Chapter 37

**

Ashton

Hell.

That was the only thing I was feeling right now.

It was hell when I heard Gwen tell me that she likes me and what I did in return was to kiss Stacey. It was a stupid move on my part, I admit.

At first I was blank and confused, but then I liked it. I felt it. I knew I liked Gwen, but was just afraid to accept it. But now I know I like her and messed it up. When I finally tried telling her, she blew me off. She just didn't believe me. I wouldn't expect any less.

Now, that asshole is back. I don't know anything about him, but I know he isn't good. At least from the reaction I got from Ryan. Not to forget the shock that was there on Gwen's face when she first saw him. The relation they have is something I don't know about. There was something deeper than what I can see or think. And when I finally had a talk with Ryan, it all cleared.

"Ryan?" I called as I stood behind him.

Ryan turned around. He all but glared at me. "Leave me alone, Roy."

"Ryan would you listen to me once, man?" I tried talking to him.

"Why would I? After what you did to Gwen." Ryan sneered.

"I know I messed it up, but I need your help."

"I'm not going to help an asshole like you!" Ryan walked away.

I pulled him back. "I like her, okay. I was confuse about my feelings and I ended up kissing Stacey to get rid of the feeling. But then I heard her confess and then I realised what a dick I was. I can't lose something this beautiful. I don't want to lose her. Help me, man."

Ryan just stared at me. He walked up to me and punched me in face. "You don't expect me to believe this bullshit, right?"

I winced at the pain. It was going to form an ugly bruise. And from the pain, it will be a nasty one. "I'm not lying. And you are the only one who can help me."

"I'm not going to fucking help you. You're going to end up hurting her again. And now that Tyler is back. I'm not risking anything." Ryan shook his head.

"Who the hell is Tyler anyways?" I asked, trying to keep my jealousy in control.

"Jealous, are we?" Ryan asked, smirking. Guess I can't keep the jealousy out of my tone.

"Don't fucking kid with me, Ryan. I'm serious here. What's the deal with Tyler?" I asked, scoffing.

Ryan's expression hardens. "Tyler was her childhood best friend. They were inseparable. But stuffs happened. And that has done some serious damage. And if I help you and you end up hurting her. I don't know what will happen."

It was pretty hard to convince Ryan, but after some serious internal and external damage threats, he finally agreed. I came to know about this Tyler guy. I don't know anything in detail, but I don't like him. I hate his guts. And after I saw the look on his face in lunch break, I feel like punching him in face, but I didn't think Gwen would appreciate it.

I knew I had to act on my feelings. So I did. The next day at lunch break, I dared and kissed her cheeks. The expression on her face was priceless. But I was satisfied. And now I'll do anything to woo her.

I like her more than I could have thought.

Suddenly my phone buzzed. I chucked my phone out to see, there was a message from an unknown number.

Unknown:

Take care of your little girlfriend. Wouldn't want anything happening to her, would we?

Dread filled my body. No, this can't be happening. I came here for a new start.

Me: Who the hell are you?

Unknown: Forgot me so soon, son?

Mother. Damn, her! That bitch can't stay away from me, can she?

Me: My little girlfriend?

Unknown:

Gwen Wilson. Daughter of the famous business man, Richard Wilson.

Me: Stay the fuck away from her.

Unknown:

You made a mistake by leaving this place. And now you'll pay. See you soon.

Shit!

This can't be happening now. Not when all of this is already going on. Dad and Barbara were mad at me when they came to know that Gwen and I broke up. If I tell them this, it'll stress them out. Since that bitch won't leave Barbara alone for marrying my Dad aka her ex-husband. But you can't blame Dad. My mother was a psycho bitch.

This was one of the reasons we shifted here. Earlier we used to live in Paris, but since the psycho issue happened, we had to shift. What she wanted from me was something I wasn't ready to give her. And now she is behind me.

And fuck I can't do anything. I'll have to keep Gwen safe. That's something I can do.

**

"Morning." I greeted as I took a seat next to Ashley for breakfast.

A few mutters were heard around the room. I rolled my eyes. Of course, they are still mad at my break up with Gwen.

Once the breakfast was done, I was off to Lucas's house. The guys and I decided that it would be better if we go to Lucas to play since the rest of the Wilson family won't be thrilled with me being there.

My phone buzzed again. At once, I thought it was from the unknown number again, but when I saw it was only Ryan, I checked the message.

Ryan: You left for Lucas's house yet?

Me: No. Why?

Ryan: You gotta pick me up.

Me: Be right there.

I slipped my phone in my back pocket and pulled the car keys out. Walking towards my car I thought maybe I'll see Gwen there. Might as well try to win her over.

I reached the Wilson's house in no time. Switching the engine off, I grabbed my shaded from the dash board and stepped out waiting for Ryan.

Surfing through my phone, I waited, when suddenly I heard a beautiful laugh. I looked up from my phone to see Gwen running out of the house. I smiled when I saw the grin on her face. I took a step towards her, but stopped short when I see the person emerging out of the house. My smiled turned into a scoff and my eyes into a glare.

Tyler was running behind Gwen laughing with her. Damn! I don't like this kid at all. I saw Gwen bounce down the stairs when she looked up and saw me. She stopped short which lead Tyler to run into her, momentarily making her lose her balance. But before she could fall, he caught her by her waist. I glared at the hand which was wrapped around her. If only looks could kill...

"Ashton?" Gwen said in confusion.

"What?" I asked, my tone unintentionally harsh.

She blinked and shifted uncomfortably, suddenly aware of my cold voice and harsh voice.

"What are you doing here?"

"Why? I can't even come here now?" I scoffed.

"What is the matter with you?" She asked in irritation.

"Nothing. Where is Ryan anyway?" I asked, changing the subject.

