Chapter 16

**

I woke up and found myself in the arms of Blake. Remembering the events of last night, I sighed. Today is the last day of preparation and so much is left to do. The thought of it made me groan and bury my face in the pillow.

"What's got your panties in twist?" I heard Blake chuckle.

I shot my head up and smacked his chest. "Shut up." I threw my head back and groaned. Blake chuckled and shoved me down the bed. "Blake, what the hell?"

"Rise and shine. You have school," Blake said, amused.

"I don't want to go," I grumbled.

"You have to. Oh, I thought you weren't talking to me." He smirked.

I glared at him and sat up. "Fine. You don't want me to talk, then I won't. And I thought we were past that after yesterday." I got up and began making my way towards my room.

"Sorry, sis." Blake said apologetically, running after me.

"It's fine." I reassured him, but pouted again. "But I'm still not forgiving you."

"What do you want me, wait not only me, but us to do?" He asked, hopefully.

"Surprise me," I smirked.

He narrowed his eyes at me. Studying me for a few minutes, he slowly nodded his head. "Done."

"Okay, then. Since, we are done here. I have school to go. I'll see you later," I said and walked out. I walked a little back inside and smiled. "Good morning."

I paddled to my room, only to meet Ashton on the way. He was standing there, talking on his phone. I don't think he noticed me because after he hung up, he turned around and was surprise to see me. The surprise face turned into a smug one. I raised an eyebrow at him. What has gotten into him? He was looking at me, up and down. I followed his gaze and found that I was only wearing one of Will's t-shirts. I remember removing my jeans to get comfortable last night. Not in any pervert way.

My face turned bright red as Ashton's gaze was now on my legs. I could feel my face heat up, again. I was confident and all, but I never had a boyfriend. Having protective brothers and a protective best friend, I mean ex-best friend, I never had a chance to. I had my first kiss to some guy in 9th grade, but that was it.

"Like what you see?" I said, trying to be confident.

"Actually," he began and took a step closer, smirking. "I do like what I see."

Okay... That was not what I expected. I though he'll deny. Well, damn.

"Um..yeah. Whatever." I dismissed. I began walking to my room, but was stopped yet again. "Now what, Ashton?"

"We have to talk about what happened yesterday," he stated.

"You care because?" I asked.

"I don't." He said. "It's simply because we were suppose to talk about our assignment."

"Oh well. Sorry about that. We still have time. Can we start this assignment discussion from Monday?" I asked. I have to take care of few things before I begin my work with Ashton. I already know that working with him is going to be handful. I have this party and fresher's arrangements too. I don't think I can handle too many work at the same time.

"Why do I have a feeling that you are just trying to avoid being my partner?" He asked and cocked his head to a side.

"It's nothing like that," I began. I don't want him to feel that way. "It's just that I have to take care of this fresher's party. I want to make it as perfect as I can. I've got some arrangements yet to make and it has to be done today. So I'll come to school, but I won't be there in class. I don't have time."

"Oh. And here I thought you didn't want to be my partner," he said, smirking at me.

"Actually. I don't want to. You annoy the hell out of me."

"Well, baby doll. I too don't want to be your partner, but I really love to annoy you," he said as he leaned against the wall and smirked.

"Jerk." I muttered.

He laughed and shook his head. He stood straight and began walking backwards. I hope he falls. "Later Wilson."

"Later Carter." I said, purposely using his last name, instead of Roy which he usually prefers. I see him rolling his eyes and went to wherever he came from. Since I slept before him, I don't know where Ryan made his friends stay. Usually it's the guest room from across our hall, but if he changed his mind, then I don't know. That guy changes his mind more than a girl changing her clothes.

I went to my room for a long hot bath, since today is going be a long day, I'll start as fresh as I can. I have to call Chris and ask him about the banner. But before that I'll have to call Amber.

"Hey," I said as she picked her phone.

"What's up?"

"I can't come to your house today. Apparently, Will and Nate know about everything."

"How?" She asked, shocked.

"I couldn't keep it from Will and Nate eavesdropped on our conversation," I sighed.

"Well....it's good in a way." She reasoned.

"I guess." There was a silence. "I'll meet you at school, yeah?"

"Yeah." She confirmed. I hung up and went to take my bath.

After taking my bath and getting ready, I wore my boots and went downstairs. Ryan and his friends were leaving by the time I was down.

"Bye, Gwen. See you at school," Amy said.

"Bye." I called.

I saw Noah, one of Ryan's friends, pulling Amy out by her waist, continuously repeating about getting late and their teacher kicking their ass for being late. I laughed when I saw a pissed off look on Amy's face, grumbling under her breath. What didn't go unnoticed was Ryan's glare on Noah's hand that was on Amy's waist. I made a mental note to talk to Ryan.

I went to the dining room to see that the others were eating and reading newspaper– typical Dad.

"Morning," I said and took my seat. I received a variety of replies in return.

"So Gwen," Dad began and kept his newspaper down. "I got an interesting call from Amber."

"I'm not talking to you," I said, ignoring his previous comment.

"What?! Why?" He exclaimed.

"Because you were ignoring me before and now it's my turn to not talk to you."

"Baby girl, I'm sorry for ignoring you. We all are. We just care about you a lot. Also, I heard Blake trying to make it up to you. We all will be a part of it," he said and gave me a puppy dog look. I turned and glared at Blake, who shrugged innocently.

"Stop pouting Dad. You're one of the best businessmen. You have to be tough." Ethan snickered.

