Keeping his arm wrapped around me to make sure I was steady.

The feelings that were racing through me were like I the day the vampire had attacked me in the house. I knew I needed to trust my instincts this time. I let out a low menacing growl from in my chest and the boy understood that something was wrong and I could feel the power of his wolf stirring inside of him. There a was a quick rush of air that passed near us followed by another one in front of us. I felt myself trying to turn, there might be one or there could be more than one. It was hard to tell with how fast vampires could move. All the movement cause a snarl to rip from the boys throat in a warning to whoever was trying to play games with us.

The image of him ripping the Beta’s head off came to mind and I knew that this kid was deadly and powerful. When the movements stopped we both stood together hyper aware of our surroundings. This was not a good situation to be in. I mean I wasn’t up to fighting form and while I didn’t doubt the boy’s ability to fight I didn’t think he would be much of a match against more than one vampire. I heard faint laughter and turned my head towards the sound and out of the shadows walked a pale looking woman, “You dogs are endless sources of entertainment.” She says with a smile, “Don’t you agree Maven?” She asks and I hear faint footsteps behind us and look over my shoulder to see another vampire appear out of the shadows, he looked about the same age as the boy next me.

“I think they’re much more entertaining when they’re dead and bleeding.” His eyes narrowed and he hiss viciously at us. “Will you two stop playing games with them? we don’t have time to waist. Katherine said she needs us to be there when they take the Alpha.” My ears perked up to this and I turned to the third voice and in front of us far off was another vampire. He looked much more serious and distant then the other two who had been playing with us. I leaned into the boy, “You’re going to have to let go of me.” He understands this I can tell but he looks very conflicted, “I can take care of myself. Trust me.” I say and he reluctantly lets go of me and I am steady on my feet. Still feeling achy from the silver injection.

The two of us get into fighting stances a nasty snarl ripping from the boys throat as he turned to face the girl vampire. I could feel the power shifting in him and I knew he was going to shift. He let out a howl when his wolf was fully released and then I heard the sound of snapping teeth and growling. I didn’t need to turn around to know he was fighting the vampire. I tried to keep my attention focused on my vampire and not trying to forget about there leader not standing to far off. The she had called Maven watched me with a dark expression, “Why aren’t you shifting wolf? You do realize I’ll kill you faster this way right?” I glared at him.

My wolf growled in my head insulted by his words and him calling me weak. My eyes flashed to silver, “I guess we’ll see about that wont we.” His eyes narrowed and he flash stepped toward me but unlike before this time I was able to see his movements. I don’t know what was different this time but I easily dogged his attack that had clearly been his attempt to remove my heart from my chest. He wasn’t moving quickly anymore as he spun around to look at me, cocking his head to the side as a slow smile crept over his pale lips, “Interesting…” This time he came at me faster and it was harder to track him and I barely dodged a punch to the face. He let out a laugh of excitement, “Finally—“ He says and then he starts punching at me quickly and I’m having to focus all of my energy to avoid being hit. Thats when I realize that I’m playing a completely defensive game.

When I hear a yelp I lose my focus and he lands a punch to my stomach and then one to my face and I go sprawling out in the dirt, coughing hard. I looked to see that the vampire had hurt the boys side somehow but he seemed even more intent on killing her now, like a wild animal backed into a corner.

I look up at the vampire now standing above me triumphantly and I snarl at him not caring because I’m also stuck in a corner. He begins to pace in front of my a little his eyes remaining on my like a predator and then he hunches over with his fangs barred at me and I am sure that this guy is about to go in for the kill. Seriously, this would be the second time someone tried to killed me within a short period of time.

A loud roar ripped through the sounds of fighting around us and everything seemed to become eerily calm. I turned toward the sound to see Victor standing there looking like he was about to go into a murderous rage. I felt relief at seeing and then shock over the fact that he was free somehow and then a familiar stepped out from behind him.

“Good evening everyone.” She says with a calm voice. Her blonde hair swooshing back and forth as she took a couple steps forward. The vampire near me hissed and took a step back away from me and I couldn’t help by recognize the look of fear in his eyes. I looked around and noticed that all the vampires now seemed on edge at the sudden appearance of Eris. She snapped her fingers and out of the shadows appeared the men from her club. Or her other contracts.

“You know who I am?” She asks them as she crosses her arms over her chest. The vampires barred there fangs at her and she smiled wickedly, “I’m taking that as a yes. So then you understand what I do to people who piss me off right?” Then the vampires seemed to pale further.

“Protect Elena.” She said softly to Victor but I heard it. He quickly made his way over to me and I watched him in surprise as he bent over, “Are you okay Elena? Where’s Mikhail?” He asks me with a tense expression. I try to keep back my tears and I swallow the lump in my throat, “The Alpha came and took him. They think he’s the spy.” Victor let out a nasty growl that makes me tense up but recognizing that he calms himself, “And are you okay? Are you hurt?” I shake my head, “I did get injected with silver by the Beta but the boy saved me—“ I nodded my head to the wolf who was now slowly stalking forward toward the vampire that he’d been fight with. Victor looks extremely angry over this and I smile a bit, “Don’t worry he ripped his head off, literally.” And Victor’s eyes open wide at this and then he looks toward the brown wolf before looking back to me and scooping me up into his arms.

Eris was stalking forward toward Maven, “I really don’t appreciate people messing with my friends.” She quirks and eyebrow. He hisses, “Everyone knows you don’t have friends.” She mocks that she’s hurt, “I’m hurt. That wasn’t very nice.” He looks a little nervous and then her turns to run and I know he’ll escape with his flash step but somehow Eris materializes in front him as he turn around and this startles him, “Too slow.” She says before she shoves her hand through his chest and then pulls back holding his heart in her hand, “This looks important—“ She says waving it in his face as he falls to the ground. She look at the heart for a second and then chucks it away. I can’t even process what I just watched, this woman was completely terrifying and the fact that Sasha had the guts to stab her through her heart astounds me.

I hear the sounds of screaming and I look to see the brown wolf has his teeth locked down on the vampires shoulder and he’s shaking his head back and forth. The brown wolf lets go with a yelp shaking his head back and forth the vampire must have landed some kind of hit on him. Eris watched the scene with amusement for a moment before heaving a sigh and she materializes behind the girl gripping her head in her hand and twisting hard. The girls head broke free from her body with ease. Her body dropped to the ground as Eris tossed her head away with disgust. The boy shifted back into his human from and was eyeing Eris with suspicion. She looked him over and smiled a little, “This just keeps getting more interesting by the second—“ She snaps her fingers when she looks and watches the last vampire race of, “Follow him. Don’t let him get away alive.” The Men who had been waiting in the shadows disappeared back into them.

Victor walked us over to the two of them and I stared at Eris, “What are you doing here?” I ask her my voice sound harsher then I had meant it to. She didn’t seem to care, “Because I had a sneaking suspicion something like this might happen and when my little bird didn’t report back to me I knew something was wrong.” I understood that she meant Sarafina who was also being held. I have more questions but right now is not the right time.

I felt a strange vibration run through my body something that was familiar to me but yet foreign at the same time. I frown a little as I felt another vibration and I realized it was like the pulsing of a heart. I looked and noticed that the boy was also making a strange face.

“Do you feel it too?” I ask him and he looks up at me with a little surprise and then nods his head.

“Feel what? I don’t feel anything.” Victor asks. Eris is looking back and forth between the boy and I as if trying to understand something.

“It feels like—“  I can’t put my finger on it but my wolf seems to be in a frenzy over it and the only thing that I can say is, “Mikhail.”
