I wiped my tears away. After making sure I was okay and real, they suggested I should rest.

I have been crying since, taking advantage of the darkness, so no one sees me.

I don't want to add to their stress.

I know I made them so scared and worried, but I panicked at the moment. They could've shot them. They could've killed one of them.

I don't know what is better. If I hadn't done anything or now.

I choked back a sob and heard shuffling around me.
"What's bothering you, baby?" Elonzo asked sweetly as he got up from the couch and made his way towards me.

"Nothing." I said. He took a seat beside my bed.

"There is something. You've been crying a lot." He said, running his fingers through my hair.

"It's nothing. I just couldn't see you all so sad." I said. He didn't say anything after that. Just hummed in response. He knew I was lying.

He sat there, stroking my hair until I fell asleep.

-------

"Goddamnit, Evvie." Vincenzo cursed, standing up.

We somehow started an argument about what I did. I wasn't accepting that I was completely wrong while they thought I shouldn't have done what I did.

I just slept for about forty minutes then woke up and got into this argument.

"Leo was instructing his group to shoot. If you hadn't took off and made him panic, he would've shot them before." Elonzo said, glaring at me.

"I told you I panicked." I mumbled, fiddling with the blanket.

Vincenzo just glared at me, standing with his hands on his hips.

I looked at him then looked down.

These oldies are so scary. All four of them were glaring at me at the moment.

I woke up to them here and our sweet conversation somehow drifted to this topic and now I'm regretting it. Like I'm really regretting it.

"And how was jumping into the chaos a good decision?" Vincenzo gritted, tapping his foot on the floor.

"I thought it'll distract them." I mumbled, not looking at him. My voice was barely audible.

"Look at me when I'm talking to you!" He snapped.

I looked up at him. He was still having that scary look on his face.

"I thought it'll distract them." I said, louder this time. He just shook his head.

"It never crossed your mind that it will distract us? That could've created a mess bigger than it already was, if we panicked on seeing you jumping into the danger." Elonzo said. "I lost my mind when I saw you getting shot."

I just looked down.

"When we have these fights, we have it under control, Evvie. They could've lost that control on seeing you in danger." Drake said, trying hard to calm himself down.

"It's still not completely my fault. I was just scared they will shoot them, so I did what came to my mind." I said, stubbornly. I looked away.

"And you got shot and almost died." Emilio snapped.

"I don't know what it will take for you to understand it from our point of view." Drake said, glaring at me.

I just stayed silent.

"Let's just end this conversation here. We'll have this discussion later." Elonzo said, throwing a pointed look my way at the last part.

I pouted.

"Get that pout off." Drake said, having the same pointed look.

I just huffed slightly and laid down turning to my side, curling up into the blanket, so I was completely under it.

How do they expect me to just watch some men trying to kill my three father figures? How do they expect me not to do anything about it?

I'd rather die than live in the absence of any of them.

I was almost asleep and tuned out their conversation, but I remember the oldies kissing my head before leaving.

Still not going to talk to them until they agree to come to a mutual understanding. We should agree to disagree, I guess.

I got out my head out of the blanket once I heard the lights being switched off and the door closing.

'I love you too, Nerdy.'

'Scooby, tell your Mom, not to stop Dad from kissing her.'

I shook my head. Everything he's said till now was echoing in my mind continuously. Everything we've done together, every little thing is constantly revolving in my mind.

I felt a warm tear escape my eye. My hands were trembling.

I don't know if I should've done it. I don't know if it was worth it. But I couldn't bear losing anyone.

I cried myself to sleep again.

------

"Zack?" I asked, sitting up a little, supported by my elbows.

He looked at me wide eyed, a heavy contrast to what I saw in my previous dream. It was good as long as I kept seeing him.

His glossy eyes shone, even in the dim lights.

For some reason, I started begging and pleading again. I couldn't say goodbye, no matter how much I wanted to. I don't want to lose him.
"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. It's all my fault. I killed you. Please don't go away. I'm really sorry..." I started repeating, hoping he'd come back somehow.

I'm tired of these dreams hurting me again, but it feels good seeing him again.

He just kept staring, while I tried to get my breathing back in control. I had tears flowing down my cheeks, almost at the point of sobbing.

"What are you talking about?" He cut me off, finally snapping out of it.

"You got shot. You shouldn't have jumped in the way. I'm sorry I killed you." I cried out, panicking he'd leave again.

The distance between us is bothering me. I could hug Mom in my dream. He won't mind, right? I can hug him, at least.

His eyes widened as he raised his eyebrows in surprise, cutting off my apologies yet again.
"Hey Hey! Nerdy. Stop. I'm not dead. I'm right here. I'm alive." He panicked, as he suddenly got up from his chair beside the hospital bed.

I shook my head. I don't know if this is real or not.
"I'm sorry." I started my rambling again, now full on sobbing.

He rushed towards me and climbed up on the bed, laying beside me. He adjusted himself, careful of the wires. He pulled me to him, so I was no longer sitting, but laying down beside him. He settled my head on his bicep, before turning to his side and hugging me tight.

My words became muffled when he pulled me into the tight hug.

"Stop talking. Calm down, Nerdy." He muttered, pressing his lips to my temple and keeping them there for a long time.

I took a deep breath, taking in his scent. He feels real. I moved my hands to touch him. I basked in his warmth, while moving my hands to touch his face.

He seemed to melt into the touch as I choked out a sob.

