It had been five days since I had kicked Logan out of my room and I hadn't heard from him since.

Though it's not entirely his fault, I personally haven't made a move to text or call him.

"Mason!" I yelled at the top of my lungs. Seconds later he came rushing into my room.

"What is it? Are you okay?" He was panting trying to catch his breath and I nodded.

I turned back to my closet and let out a huff, "I don't know what to wear. Something cute? Or something sexy?"

Rolling his eyes he walked over to my side and starred into my closet, "Well nothing sexy, that's for sure. How about this? It's cute."

He pulled out a cream colored knit sweater, and a black skirt. I took it from his hands and threw it on my bed, "Okay. Thank you. That's all, you can leave now."

I checked my clock real quick to see how much time I had left until people started arriving for Thanksgiving dinner. My mom had invited a few of her co-workers over to celebrate with us. She had also invited Logan, but I wasn't sure if he would come or not. I had an hour and a half left. That was plenty of time to get ready.

I threw the outfit on and rummaged in my closet for a cute pair of shoes to go with it. Deciding my black over-the-knee black boots were good, I made my way to the bathroom to start doing my hair and makeup.

When my curling iron was plugged in all the way I grabbed my makeup bag from under the counter. "Foundation, foundation, foundation." I muttered to myself searching for my foundation. When I found it, I applied just enough to smooth out my skin, but not enough to look like I was a walking cake.

My curling iron let out a little beep-beep-beep to let me know that it was fully warmed up. So I started to curl my hair into loose waves.

Forty five minutes later I was done.

Double checking myself in the mirror I headed downstairs to see if my mom needed any help. "Need any help mom?"

"Yeah actually. Do you mind taking over? I still have to get ready and all." As if to make her point she wiped sweat off her forehead with the back of her hand.

Without even saying anything I took the wooden spoon out of her hand. "Now go get ready. I've got everything in control down here."

She kissed my forehead and gave me a relieved smile, "Thank you so much Daytona. What would I ever do with out you?"

"Not be able to get ready. Now go before your guests arrive." With one last kiss to my forehead she walked upstairs.

I located the cook book to see what else I needed to do for this pie.

It looked as if my mom had already got started on making the crust. She had already started to layer it on the pan.

I grabbed a big pot and found the canned cherries in the pantry. Adding the rest of the ingredients I let it simmer on medium heat for ten minutes and then set it aside to cool for two.

When it was cool enough I poured the filling into the crust in the pan. With the left over dough for the crust, I cut out little petal shapes and layered it to make it look like a flower. Then I threw it into the oven to cook.

By that time my mom had came downstairs. Her hair was straight and she was wearing a nice, navy blue, backless dress. "Dang Mom. Look at you."

She gave me a confident smile and spun in a circle, "Do you think the guests will like it?"

"Well if they don't, then they can leave. Without any pie."

Laughing she asked, "Have you set the table?"

"No I just got done with the pie, but I can do it now while it's cooking." I grabbed the place mats from out of the cabinets. "How many do we need?"

"Well our family is six, including your uncle, then Elizabeth and her husband are coming. Oh and Dana. So nine. Oh and Logan, so ten."

I froze when she said Logan's name. So maybe he was coming.

I counted out ten place mates and set the table. Then I grabbed some plates and napkins to go with.

There was a knock on the door and my mom came running in to the kitchen, "Honey can you get the door?"

I nodded my head and prepared for the worse. The worse being Logan was standing at the door.

I grabbed the handle and opened the door. Instead of Logan standing there, a nice looking couple in their early thirties were standing holding out a container of dinner rolls.

"You must be Elizabeth and sorry I didn't catch your name earlier from my mom." I took the container from their hands.

"The names Brian. You must be Daytona." I nodded my head and kicked the door open a little wider.

"Come on in. Have a seat wherever you want. You guys are the first people here, so make yourself at home." They walked in and upon seeing my mom Elizabeth gave her a big hug.

"Thank you so much for inviting us Melissa. You have a lovely home. And look at your daughter. She's a spitting image of you." I gave a cheerful smile and set the rolls on the table.

Just as I did, the doorbell rang. My heart pounded in my chest with the thought that it could be Logan. "I've got it!" Mason yelled from upstairs and then the sound of footsteps banging down the stairs, let us know that he was coming.

"Hi I'm Dana. You must be Mason. What a cute boy you are." The lady at the door was super loud and one of the most obnoxious ladies I had the pleasure to ever hear.

I made overly obvious eye contact to my mother and in return she shook her head at my behavior and raised her eyebrow as if to say 'You better behave tonight or else.'

