Chapter 34: Achievement unlocked!

Do you remember that as a child, there were those times where you used to fall asleep on the couch and magically wake up on the bed? Right now, for me, these one of those times. I remember falling asleep while watching a movie with Tristan after our tension-releasing conversation. But now I'm now I'm in the comfort of bed, warmly sandwiched between the soft matress and the thick cover of linen. Winter has began and more warmth is required.

The thought of forgiving Tristan has lifted a heavy weight from my shoulders. I'm finally able to breathe, I can finally feel the oxygen travel through my arteries. Forgiveness really does liberate you from hurt. It gives you freedom, you're able to run without a chain holding you back.

"Hailey, breakfast will be ready in ten minutes," Lizzy says at the other side of the door.

"Coming," I respond.

I tear the cover off of my body, the cold air already snakes around my frame, and I walk to the bathroom. Did I mention that the bathroom is attached to my room? No? Okay, but now you know.

The warm water pours over me, soothing my cold skin. I take five minutes in the cubicle and I step out, wrapping a towel around body. I put my wet hair into a messy bun and I walk to my room.

"Hailey, breakfast's re--" Tristan walks in without knocking and his words fade when he notices that I'm only covered with towel.

"Tristan! There's something called knocking, you know?" I shout at him, stomping my foot in the process. Very mature.

"But then I won't be seeing lovely suprises like this." He winks at me.

"Get. Out." I command and point my outstretched arm and finger towards the door behind him.

"Okay, feisty pants." He holds up his hands in defense. "Breakfast's ready by the way," he says before leaving my bedroom.

I roll my eyes.

What a pervert.

I slip into faded blue jeans and a white Nike hoodie, finishing off the look with my vans. I leave my hair in a messy bun and apply lip gloss before grabbing my bag and leaving my room.

The smell of bacon and toast fills the air. A soft hum is heard from the kitchen, drawing me closer to the source of food.

"Why not just wear the towel?" Tristan asks after I enter the kitchen. I stare in awe at the food placed on the counter. Bacon, eggs, toast, pancakes, waffles and nutella. Christmas came early.

"Pervert." I roll my eyes. "Where's Lizzy?" I ask.

"Took the twins to school." He places dough in a frying pan and the oil cackles as it licks it. I reach for a piece of the already made pancakes, but a hand slaps mine before I could reach the heavenly treat.

"Get your filthy paws off of my pancakes!" Tristan jokes.

"Wow," I mutter sarcastically. "I'm hungry." I whine like a three year old.

"Then make your own," he says.

"But you have a feast."

"Exactly, a feast for a king." Tristan takes a plate of waffles and places it on the table.

"A king of what, losers?" I retort.

"Are always savage?" A tedious expression dances on his face.

"Not my fault your mean." I state. By now Tristan has placed all the dishes on the breakfast table and sits down at the head of the table. I take a seat next to him and I grab a fork.

"Who said you can have my food?" Tristan asks playfully.

"Me." I dig into the deliciously made pancakes with chocolate syrup draped all over them. The flavour dances on my tongue, creating all sorts of tingles to run through my body. I let out a soft moan.

"Enjoying yourself?" Tristan asks sarcastically, and I nod fervently.

"Do you have ice cream?" I ask with food still in my mouth.

"In the fridge." Tristans replies and bites a strip of bacon.

I stand up and make my way to the fridge. I open the cold box and search for one of man's best friends. There it is!

Nutella ice cream.

I hurry back but find nothing on my plate. Tristan has on a smug smirk. Oh no he didn't. Not wanting to give him what he wanted, I sit down and grab the last waffle remaining which is seated on his plate.

"Dude!" He shouts. "That's not--"

I cut him off by pretending to cough onto the waffle and he scrunches his nose in disgust.

"Nevermind." He says.

Achievement unlocked!

.......................................

"You have two hours to complete your exam. You may begin." Mr Thompson says.

We're in math class and we're about to write an exam, since the winter holidays are around the corner. We have two hours to complete the paper or punishment as I would call it. To be honest, I didn't study. I know what I'm supposed to do so I found no need to study something that I've been practicing for two weeks. Trigonometry isn't that hard if you put your mind to it. Maybe it's easy for me because I was born with the talent of passing my grades with A's.

I flow through the paper with ease. My pen dances on the paper, turning its ink into words. After about an hour and thirty minutes, I place my pen down, proud of my answers. Seeing as how I have thirty minutes, I keep myself busy by doodling abstract shapes on my answer sheet. I look over to where Tristan's sitting and I see he fell asleep. He probably doesn't care about his marks. Maybe his trying to keep up with his bad boy self.

The bell rings, signalling the end of the past dreadful hours. The class wastes no time in standing up and handing their papers. I also rise from seat and trudge to to the teacher, handing him my neatly written paper. I walk out the classroom and I head in the direction of my locker. I feel arms rap around me and a head rest on my shoulder. I look to my side and I see Kaitlyn giggle.

"Hi Kate," I greet her.

"Hi Hailey." She releases me from her arms.

"Why are you so happy today?" I ask her. She's smiling, glowing actually.

"Chase." That's all she says.

"I'm guessing the play was awesome?" I ask. I wasn't really in the mood to go to the play yesterday. I'm even suprised that Tristan didn't go to support his friend either.

"Nope. That was horrible. You're lucky you didn't come. Chase sucked."

I chuckle at her words and bluntness. I didn't expect that to be so boring.

"Then why are so bubbly?" I ask her after cooling down.

"We kinda..." she trails off.

"Kinda what?" I prod her to continue.

"Kinda...did it?" Her words sounded more like a question.

"You slept together?" I ask in shock.

"Yep." Her cheeks are flustered.

"Oh my gosh, seriously?!"

She nods.

"Look at you," I coo. "You actually love him do you?"

"I really do." She admits.

"I can tell." I give her a genuine smile.