"I don't want to wake up." I muttered, still spilling tears. It's all messed up.

"You are awake, Nerdy." He said, softly. His voice was almost a whisper.

I shook my head and hid my face in his chest, wrapping my arms around him.

I don't know what to believe.

"I'm alive, Nerdy. I'm right here and you're awake. This is not a dream." He said, kissing my head repeatedly. "I'm not gonna leave without meeting my kids who are as bratty as you."

That made me giggle.

Being bratty is better than being an ugly Gorilla with anger issues.

"I missed these giggles." He said, his voice cracking. "I thought I lost you."

"But you got shot. I thought you died. I saw this dream and you were standing with Mom telling me to go with Nathan." I stopped, when he looked at me with confusion. I don't have enough energy to explain the dream.

"I got shot." He confirmed, nodding his head. "In the shoulder, nearly missing my ribs. Then I passed out, because I was weak already and then sudden blood loss and more pain. Physical and emotional." He bit his lip.

"That's what the doctors told me, at least. That I saw you getting shot and got overwhelmed emotionally. Which is also one of the many reasons they gave, for you going into coma." He said.

"Coma?" I asked, confused. I don't think staying unconscious for a short while is called Coma.

"No one told you about it?" He asked. I shook my head.

"We were too busy crying and arguing with each other for what I did." I said.

"You just woke up after two weeks." He said. "You got shot two times, nearly missing your heart. Then you went into a Coma. Doctors said, it had many reasons. Some of them being blood loss, head injury that you got after hitting your head and the emotional and mental stress on seeing me pass out. You wouldn't have made it if the third bullet had hit you." He explained, his eyes filling with tears at the end.

"That was horrible." I said, burying my head in his chest again. "It was so painful believing you're dead."

I looked up at him.
"Are you sure this isn't a dream?" I asked, almost on the verge of crying again.

"I'm sure, Nerdy." He pecked my lips. That small kiss made me cry again, so I did just that. I just cried silently while he stroked my hair and I listened to his heartbeat, which was indeed there.

I fell asleep soon, listening to the calm heartbeat and the satisfying breathing.

I woke up to arguing. I lifted my head a little and saw a nurse on Zack's side.

"You can't get on the bed, sir. It's risky for the patient." She said, politely. Zack moved a little, making me clutch him tighter.

"No..." I whined, pulling him to me. He laughed quietly.

"Wait! You can see him? He's real, right?" I asked, in shock and disbelief. She looked at me weirdly and nodded.

"Can you get off the bed, please?" She asked, politely.

Zack shrugged.
"My girlfriend doesn't want me to."

"But..." The nurse was cut off.

"Let them be." Someone said, in their 'I'm almost the Capo' voice.

Elonzo walked in as the nurse bowed her head and walked out.
"Good morning, Baby." He smiled, kissing my head. I smiled back, before almost squealing.

"Anna!" I exclaimed, opening my arms for a hug.

"I missed you so much." She said, hugging me.

"Thanks for taking care of him." I said, knowing she was the reason he didn't look as miserable as I thought.

"Don't thank me. You guys are family." She muttered. "Although your brother almost killed me when I was trying to calm him down."

"He's grounded for that." I said. Jackie and Romeo entered the room a second later and hugged me, before talking about things.

My siblings-in-law took care of my whole family and I'm grateful for that.

I thought I was out for a day or two, but now that I know it was two weeks, they were better than I expected.

I was still not letting Zack get up. When I was done hugging my siblings-in-law, I laid back again, cuddling into him.

That really was a horrible experience. I don't ever want to lose him.

They left soon, leaving me and Zack alone again.

"I love you, Princess. Don't ever leave me. That really was horrible." I muttered, tightening my hold on him.

"I love you too, Nerdy. Don't try to do stupid things. That really was stupid." He said, jokingly.

I can't believe I have him back. I mean I didn't actually lose him but what I went through was kinda close. I don't want him to be away from me.

Elonzo said, Dad got so enraged that he killed Salvatore on the spot. Right there. He shot him in between his eyes, while Grandpa aimed for his non-existent heart. They didn't even stop to think that torture would be the better punishment for him.

From what I know, Salvatore was planning to kill Leonardo too after 'marrying' me. He wanted all the power to himself and no one in the way. Now the Mafia in Italy is in our hands and Leonardo is just the ex-Capo. Grandpa is set on changing how it works there.

At least it all ended well. I'm ready to ignore everything we went through, as long as I get a happy ending.

"Can I kiss you?" Zack asked, quietly. I turned to him and nodded.

As soon as I nodded, he shifted down a little, so we were face to face and pressed his lips to mine, almost making me swoon.

The thought that I believed I would never even see him again, hurt a lot.

How I wanted this, more than anything. Just him close to me.

'This is a happy ending.'

--------
This is the actual last chapter of this book. And no, you're not selfish for asking for a triple update, because I kinda owe it to you for doing that. But it just made it more fun, right?
No? Okay. Don't come at me.

Forget 'that cruel'. I'm not cruel at all. Maybe a little bit. Hehe. Sorry.
But Hey! Both of them are alive.
I love happy endings. I couldn't bear killing anyone in my books except the witches and pigs.
乂❤‿❤乂

Also, expect bonus chapters and Epilogues. But not now. I haven't written anything. It'll take some time.

This was an amazing journey. Both of these books got a lot of love. I'm too attached to these characters, ngl.
I hope you like my future works too.
