Chapter 27: I could kiss you right now

"What do you want to watch now?" I ask him. The movie credits are already visible on the screen.

Jordan was making funny comments throughout the whole movie and I couldn't control my laughter.

"I don't know, maybe we could just talk?" He shrugs.

"Okay. Let's play twenty questions. You first." I switch off the TV and turn to him.

"Favourite colour?"

"Blue." I say.

"Why blue?" He quirks his eyebrow.

"I don't know. I just love it." I shrug and he gives a slight nod.

"How many siblings do you have?"

"Fortunately none," he smiles.

"Unique answer but okay," I chuckle.

"First kiss?" He smirks.

"Never had one." I shrug.

"Why?"

"Well, I want my first kiss to be with someone special, someone I like, or maybe even love."

Someone who's Tristan.

"Do you like me?" He asks out of the blue.

"Of course. You're a great friend."

A frown appears on his face, but I can't decipher whether it's about my response or not.

As if on cue, the door bell rings and I stand up from my position on the couch and I walk to the door. I swing the door open and a very hot looking Tristan stares right back at me.

"What are you doing here?" I ask him. For some reason I just want to wrap my arms around him and apologise for how I overreacted yesterday. But I'm too mad at him.

"Can I at least come in?" He scratches the back of his neck. Not really having the energy to argue, I step aside to allow him in. He steps in and I close the door and lead him to the sitting room.

"Jordan?" He asks.

"Hey bro. Finished with your periods?" He chuckles, but something about his laughter doesn't contain any humour.

"What are you doing here?" Tristan asks through clenched teeth.

"I came to hang out with Hailey since my bros were too busy to hang out with me." He replies.

"Let's watch a movie. I'll make more popcorn. Tristan, help me." I narrow my eyes at Tristan in threatening manner.

We both reach the kitchen and I immediately speak up. "What the hell are you doing here? Do you really think you can just show up here unannounced after what happened yesterday?"

"Well, excuse me if I wanted to do something good and come to apologise!" He yells, but not loud enough for Jordan to hear.

"Apologise? Well you can start off by telling me exactly why you reacted that way in the first place." I fold my arms and lean my back on the kitchen island.

Tristan doesn't say anything but steps closer and closer towards me. He finally reaches where I am and says, "I can't."

"Why not? Remember, I'm also involved in this freaking mess, so I deserve to know what's going on." I stare right into his eyes, not daring to look away.

"Because I've been trying so damn hard to forget that memory!" He slams his palms against the counter, each hand beside me. I am caged between his arms.

"Every night, I couldn't sleep," his voice falters, it sounds weak with every word. He looks down on the floor beneath us, avoiding eye contact.

"Hey, look at me," I pull his chin up with my hand so that his eyes look into mine.

"It's okay, I forgive you." I say truthfully. Seeing him broken immediately removes the grudge I have against him. I hate seeing someone hurt. Broken like him. He smiles and leans his forehead on mine.

"I could kiss you right now," he says, and that catches me by suprise. Before my cheeks could turn red, I say, "Goodluck with that Romeo," and I pat him on the shoulder, and push him back so that I can move away from our position.

"I don't need luck," he says before I leave the kitchen.

"Don't forget to make the popcorn," I say, trying to mask the faint blush threatening to appear.

I walk back to the sitting room where Jordan has been sitting all along and I plomp myself right next to him.

"Everything all right?" Jordan asks, paging through the TV channels.

"Yep." I reply. "Let's watch a comedy. I feel like laughing."

"I have a way of making you laugh," he smirks.

"What do you--" before I could finish my question, Jordan jumps on top of me and begins tickling my waist.

"Jordan...stop..." I say in between laughter. I can't stop laughing.

I don't know how, but all I know is that we ended up on the floor, with Jordan straddling my stomach and profusely tickling me.

"Ahem," someone clears their throat. I know that voice well enough to know it's Tristan's, and also, we are the only three people in my house.

"Am I interrupting something?" He asks, staring at our position on the floor.

"Nope, just in time to watch a movie." I say and push Jordan off of me.

"Actually I have somewhere to go. Here's you're popcorn," he puts the bowl of popcorn on the coffee table and walks out of the door.

He's definitely still on his periods.