"I don't know." She answered and before I could reply, she twirled around and walked away with Tyler who was looking at me, confuse.

I just glared at him which made him turn and jog the rest of the way towards Gwen, asking her something. My guess is- who is he? The only thing that would matter is Gwen's answer. What are we? Are we acquaintance, because I don't know if she considers me as her friend anymore after the stunt I pulled, not that I blame her.

I sighed in defeat. Shaking my head, I looked up to see Ryan making his way towards me. He raised an eyebrow, silently asking about my current change of mood.

"Tyler." Was the only thing I said.

He snorted. "Of course. Tyler and Gwen have been inseparable. You would have a problem."

"What the deal with him? Is her boyfriend now or what? Why is he always with her?" I asked, trying to control my unwanted jealousy.

"Well, he was her best friend before everything happened. And no, he isn't her boyfriend. The guys and I won't allow. After the breakup and her crying stuffs related and non-related to you and also her lost bracelet that Tyler had given her that has her and Tyler's initial on it, she's been sad and Tyler's been helping her." Ryan explained and answered all my question.

The one that stuck me was the bracelet. I know where the bracelet is. Well, because it is with me. It fell from her wrist the day she came after our night out. Thinking about it, I remember the initials. One of G and the other was T. Of course it was Tyler. Damn! I should have figured it out already.

We pulled at Lucas's house. It was a huge, three storey house. It wasn't that big, but from the way Lucas brags, I think it totally fits him fine.

The sound of door slamming shut successful removed me from my daydream as I saw Ryan waiting outside for me. Quickly, I got out of the car, locking the door behind me as we both made our way towards Lucas, who was standing at the front door waiting for us.

"Thought I heard the sound, and came to welcome you to my lovely home." Lucas grinned.

"It's not like we came here for the first time." Ryan said, shaking his head.

"Whatever man. You should feel honoured that I am escorting you in." Lucas shrugged.

"Like we need any escorting." Ryan muttered. I chuckled, while Lucas rolled his eyes.

"Yes, your majesty. You surely do need escorting. We can't leave our prince and his butler on his own, can we?" Lucas smirked.

"Who are you calling butler?" I scoffed, narrowing my eyes at him.

"Me, of course." Lucas smoothened.

"You're an idiot." Ryan said, hitting the back of his head.

"Don't hit me!" Lucas exclaimed.

I rolled my eyes and walk inside towards the voice I heard from the game room. Ryan and Lucas following me as they bicker with one other.

"Hey, guys." I called as I took a can of coke that was kept on the table. A chorus of hey was muttered around the room. A movie, which I don't know the name of, was on.

Sean and Becca were curled together and Amy sat alone with one space open on her right, assuming for Ryan. That guy is head over heels for this girl, but doesn't have the guts to speak up.

"Shut up, both of you." Noah grumbled.

Ryan and Lucas both shut up and took their respective seats. Well, Ryan next to Amy that is.

"So what are we going to do since the girls invited themselves?" Lucas asked, relaxing in his seat.

"Excuse me?" Becca questioned.

"What? Did I say something wrong?" Lucas asked, innocently.

"Yes. We did not invite ourselves. It was decided by everyone to come here." Amy huffed.

"Yeah, yeah." Lucas dismissed them.

"So," Lucas began, but this time his attention on me. "You and Gwen, huh?"

I raised an eyebrow and took a sip from my can. "Yeah."

"You kissed her." He stated.

"Your point?" I asked, annoyed.

"You know that girl is really pretty," Lucas said. I clenched my fist. "I've been trying to hit on her for so long, yet she didn't give me one minute of her time. But with you....It's something."

"Yeah, because I'm not an asshole like you are." I practically growled.

He smirked. "You wouldn't mind if I took a chance, would you?"

The next thing I know, I punched him in the face. A crack echoed around the room. Everyone fell silent, only Lucas's curse could be heard.

"What the hell is wrong with you? I was just kidding. You made clear in school yesterday, you dumb ass." Lucas yelled.

"Well, then don't joke about it," I spat. I didn't wait his reply and walked out of the house towards my car. Damn! I punched him, but he deserved it.

I drove away from Lucas's house to the cafe nearby. As soon as I parked my car, my phone rang. I picked up to see Ryan calling.

"Hello?" I called as I locked the door and walked towards the cafe.

"Hey, man. Where are you?" He asked.

"I drove to the cafe near Lucas's house." I said and pushed opened the door of the cafe.

"Wait, there. Noah, Amy and I are coming." He said and hung up.

I rolled my eyes and slipped my phone back in the pocket. I strolled towards the counter and asked for a lattè. I waited, tapping my shoes continuously.

"Will you stop? It's annoying." A voice called behind me.

I turned around and raised an eyebrow. "And what are you doing here?"

"It's a public cafe. I think anyone can come here. Don't you think?" She said, rolling her eyes.

"Did you give your order?"

"Yup." She nodded. My name was called as I took my latte and waited with her. "You can go if you want. I have company."

Even though, I knew. I didn't want to go. "Who?"

She jerked her head towards the booth. "Tyler is waiting."

"And here I thought chivalry still exists." I said, sarcastically.

"I told him to wait while I go and get our order." Gwen muttered.

"Yeah. And why is that?" I crooked my eyebrows.

She blushed. Wait, she blushed. "J-Just because."

I smirked. "Now, now. Tell me the real reason, baby doll."

She rolled her eyes when I said baby doll, but a faint smile was there. She covered up when she saw me looking at her.

"I just wanted to. No other reason." She shrugged.

"So, you didn't come because you saw me here?" I asked. Her cheeks flamed red again. Checkmate.

"No!" She blurted. Her name was called. Gwen hastily picked both of the drinks and fast walked towards Tyler.

She came with Tyler. But she'll go with me.