"Says the man who is wrapped around Gwen's little finger," Nate smirked. Ethan's jaws slack opened, while Nate and Dad did a High-five.

"You all can make it up to her, you know?" Mom suggested. "That includes you too, Will."

I looked at Will who was smiling sheepishly at me. I rolled my eyes and sighed. "Fine, make it up to me and we'll see. As for now, I have to go to school. Since tomorrow is fresher's. I have work to do."

"Come on. I'm coming with you." Max said. "Oh, by the way," Max cut me off, stopping me. "I'm driving." With that he took the car keys and began walking.

Meanwhile, I called Chris to ask him about the banner. According to him, the banner is made and everything is going perfectly fine and I need not worry. We made it to school in no time. I grabbed my bag, said bye and went to my locker.

While going to my locker, I saw Ashton making out with a girl. This time it wasn't Stacy. Once a player, always a player. Since, his locker was opposite mine down the corner, I could see the way they were jumping on each other. I shuddered in disgust.

I don't think I'll have time to go to class so I dumped all my books in the locker and took some important binders and I walked to the hall, where the party is held. Our school is classified as best, as we have different events that keep everyone active. Like after the party, there are football matches.

I walked passed Ashton and his girl of the week, who were still in their face sucking event. I wonder why none of them died out of breath.

Walking into the hall, I saw Amber coming my way. "Here, list of people who are not invited to the party as you said before because of their behaviour. Second," she slipped the second file in my arms. "This is the rest of the information about tomorrow's party. Food, music and such. As for banner, done. The only thing left is the decoration of the hall which is half done, half left."

"Why is half left? According to the planner we made, it should've been done by now." I asked as I go through the file.

"Yeah, well, laziness." She said and rolled her eyes, pointing at Alex, who might I add is behaving like second Ashton.

I sighed. "Nothing is ever going to happen with that boy."

"Tell me about it," Amber muttered.

"Okay. So let's leave him to do whatever he's doing. You guys go. I know you came early and all. I'll see from here." I looked up and smiled at her.

"Alone?" She asked.

"Alone."

She looked at me for a minute and bounced up, turning on her heels and stalking towards Chris who was currently eating. "Finally. I feel like celebrating."

"I heard that," I shouted behind her. She turned around and poked her tongue out. Turning to Chris, she pecked his lips and waved me bye before leaving. Now everyone was gone to class and I was left alone. So I thought of doing some work myself.

I pulled my phone out and played music while setting up the decoration. I don't know how much time passed, but currently I was dancing and singing up the stool, when I heard a voice.

"Careful there or you might fall," a smug voice said.

That was it. I shrieked as I lost my balance and fell backwards. I closed my eyes to wait for the impact, but it never came. I slowly opened my eyes only to stare at an amazing green forest colour eyes.

"Well aren't you just comfortable?" Ashton smirked. "I like the position."

It was then I realised that he had caught my fall. His arms were around my waist, as he was holding me against his chest, his face close to mine.

I stood up straight and glared at him. "I could've fallen. I pretty much did."

"But here you are, right? Standing perfectly fine," he asked, smirking. I so badly want to wipe that smirk off his face.

"What are you doing here? Aren't you suppose to be in class?" I asked, placing a hand on my hips, going into the head girl stand.

"Does it look like I'll sincerely attend all my classes?" He asked, rolling his eyes.

"Look, it's my duty and so I'm telling you to go to class. Or else there will be severe punishment." I threatened him.

"Does it look like I care?"

"Ashton, go to the class. Now!" I shouted, losing my patience already. I can't just let a student out.

"Relax, will you? I'm not going and since you're alone here. I might just help you?" He asked.

I sighed. I can't do anymore arguing with him today. "Fine. You can help me. Just go to detention tomorrow."

"Detention?" He asked, confused.

"You're a fool if you think I'll just let you go without a detention. I'll give your name for that slip and if you don't go, I'll be left to take a decision I don't want to. So being nice that I am, I'm just giving you a detention. So suck it up," I said and turned to go back to my stool.

"Fine. Fine, Miss Head Girl." He mocked. I just flipped him off.

"You see that crystal ball there?" I asked, pointing at the ball. "Put that in the middle. Grab a stool from there, since you have height, there won't be a problem," I said and went to my own chair.

"Because you can't reach?" He smirked, while going to take the stool.

"Ha ha ha. Funny, Mr. Carter." I said, sarcastically.

"Only for you, Miss Wilson." He winked at me. I rolled my eyes and turned around, a small smile playing on my lips.

"Done." Ashton said after a few minutes.

I looked up from my work to see him already looking at me. I looked up at his work and smiled in satisfaction. "Good. Now take that and put it there," I said pointed at the banner. "I'll help you with that. Just give me a minute."

"This so much work," Ashton complained.

"You did nearly nothing."

"That's enough of work for me." He shrugged.

I rolled my eyes. "Come on. I'm done here." I went to the banner and took hold of it from one side.

"Urgh, fine." He grumbled and came to the other end.

"Chop chop, work Ashton work," I grinned.

"Yeah yeah." He said, but smiled a bit.

"Aww, is that a smile, I see?" I teased him.

Instantly, his smiled vanished and a forced scoff took its place. I could tell that he forced it and he wanted to smile, but of course, being an asshole he is, he won't show. But his eyes show everything. Since it's sparkling in humour, I know he isn't angry.

"You're a bitch, Gwen." He smiled.

"You're a jerk, Ashton," I grinned.

Maybe being friends with Ashton won't be that bad?
