Eventually Liv and Tyler make their way back to us with huge Sundae cups full of what I can only explain as a diabetes mountain. Matt and I laugh as we shake our heads at them before following them to a nearby table "I didn't realise I'd be fourth wheeling five year olds tonight" he says smiling at the two of them as they devour their sundaes "The cutest date I've ever fourth wheeled"  I say eating a chocolate "I'm impressed" he says as I placing the leftover in my napkin "At?" I ask confused "I've never see any girls eat at these things besides you and you sister" he says laughing "I don't see why not" I say shrugging my shoulders "Exactly" he says winking at me.

We talk for a little longer and I found out he went to school with Jamie but graduated last year. He said he hadn't come to Northdale Academy there wasn't enough head space for two Phillips. I laugh not being able to imagine Klowi ever having a brother. Halfway through our conversation Liv whisks Tyler away to the dance floor "She bold I like her" Matt says as we watch them twirl in the centre of the dance floor "More confidence than I'd ever have" I say smiling as I watch Liv "So you can wear a killer dress like that but not ask a guy to dance" Matt asks confused "Believe me my choice of clothing did not come without protest" I say folding my arms "Well you're the belle of the ball and everyone should know it" he says turning to me "What does that mean?" I ask "Let's get out of this hidden corner and give you the attention you and that dress deserve" he was extending his hand to me "Lead the way" I say wanting to forget about yesterday and enjoy myself for the night. I take a quick scan of the room in case there was anyone I knew around luckily for me there were only parents and teachers floating about.

Thinking out loud by Ed Sheehan's half way through as we approach the floor. He places his hand on my upper back and takes my other hand in his as we sway slowly "I'm surprised we've never run into each other at other galas or at least parties" he says furrowing his brows at me "Well I don't get out much with studying and all" I say not wanting to get into it "that and the fact we're in different year levels" I say remembering he was older "Oh right forgot you were Klowis age" he says continuing to survey the room "Yeah I-" the conversation began to run stiff when my hero comes to the rescue "I wanna dance with him now" Liv says tugging on my dress. Matt looks down at Liv before looking back up at me "May we?" He asks for my permission "Of course" I say laughing "Well in that case it would be my honour Ms Olivia" he says extending his hand to her. She places her tiny hands in his and they step side to side with match crouched down. Tyler and I do the same and I attempt to let him lead for the rest of the song which was hilarious considering he barely reached my hip.

Once the song was over everyone who didn't attend an Edendale school was asked to leave the floor for the year level showing however I pleaded with Matt to stay considering there was literally no other students in sight when suddenly the entrance doors re open to reveal an abundance of students including the 'it clique' and....Tate.

River decided he wasn't going to the gala tonight because he had 'things to sort out' which I hoped meant Elena considering she'd been a little out of it yesterday. I hated not being able to force the answers out of her considering we weren't friends like we normally were and I didn't want to come off as pushy so I decided to let it work itself out. I just hoped she knew she could come to me if she ever needed.

Since River bailed I decided to accompany my mom since I didn't want her going alone to this thing. I knew how strong she was but hated the looks she got from the other trophy wives who judged her partly for being a single parent but mostly for having an affair with Rivers father.

I straighten my bow and follow my mom out to the car. We decided to take a limo considering my dress shoes were way to stiff to be driving in and I didn't want my mom driving I wanted her to enjoy her night.

I give her the usual endearments admiring her beauty and effort she put in before hopping out of the car to open her door "Such a gentleman" she says smiling at me. I smile back closing the door behind her before following her along the white carpet "I wonder if Cecelia's going to be here" she says as we walk "I don't think this is her crowd and besides the event is invite only" I reply as I had already thought about that. However I do exclude the part where she may still be upset over something River May or may not have done. "Well I saw her over at Alexandria and you know that place is very expensive so if she's shopping there I'm sure she'll be here" she says surprising me "Are you sure she was shopping and not just browsing?" I say considering it didn't sound like Elena to be shopping around there I don't think even Kaylee and her friends can afford to be around there "Yeah she was with the cutest little button" my mom says pouting "Liv?" I ask "Yeah that was her name" she says pausing to look at me "You seem to know quiet a lot about her" she says raising a brow. I push my young against the side of my cheek unsure of what to respond "interesting" is all she says before walking past the security "See you in a bit" she says leaving me at the top of the stairs "If you see Cecelia be nice" she calls out before being drowned out by the sound of slow music, clinking champagne glasses, and fake laughter.

I roll my eyes being annoyed I had to temporarily wait in the 'student area' until the opening dance started. Normally I'd skip this and go with my mom right into the dance but as a senior I had to wait in the common room. I hated leaving her alone in places with those pretentious snobs. I knew we weren't completely separated from them but we at least knew where to draw the line. Me and mom of course I wasn't too sure about River he and his father seemed to fit right in amongst the plastics and bourgeoisie. I pick up a flute of champagne and sip as I say Hi and mingle with people.

Just because I was sociable didn't mean I liked people I just preferred to narrowly avoid the drama.  Dan from my bio class was telling me about hi polo lessons when one of the Deans announces all the seniors needed to make their way into the main hall for the year level showing. Basically it was a dance to parade what fine students the school has produced to hopefully get parent to enrol their other kids into the school and to give the parents an opportunity to brag about their kids.

I place my glass down and tuck my hands into my pocket following the other students into the hall. The chatter from the parents, board, teaches and ex students gets louder as we make our way to the dance floor. I'm surprised as I end up at the front of the heard to see there was already a girl and guy I hadn't seen before at the centre of the dance floor. Usually I'd shrug things like this off but I couldn't considering it'd be weird not to know everyone here considering these events made sure everyone knew everyone.

I attempt to get a better look but there's no point as the head of the school board approaches the stage "Thank you all for being here to night. We understand how valuable your time is and will get to the formalities soon" he says giving the most cliche politician smile there was "I hope you've all taken the evening to get to know one an other especially our new parents of our freshman students who ha-" he pauses mid sentence looking as if he had seen a ghost "I...I don't believe it" he says with wide eyes "Mr James Karmicheal everybody" he says clapping as a spotlight shines on the worlds first trillionaire  James Karmicheal. It was hard to say exactly what he did considering he had a hand in every market but he was most known for his years on wall street. I wasn't surprised by the headmasters reaction even I myself have goosebumps knowing I'm in the same room as him "Well it's an honour to have you here with us tonight and hope you've been acquainted with some of the schools alumni" the head master says nodding his head in Mr Karmicheals direction. I look at him trying to figure out what his kid could look like and if I'd seen them around school. I would've assumed he was here for investment purposes but unless he was trying to open up a school or something he'd have no reason to be wasting his time being here. "Not getting too carried away on our students of the future let's focus on our students of the past I present to you the Edendale alum class of 2020" he says as we all do our waves and smiles while everyone cheered as if we were some sort of celebrities or as if they weren't celebrities themselves "It is compulsory in all Edendale schools for our students to attend two years of compulsory dance lessons let's put them to the tests one last time" he says winking at the crowd "This is the class of 2020 performance followed by a waltz which both parents and alumni are encouraged to join" he says looking at the Dj. This was the first year the senior showing included an impromptu dance performance. I shake my head realising he was only show boating for Mr Karmicheal to show how 'sophisticated' our school was. Did the fourty thousand dollar annual fees not scream stuck up enough for him.
