"Layla and Lucas."

Excuse me?!

Why him? I looked beside and frowned.

I wasn't kidding when I said teachers put together the worst combinations.

Me and Him is the worst combination ever.

He glanced at me. "Shall we begin partner?"

I held up my hand. "Teacher can I talk to you?"

Amir is already bad enough I don't need his friend to join him making my life miserable.

"Yes Layla." The teacher came up to me.

"We don't want each other as partners. Is there any possibility that we can choose another classmate?" I asked as politely as I can. I can't afford another teacher to be my hater.

"Unfortunately Layla, I already decided. Since you are the top in the class and Lucas is new here, I thought he needs someone to guide him in our lessons and you were the perfect candidate for the job." She smiled.

I sighed and mumered a thank you before she left.

I glances at Lucas only to find him amused by the conversation I had with the teacher.

"So Layla-" he began but I cut him off.

"Can we begin?" I opened the book and my laptop. I grabbed the paper to take a look at it.

I'm thinking about dividing the questions for us to do but then I remembered that he doesn't care about his grades like I do so I decided to work with him. I refuse to do all the work by myself.

"I'll open up a page and share with you. There we can write our essay there even if we're not together but we will also need to meet up just in case something happens."

I haven't got any answer so I checked beside me. Lucas was looking at me with his stern face on his palm that was resting on the table.

I waved my hand in front of his face. "Hellooo, can you hear me? Were you even listening?" I hissed.

"Why are you always against popular kids?" He randomly asked. I was taken aback.

"You just called yourself a kid." I deadpaned.

"Answer my question."

"I just happened to stand up for myself and friends. Besides you guys think you own the world and needs some to bring you to reality."

"Am I one of them?" He asked again staring directly into my eyes, cold.

What's his point?

"I don't know. Are you?" I genuinely didn't know the answer to his question because I have nothing against him. He's always the one that didn't talk, just walked around with his two friends. Honestly if it wasn't for his good looks, he'd be a shadow no one knew existed.

********

"Guys I gotta tell you something." I began. It's about time I tell them.

Currently we're sitting in the canteen. It was our lunch time. Latifa was sitting before me with Sabrina beside her and Scarlett beside me.

I look around the canteen, making sure that no one is paying attention our conversation since it was full of gossip girls here.

"My nikah is tomorrow." I whispered.
Sabrina froze, Latifa spat out her drink at me but I was fast to dodge it while Scarlett dropped her spoon on the table.

A few seconds passed then they screamed making my heart almost stop.

"WHAT!!?"

"That fast?!" "Why tho?!" "Are you kidding?" They bombed me with questions.

"Guys chill out, yes apparently that fast, I don't know why and I'm not kidding."

"Dang girl you're about to be a housewife." Scarlett shook her head.

"And my future brother in law can't seem to take his eyes of you." Sabrina glanced at her side and z
I turned that way. I made an eye contact with Amir who was sitting down with his friend on the popular table. That table is full of people I can't stand.

Amir's head rested on his palm and he's looking at me. He's not even ashamed that I caught him.

"Somebody is love." Latifa smirked and my head whirled back to her while she cleaning up the mess she did when she spat out.

I gave a disgusted look. "Who me? No I was just thinking about what kind of house I want live in." I lied, well it's half true.

"You guys are choosing today?" Sabrina said before she took a bit of her food.

I nodded.

"And the drama starts after that." Scarlett smirked.

"What do you know Scarlett, this is the beginning of a halal drama." Latifa filled in and I rolled my eyes.

These girls...

We quickly finished our lunch and went to our separate periods.

I was walking and playing a game on my phone when I was grabbed by my elbow and dragged to an empty corridor.

"Hey!" I was about slap the person before I saw who was standing in front of me.

"Wow wow chill out lion." Amir put his hands in the air.

"Did you have to drag me? You could have just asked." I snatched my arm off of his hands.

"I wanted to annoy you, besides it's more fun this way."

"Well I think your definition of fun differs mine."

"Anyway have you chosen somewhere we can live?" He smirked.

I still can't believe I'm about live with this guy.

"Uhh no... nothing too big nor small. I was thinking maybe a penthouse? Yeah penthouse would be cool."

"A penthouse it is then." He said memorizing my face which coloured my cheeks.

"Wait. You have no say in this?" I asked, does he really need to listen to me?

"It doesn't matter to me. When are you finishing school?"

"15pm." I answered.

"Come to the parking lot when you finish, I'll be waiting for you." He turned around.

"We're going together?" I shout after him.

"Of course!" He shout back.
~
The day went in a blur and I found myself walking towards the parking lot where I found Amir leaning on his car.

I went up to him as he noticed me.
"Get in." He said, titled his head to the white car.

"What about my car?" I asked but I was already opening the passenger's door and slipped into it.

"We'll get it later." He started to engine and drove out of the parking lot.
