Chapter 62

**

"Finally you're getting discharged!" Ashton exclaimed happily.

"And what's got you so excited about it?" I asked, as I threw my clothes in the bag.

"You'll stop whining now," he replied with a shrug.

I paused and turned towards him, placing a hand on my hips as I narrowed my eyes at him. "What?"

Ashton chuckled nervously. "I mean, your constant complain about the food will stop and the nurses can finally breathe?" I raised an eyebrow at him. "That's not what I meant."

"Sure." I said, sarcastically and turned towards my bag.

Suddenly, I felt a pair of arms circle around my stomach, carefully not to touch my wound. "Is someone angry?" He cooed near my ears, blowing some air along with his words. A smile took over my face, but I bit my lips to stop the smile to grow. I put on an 'I don't care look' and continued putting clothes in my bag, not bothering to answer him.

Ignoring him wasn't the best thing since not even a second later; I felt my back against the wall of my room. I looked up to Ashton who was really close to my face. His breath faming my lips as he placed both his hands on either side of my face and his body was gently pressed against me.

"I don't like when you ignore me." He stated. I raised an eyebrow and titled my head to right side, smirking, but not answering. "I swear to God, Gwen.." I still kept quiet just staring at him in a challenging way. He leaned so close that our lips almost touched. "Still nothing?" He whispered. "Well then."

My eyebrows furrowed in confusion, but I didn't get a chance to react as his lips crashed on mine, hard. One of his hands fisted my hair and pulled my head back to give him a better angle and his other hand wrapped around my waist pulling me close. My hands automatically wrapped around the back of his head.

The kiss was anything, but gentle. All his emotion was pouring out in this kiss. Anger, scared, frustration, happiness and all that he has been feeling. This was not like any other kiss, but neither are any. Every time we kissed, it was magical, a new experience. This was one more kiss to add in the magical world. It felt like fairy tale, but we all know a fairy tale has to come to an end.

"Really!?" A voice shouted.

Both Ashton and I jumped apart at the voice. Breathing heavily, I turned towards the voice to see Will standing near the door with an annoyed look on his face. Suddenly, I started laughing. I don't know why, but I just laughed.

"Yeah, yeah. Laugh it up. When I break both of you, you won't be laughing then." He muttered in an irritated voice.

"You and I both know that you love Ashton more than me." I sassed. Two disgusted noise was heard from the room which made me laugh again.

"Ready to go?"

"Yeah." I nodded as Ashton took the bag from the bed. We all walked out of the room towards the parking lot.

The doctor had checked me before discharging from the hospital. Strict instructions were given to me to let them know if I feel any type of pain anywhere. After reassuring that I will, I was finally allowed to go. Ashton and Will were taking me home, while the others plan on giving me a welcome back party. It was actually suppose to be a surprise, but Ryan opened his mouth and all the surprise burbed out.

Speaking of Ryan, he promised to never do anything like this again and was mending his relation with Amy. Lucky for him, she is a sweetheart and forgave him. So I already knew about the party, but I still have to act surprise to not spoil it for them. But I'm Gwen, I don't go by rules. Or maybe I do!

"Are we there?" I asked, again.

"Gwen, relax will you. You already know the way home. Stop asking me questions." Will complained, again. I grumbled under my breath and slumped in my seat. Ashton, who was seated beside Will, laughed at my expression which earned him a smack at the back of his head. He glared at me, while I smiled sweetly at him. Serves him right for laughing at me. Idiot.

Soon, I saw the gate to my beautiful home open. Staying at hospital is never fun. You become homesick after looking at the same nurse again and again. To top that, there weren't any cute male nurses either. I mean, there was this one who was really cute and even had dimples, but Ashton being Ashton didn't like him and not so kindly asked him to leave and brought me a female nurse.

"We're here!" Ashton cheered from the passenger seat before getting out of the car. I followed after him after I heard Will mutter 'finally' under his breath.

I rolled my eyes and ran inside. As soon as I opened the door, everyone jumped out from their hiding place and yelled 'surprise' with an excited grin on their face.

"I knew!" I yelled back, grinning like an idiot.

Everyone paused and stared at me expectantly while Ryan was backing off slowly towards the dining area so that he could run off from the back way.

"How did you know?" Blake asked, his words accusing to everyone in this room.

I smirked and pointed at Ryan who was almost halfway through crossing the passage that connects living room and dining area. "He blurted out few things."

Max was the first to react as he ran behind Ryan who yelled bloody murderer and ran out of the house. The surprise still was that everyone I knew was present here. My friends, my family, all my cousins, even Eric was here.

"Come on. Even though you already knew, we can still celebrate it. You came home after a long time." Mom ushered me in.

