I picked my head up from the plushie when the door slammed open.

Ugh. What now?

"You better have an explanation ready, for what you did or I'm going to break you into tiny pieces." Zack said, as he barged in, looking too angry.

Truck! Why the hell do they tell this angry gorilla everything!?

He stomped inside stopping at the foot of my bed and standing there with his arms crossed.

"I-I was sad." I admitted shamefully, looking down, fiddling with the turtle plushie.

"That's it?" He asked, clenching his jaw.

"I still am." I said, trying to calm him down, by having some pity.

No such luck with him. If he was the normal sweet boyfriend then maybe. But he's half annoying 'I love you, bruh.' and half sweet 'you're so cute' type boyfriend. So he doesn't fall for the puppy eyes when he's angry.

"Then you talk about it. We all are sad for the kids. How many times do we have to tell you? You TALK about it." He said, gritting the last part, emphasising every word. "You've been told thousands of times. But no. You have to go on and activate the dumb side of your brain."

"I just didn't feel like eating." I mumbled, fiddling with the ring on my finger now. "The kids aren't eating."

"The kids aren't eating on their own. Jay is feeding them forcefully so they don't fall ill like you did. So you want to tell me that you want to be fed like the kids, because you can't happen to eat on your own?" He asked. My head shot up as my eyes widened

That's not what I meant.

"No." I snapped.

"Yes. That's exactly what you proved by your decisions and there are more than enough people who are happy to do that. As long as you keep your 'stupid decision factory' closed."

Is he referring to my brain here?

I pouted.
"You're being mean." I whined.

"Oh? And what about the call I received that informed me that a certain girl who happens to be my girlfriend is starving herself because she's sad. In fact, you are mean for doing that to yourself." He said, making me slump down more.

His angry facade didn't fade one bit. He had his arms crossed, his eyebrow raised, a glare on his face, but still worry and sadness in his eyes.

So yeah. It was hot.

But scary enough for me to not stare at him and drool.

Not to mention the vein popping from his temple, due to the anger.
See? Pet peeve.

'Don't play with your health or put your life in danger or I will kill you.'
Add a scary voice.

"I'm sorry." I mumbled, almost inside the blanket as I was slumping down.

Stupid decisions and I are best friends.

The door slammed open again, when I was completely inside the blanket.

I held back a groan when I heard his voice.

"Oh! She's asleep." Max said. "I kinda came in all angry and upset, with the lecture prepared."

"She's awake, you idiot. Stop exposing yourself." Nathan said. I could imagine him shaking his head.

"Oh." Max said. It was silent for a while.

"Evelina Romano, you try to pull a stunt like that again and see what I do." Max said, in his scary voice. I tried to hold back my laughter but couldn't, so I started laughing, while still under the blanket.

"Idiot." Nathan muttered again.

"Not my fault. I thought she was asleep so I dropped the angry act." He said, before I felt the blanket being snatched from me.

Max pulled me up into a sitting position and wrapped his arms around me.

"You need to get rid of that habit." He said, hugging me tight, almost breaking me in half. "I was so worried."

I just nodded, melting into the hug. I know he has to put efforts to get angry. He's pretty cool, after all. It's not often that he gets angry. But I've been on the receiving end of his anger too many times, always due to my recklessness as he calls it. He's faced my anger too, but not as much as I have faced his.

We pulled away, just as Will entered the room, with a plate and a glass of juice.

The food looked delicious, but still made me nauseous. I'm not ready to eat that much yet.

"Here. Finish everything. I'll be back after cleaning up a bit." Will said, kissing my head after setting the plate before me.

I pouted, looking at the food.

I looked to my side to look at Nathan, to give him my puppy eyes.
But as soon as I did, my heart stopped.

Zack was now sitting where Nathan was and Nathan had moved to sit on my desk chair.

"No." I whined, making grabby hands for Nathan. "I want my twin. Take this angry gorilla away."

Max chuckled, sitting on the edge of my bed.
"Start eating, Evvie. That's the only thing you can do."

Just then, I felt Zack move to grab the plate.

"I can do it myself." I said, slapping his hand away. I picked up the spoon and held it tight in my hand.

"No you can't." Zack retorted, snatching the spoon and grabbing the plate.

I sealed my mouth shut. No way in hell is he winning this.

"Nerdy." A warning.

"No." I gritted, putting my hands before my mouth and glaring at him. "I will do it myself."

We glared at each other for a long time. None of us backing away.

"Okay then. But the moment you stop eating and say you're full, I will do the task." He said, putting the plate and spoon before me again.

I sighed in relief and started eating while they talked about things. Zack was still looking at me from time to time with that pointed look, to which I smiled sweetly.

Just a hundred more sweet smiles and his angry exterior will crack. Nah, I'd need more than hundred.

About three bites later, I was full. I didn't want to eat more. I forced a fourth bite, trying to focus on the conversation and distract myself from my thoughts.

I continued to force it till the plate was half empty. After that, I just pushed the food around the plate.

Zack grabbed my hand and took the spoon. He sighed before pushing the spoon forward.

I pouted.
"I'm full."

