Chapter 20: I enjoyed that

The hooting of Tristan's Mustang sends me flying down the stairs but I'm stopped in my tracks by my father.

"Leaving without a goodbye?" He raises his eyebrow and a smirk plays at his lips.

"Bye Daddy!" I give him a bear hug and he returns it with more effort than I put in, causing my pelvis to let out a cracking sound. I miss my dad so much.

I know he's right in front of me, but I hardly see him.

Tristan hoots the car impatiently again and I pull out from the warm embrace.

"Gotta go Pops!" I fly to the door. I'm really excited. Today is the first day that I'll be riding Tristan's baby and I can't wait to rev that engine.

"Bye Pumpkin. Great your your boyfriend for me!"

"He's not my boyfriend!" I say before shutting the door behind me. Ahead of me, awaits, Tristan's Mustang, waiting to be ridden by a true master.

That's me.

Tristan isn't moving from the drivers seat and I frown.

"Move Tristan," I whine and pout my lips.

"Why?"

Without saying anything, I walk up to the drivers side and open the door. I throw my bag in the backseat and plomp myself down on Tristan's lap.

Awkward I know. I can't control the inevitable shivers that race through my body. Tristan's body in contact with mine makes my mind stop functioning. I concentrate on the touch but quickly shake off the thoughts. "Move," I shout at him. "A deal is a deal."

Tristan shakes his head at my immaturity and grabs me by the waist, his fingers brushing against my bare skin under my shirt that moved up at the movement.

His fingers are warm and I wish they could stay there and continue to rub circles along--

Ugh, I hate the effect he has on me.

"I enjoy this too," his breath fans my ear and I can help but melt at the close distance between us. He hoists me up without effort and sets me down next to the car. He also gets up from his seat and walks over to the passenger side.

Is it bad that I miss his body heat?

"So are you going to get in or not?" A smirk plays at his lips. His words pull me out of my reverie of thoughts and a blush spreads rapidly across my cheeks as I notice that he knows the effect he has on me.

I quickly slide into the driver's seat and close the door. I insert the key into the ignition, twist it  and the car immediately roars to life. It's roaring engine is like music to my ears and I relax into the sound as I rev it.

"Be careful with my baby," Tristan speaks over the load engine.

"I thought I was your only baby," I pout playfully and I swear I notice his cheeks go red. Awww, I made Tristan blush.

"You look cute when you blush," I laugh. How does it feel like now?

"I don't blush," he rolls his eyes.

"Lies."

"Would you go already? We're gonna be late. We only have five minutes to get to school." He changes the topic but I let it slide.

"Fine. We'll be there in a minute," I roll my eyes and I pull into the road. The car glides on the road with ease and all I feel is pure bliss. It feels awesome to be in control.

"You'll never make it in a minute," he scoffs.

If only you knew.

"We'll see about that." I smirk.

I increase the speed and the car zooms along the road. I avoid every car that's in my way and I move past them with ease. There's on coming traffic but I continue increasing the speed.

"Brave child." Tristan says, not baffled by my driving. I notice the slight hint of amusement that's dancing on his face but tries to hide it with his usual smirk.

The cars hoot at me but I don't even car. Adrenaline is rushing through my body and I savor the moment. The traffic light turns orange, indicating that I should slow down. But what did I do?

Speed up.

I love speed. Sue me.

"You're not gonna make it." I smirk at Tristan before turning roughly at the corner. I pull the hand brake and the car drifts at the turn. I release the brake and continue racing down the road.

"Not gonna lie, I'm impressed. Fifty three seconds," he says I pull up into the parking lot of the school and he gives a genuine smile. Not his usual, cocky smirk. A genuine smile.

"Thanks." I smile back. That was exhilarating!

We both exit the car after I parked it and people give us weird stares. I can already feel the gossip that's about to travel around the school.

Don't care.

We push open the hallway doors and eyes begin following us. Girl's eyes are filled with envy.

"I enjoyed that," Tristan's lips graze my neck and I struggle to breathe. He winks at me before walking away and disappearing into the crowd.

He has to stop doing that!

I reach my locker after recovering from deep thoughts.

"Spill." Peyton says when she sees me, with Kaitlyn at her side.

"What are you talking about?" I try playing dumb.

"You aint fooling anyone boo," Kaitlyn shakes her head.

"Fine." I explain to them everything from the moment Tristan slept over at my house, leaving out the fact that we shared the same bed of course, to the part were we made a deal that I can drive his car for a month.

"You like him." Those are Peyton's first words.

"No, I don't." I shake my head.

"Yes you do," Kaitlyn agrees with Peyton.

"Guys, I don't." I retrieve my subjects' books and close my locker.

"Okay, then you must admit that Jordan is way hot," Kaitlyn says.

"Not as hot as Tristan," I say without thinking.

Then it all hits me...

I do like Tristan Wilder.

"Bingo." Peyton smirks.

......

"Can I come over tonight?" Peyton asks her boyfriend.

"Yeah sure," Luke replies, before crashing his lips against Peyton's. I want to gag. Watching people play tonsil hockey isn't a pleasant scene.

"Ever heard about PDA?" Kate rolls her eyes but the two lovebirds continue with their make out session.

Lunch just started after five long periods. Everyone has no energy for today. I think it's because we all miss Cathy. Yes, I Skype her often but it's just not the same.

"Is this seat taken?" Jordan asks me gesturing to seat next to me, as his body hovers over mine.

"Nope." I answer.

"Thanks."

Tristan and Chase take their seats next to Jordan. Tristan's jawline is tightly pressed with tension and has a cold hard stare aimed at Jordan.

"What's up with you?" I ask him. His gaze never leaves Jordan and by each second, he becomes angrier.

Someone's on their periods.

"So who's going to go watch Chasey boy here at the concert?" Jordan asks.

I forgot about the concert. It's in a week's time. Chase told me a few days ago that they finally found a girl to play Juliet but he never told me who.

"Ooh I am," Peyton chirps in, breaking her kiss with Luke and leaving a pouting sad Luke. I can tell that she's a sucker for romance.

"So who's the Juliet?" I enquire.

"Don't ask. She's more clingy than a starfish that's stuck to your face." Chase's comment causes a loud laughter to travel around the table. I laugh so hard that I lean my head on Jordan's shoulder when I remember Jordan saying how she might be clingy thinking that fate has brought them together.

All of a sudden, Tristan abruptly stands up and exits the cafeteria. The laughter dies down and everyone shares confused looks.

That's odd.