"Music!" Lucas yelled and pulled everyone on the make shift dance floor. Ashton pulled me with him as we all danced and had fun. Mary-Ann had prepared food which was neatly kept on the table near the stairs. This wasn't a typical high school party with alcohol and other gross stuffs. This was a party with Coke and soft drinks. No grinding body against each other, but everyone jumping and laughing. Not filled with sexual tension or STD's, but filled with joy, happiness. This was a party everyone should have atleast once with their family and friends.

While dancing, I saw Tyler sitting with Ashley on the stairs. From the looks it seems like Ashley was trying to cheer Tyler while he look gloomy and not in a mood. I haven't had a talk with him since I woke up and I think now will be the proper time to talk.

I walked towards them and Ashley was the first to notice me. "I'll be back." She said and left.

I sat down next to Tyler and turned towards him. He didn't look up, nor did he give any reaction. Then I did what I thought was right. I slapped him hard across his face.

The look on his face was so hard not to laugh at. The pure look of shock as he stared at me with wide eyes. His hand against the red mark on his face.

"D-Did you just slap me?" He asked in shock.

"Yes. Yes, I did." I said, nodding.

"Are you freaking crazy?" He yelled.

"No!" I said, shaking my head.

"Why'd you freaking hit me then?" He asked in disbelief.

"Well, someone had to knock some sense in you. Since Ashley can't do that and me being your best friend, I had to do it." I shrugged.

"Gwen. I think you've gone crazy." He said, shaking his head.

"When was I not?" I snorted. We sat in silence, before I sighed. "I'm sorry."

"Sorry? For what?" Tyler asked in confusion.

"Because of me, your fath-" he cut me off shaking his head.

"You're crazy, if you think I'm sad about that."

"Well, I am crazy. We established that a few seconds ago."

"Yeah. That we did, but that's not the point." He said. "The point is that we almost lost you because of him. It just hurts that I couldn't do anything. That he was my father. Money and greed lead him to an evil path that he could kill someone."

"Tyler, that wasn't your fault. What your father did is on him. You're not even one percent like him. Don't blame yourself for what someone else did. No one is mad at you. And see, I'm all fine now. I have you, I have everyone. Everything is going fine. I want you to be fine too. I don't want to see you sad. Come on. Let the past be past. We'll write our new future from henceforth." I explained, smiling.

"I guess." He muttered.

"Now come on, gloomy face. We have a party to attend." I said, pulling him up with me. Ashley soon was beside Tyler and I was off searching for Dad, who I haven't seen since I entered.

I looked at the first floor, his room, my room, the third floor, but he wasn't anywhere. The only place I didn't look for was my floor, the fourth floor. I walked up the stairs and found the door open. Walking up to the room that said 'rag', I opened it to find Dad staring at the complete picture of us sibling. I had completed it before all this drama began. I never knew what could happen and I wanted this to be the last thing I remember.

"This is so beautiful." He whispered, softly.

I stood next to him, staring at the painting. "I know."

We didn't say anything for a while. Dad went around the room examing all the pictures, the book shelf filled with books of my brothers and few of Dad's achievements.

"I never pictured it to be this amazing, you know." He said, picking a photo of us from the shelf. "I always thought that when you asked for this floor, it will be filled with all girly stuffs that teen girls now a days want to have."

I chuckled. "You forgot I'm one of a kind. Not like those girly girls."

He chuckled too. "I can never forget that. You growing up with your brothers, I knew you would never be that girly girl even with your Mom there." He kept the picture back and sat down next to me. "I'm sorry for the way I behaved at the hospital. But I'm not sorry for yelling at you. You have to know that this all stuff is meant to be handled by adults and not yourself who is still 16."

I opened my mouth to interrupt, but he shook his head. "No Gwen. Yes, the adults couldn't do anything about it, but it's not your job to do it either. You're my responsibility. You're my daughter. And no father wants to see what I saw– happen to their daughter, Gwen. You have to promise me to never do things that could put your life in danger."

I bit my lips, nodding. He was right. What I did was reckless and it hurt a lot of people in this process. I wanted him to pay, but I could have always done it the other way. Involving adults could have been a better and safe way, but at that time I did what I felt right. But we all learn from our mistakes. I did too.

"I promise, Dad. Never again."

You guys probably hate me. I know, I do too. So much stuffs have been happening with me lately that I don't know what to do. Wattpad is my safe place and I was so lost that I couldn't do anything about it either. But now I'm trying to come back to normal, like my normal routine. But I can't promise anything. Exams are coming up, but I'll try updating.

One Chapter left and than this book is over. There won't be an epilogue. But I will start a new book. I have a story line in my mind, let's see how it turns out. So stay tuned for the new book and the last chapter of Head Girl.