"You're not." He said, softly. Something I didn't expect. I mean, he looks too mad to be talking so gently.

"How do you know, pighead?" I scowled, crossing my arms.

Yes, I'm dumb. He's being unexpectedly gentle, so talk back to make him mad.

"Because Will is a doctor and he told you to finish this. He knows what he's doing and just how much you need." Max answered this time.

"What if I throw up?" I asked, narrowing my eyes at him.

"You won't." Zack said. He raised his hand to tap my temple twice with his index finger. "That's something you're forcing yourself to believe. Shut down your stupid decision factory for a while."

I huffed. That was mean. I refused to look at him, but opened my mouth when he asked. Quite reluctantly, may I add.

The food was almost finished. I'm really full now. I'm not kidding.

Zack was currently looking at Max and Nathan as they talked, so I moved my face away from the spoon and looked away, pretending not to notice.

Someone cleared their throat. I ignored that someone, because they're scary.

When it was silent for a while, I turned my head a little, to see him from the corner of my eyes.

Zack was looking at me, the spoon still held where it was. I really expected a warning. Something along the lines of 'eat it before I break your neck and kill you.'
"Just half of what is left?" He asked.

"Deal." I said, happy that he compromised.

I made sure the food was divided in equal halves, before he began feeding me again. I kept an eye on the plate, because I don't trust this pighead with this.

"Good job." He said, ruffling my hair, when I was done eating and drinking the juice. I glared at him, while setting my hair.

"No one asked." I retorted, shoving him.

"You wanna go to sleep?" Nathan asked. I shook my head.

"I just woke up like an hour ago." I said, looking at him ridiculously.

"But you're still weak." He shrugged. "What do you wanna do?"

"Can you all dance?" I asked, leaning back against the headboard.

"Wow." Max muttered, shaking his head.

"We can't." Nathan said, chuckling.

"Zack can." Max said, laughing when Zack looked at him wide-eyed.

"No, I can't." He said, defensively. I chuckled, making him huff a little.

Will came back in.
"Can you go explain everything to the others?" He asked, looking at Nathan.

The older twins were out before I woke up. Luciano didn't come home last night. Ew.

Will just called Dad when I passed out. Not cool.

"Okay." Nathan said, heading out.

Will eyes the plate and smiled, seeing I ate most of it. Zack smirked victoriously.

I'm going to force him to eat someday. Then he'll know. Trucker.

Will was now standing near the bed.
"Okay, honey. You have to take these meds, so you can get better faster." He said, before touching my forehead with the back of his hand. "Slight fever."

I watched as he got some pills out and put a whatever syrup bottle on the nightstand. Two pills actually.

"Here." He said, trying to give me the pills. I hesitated.

"Why do I have to take these? I can just get better by eating again, right?" I asked, trying to get out of this.

"You have to take them, Evvie." He smiled, encouraging me to take the pills.

I was about to refuse but looked to my side, feeling the warning glare on me.

Why do I love this angry mosquito?

I took the pills. That glare is scary and he knows it probably.

Then he moved to pick up the syrup bottle. Syrups are bitter, I don't want it.

"Can we skip that?" I asked, pointing at the bottle.

"No." Will said, simply.

"It's bitter." I turned my head away, not ready to have it.

"Come on, Will. You're just giving her more chances to argue." Zack said, taking it from Will's hand. I felt his other hand on my jaw as he squished my cheeks and turned my head towards him. He managed to put that syrup in my mouth forcefully, while I tried to punch him.

I swallowed it quickly to curse at this pighead.

"Zack pighead Smith, you do that again and see what I do." I yelled, which he completely ignored. I could see the smirk beneath his emotionless look.

"That's a baby you're dealing with." Zack said, looking at Will, before sitting down again.

"Be happy I'm not in mood for murder." I said, shoving him, making him fall back in his chair.

Max shook his head.
"Are you sure you guys are a couple?" He asked.

"Yes we are. He's the worse one though." I said, pointing towards Zack.

"And she's the irresponsible one." He said, pointing towards me.

"You really are good for each other. You know. You both have anger issues and are scared of each other at times." Max laughed. I just glared at him.

Ew. That syrup tasted bad.

I reached for the glass of water, but Zack was quick to grab it for me and put it to my mouth.

"I can use my hands, trucker." I said, rolling my eyes.

"But you can't use your brain, baby." He mocked, having that 'I'm not leaving this topic for a long time' look on his face.

"Stop rubbing it in my face, pighead." I said. I huffed when he just shrugged.

Then the other three came in, again with the 'how dare you?' speech as I'd like to call it.

I mean, okay. I admit it was dumb, but I'm tired of everyone scolding me for it.

And I still have to face my eldest brother and Dad when they get back. Dad would be calm. But Elonzo would be like 'be in the corner in my office within two minutes' as soon as he walks in.

Ugh.

So, I've decided that I will publish 'wannabe me' on kindle in two parts because just forty chapters (half of the story) have about 64k words. It'll be too long if I post it all in one part. Too long for an average fiction novel.
😬
I'm not going to delete it from here. So don't worry. I really want to publish there, now that I thought about it.
