Chapter 46: Please don't hurt him.

"I'm stuffed." I say, wiping my lips with a napkin to remove the grease off of my lips.

"And then you say I'm trying to fatten you up." Tristan rolls his eyes, before pushing away his left over plate of fries.

"Who said you should take me out?" I arch my eyebrow.

"We're all forced to take out the trash at some point." He shrugs.

Ouch. I'm actually offended.

"I have a gun at home, so unless you don't want to wake up tomorrow morning, keep on opening your mouth." I threaten him with narrowed eyes.

"You know, most girls would've spilled a milkshake on me," he lets out a nervous chuckle.

"Why mix good food with trash?"

"Touché."

"I still have the gun though."

"I don't doubt that."

"Good."

"Are you gonna eat those fries?" I ask Tristan, gesturing to the abandoned fries crying out to me.

"Nope." He shakes his head. "Want them?" He chuckles.

"No." I huff out, not even convincing him. "Maybe."

"On one condition." He playful grin pops out on his face.

"Does everything really need to come with conditions? I mean, if you love conditions so much, then just carry your conditioner with you." I say.

"Wow. How original." He deadpans. "But I'm serious."

"Fine." I heave out a sigh. "What is it?"

"What really happened to your brother?"

"B-But you already know." I answer nervously.

"I want your side of the story." He pleads.

"If you tell me what happened to your sister."

He hesitates for a bit, but nonetheless answers. "Deal."

"But you do remember that you promised to take the twins out for a movie tonight, right?" I question him with an arched eyebrow.

"Yep." He nods. "Although I wish I didn't." He mutters under his breath.

"Then we better get going then." I say, standing up from my seat and taking the last fry from Tristan's plate.

...................

"Emily! Evan!"

"Could you stop with the yelling?" I close my ears.

"Could you stop complaining?" He ruffles my hair and I swat his hand away.

"Tristy!" Two adorable little people come running down the long staircase, not even with the slightest worry of tripping. They wrap their arms around Tristan's legs because of their height and Tristan bends down to pick up both of them.

"Hello my two favourite rascals!" Tristan asks them playfully.

"Movie! It's time for the movie!" Yells Evan's cute voice.

"What movie?" Tristan feigns confusion.

"Tristan," I smack the back of head. "Take them to the car while I grab a jacket." I say seeing as how they already look ready to leave.

Tristan winces in pain and mutters some incoherent words, but nonetheless follows my instruction.

I hurriedly run up the stairs, making sure not to trip, and I find my way to my room. I look through my window and notice that the sunset has already begun, and hues of blues, purple, pinks and oranges decorate the sky, making way for the glittering diamonds to take their rightful places. I quickly grab a black jacket from my closet and leave my vast room. My feet continue to carry me quickly through the passages, but a figure suddenly appears in my way and I slightly tumble at the contact.

"Oops! Sorry Lizzy." I apologise shyly for not seeing her. I scan her outfit and see that she's a casual pair of white jeans and an oversized sweater, indicating that she has been at home for a while now.

"Oh its okay dear. It was also my mistake." Her kind smile already warms me up and I can't help but wonder how she manages to keep herself beautiful until now.

"Where were you running of to?" Her voice cuts through my thoughts.

"Tristan and I are taking the kids out for a movie."

"Spoken like true wife." A wide grin spreads across her lips.

"W-What?" I choke out.

"Ugh, I'm not dumb. Jared told me that he saw you guys making out." The grin on her lips doesn't falter.

"U-uhm..." I struggle to rake my brain for at least a few words, but nothing seems to come out.

"Uh huh. I understand exactly what you're saying." She teases. "And I also approve." She winks at me.

"Thanks?" That sounds more like a question.

"Welcome dear. Have fun." She smiles and I smile back and send her quick bye, before walking down the stairs.

"Uhm Hailey?" Her voices causes my footsteps to halt.

"Yes Lizzy?"

"Please don't hurt him." Sadness pulls down the corners of her perfectly glossed lips.

"I won't." I assure her.

"Good. Now scurry along before your boyfriend comes dragging you out of here."

"He's not my--"

"Go. He's waiting!" She playfully cuts my off, and I obey her command with a smile.

Finally reaching the car, I open the passenger seat and throw myself onto the leather seat and toss my jacket to the backseat of the car, carefully avoiding throwing it on one of the twins.

"Is your closet a passage to Narnia?" Those are Tristan's first words to me.

"No. Why?"

"Just asking, 'cause I feel like you got lost on your way to finding your jacket."

"Yeah, well, your taking a billion years to start your engine." I retort.

"Wow." He rolls his eyes and starts the roaring engine. "I'm taking my time. Right." Sarcasm never escapes his words.

"So!" I say excitedly to the twins in the backseat. "Are we gonna watch the Incredibles 2?" I ask them and the grins on their adorable faces widen.

"Yes!" They chirp. I hope one day I also get such adorable kids.

"Did you check what time does the movie start?" I ask Tristan, who switches his gaze to me.

"Yep." He nods. "Starts in thirty minutes."

"Is that enough time to still buy popcorn?" I grin.

"Yep. If we make it there in time."

"Then drive faster."