"Melissa!" Dana yelled in a nasally voice. I had to physically restrain myself from cringing. When she fully stepped into view the lady was probably only in her late twenties. She had straight, cropped, red hair that didn't even pass her chin. Her skin was smooth but you could see smile lines near her mouth and eyes. Dana was more on the heavier side, but she was still a pretty woman.

"Melissa!" I mimicked her voice, but only loud enough for Mason to hear it.

We had a good laugh but my mom shot us a glare and we shut up.

"Is the dinner ready Melissa?" My dad's voice caused me to whip my head to the bottom of the stairs.

I froze upon seeing him. I knew he wasn't going to do anything to me with company over, but it doesn't mean that two years of abuse can be so easily forgotten either.

As if sensing the change in my mood, Mason grabbed my hand and gave it a little squeeze.

"Yes Danny. Dinner is ready and our guests have all arrived. Well all but one. Daytona?"

"Start without him." I hadn't even given her time to finish asking me before I answered.

"Um okay then. Everyone sit wherever you'd like. Daytona is the pie done?" I nodded my head and walked over to the oven, taking out the pie.

"Here you go everyone." I set the pie on the table and looked around for an open seat.

The only one was either in between Dana and Brian, who I didn't know to well, or in between my dad and Mason, and across from the empty seat should Logan show up.

I went with the latter and sat in the chair between my father and Mason. I stared at the empty chair across from me with mixed feelings. I was relieved he wasn't here because I don't think I could handle seeing him after our fight, but at the same time, I was disappointed. If he was here, then I would be forced to talk to him and I didn't have to risk my pride by texting him first.

An arm draped over my shoulders and Mason pulled me in, "Hey. It'll be okay. Don't worry about him, I'm sure he will text you soon."

"Awe Melissa is this your daughters boyfriend?" Dana's high pitched voice rose even higher when she awed at Mason and I.

"Oh no. My daughter's boyfriend isn't hโ€“."

"I don't have a boyfriend. I haven't for awhile." I cut my mother off and tried to keep my voice level to let everyone know I didn't want to talk about it.

"My bad. My daughter's friend isn't coming tonight I don't think." But my mother was cut off again by the doorbell ringing.

A small smile fought for residency with the frown on my face, "Excuse me. I'll get that."

I scooted my chair back and walked to the door on wobbly legs, taking a deep breath before I opened it.

Logan stood on the other side of the door wearing a black jeans, a white T-shirt and a black leather jacket.

"Hey." He rocked back on his heels with his hands in his pockets.

"Hey." I replied back, "Uh. Come inside. We were just sitting down to eat." I moved out of the way to allow him to enter.

He came in without saying anything else. I followed behind him and quickly took a seat between Mason and my dad so I didn't have to listen to Dana.

"Thanks for joining us Logan." My mom's host voice was gone and this was all just a regular mom who's excited that her daughter met someone she likes.

"There's no way I could pass this up. Thank you for the invite Mrs. Melissa." Logan offered a polite smile and I could see he had won her over for good now.

"I don't believe we've met Logan. I'm Danny." He took a brief pause, almost as if it pained him to say the next bit, "Daytona's father." My dad offered Logan his hand to shake as if he was an actual parent.

Logan visibly stiffened when he saw his out stretched arm, but after a minute he shook it, "It's a pleasure to meet you Mr. Lyn."

Dana spoke again, "Well shall we start eating? I'm starving. I fasted all day just so I could enjoy this meal."

I leaned over and whispered into Mason's ear, "Something tells me she didn't need to fast to enjoy this meal."

He tried to hold back his laughter out of respect, but he let out a few giggles.

My mom shot us glares down from the other end of the table and I shrugged my shoulders.

Dinner went over really well and my mom even made sure the people who were to stuffed to eat dessert took a piece of pie home.

As we finally waved Dana goodbye (she would not leave), Logan pulled me aside. "Hey can I talk to you."

My heart thundered in my chest.

I had been dreading this moment all night and I hopped I could sneak off before he noticed, but at the same time I knew we needed to have this conversation sooner or later. So I nodded my head and walked upstairs knowing he would follow behind me.

When we were in my bedroom I had closed the door and leaned against it with my arms crossed, "So. What did you want to talk about."

"Daytona. You know what I want to talk about." His voice was light and airy, but also thick. It was like he hadn't slept for weeks on end.

Tilting my head to the side I squinted my eyes and shook my head. "Do I? Because a lot happened that night. So which part do you want to talk about. The part where you kissed me? Or when I kicked you out for it?"

He let out an aggravated sigh and dragged his hands down his face. "This isn't you. The Day I know would never act like this."

"Then maybe you don't know me as well as you thought."

"Why are you being such a bitch?!" His voice rose a little bit and I pressed myself further into the door.

"I'm being a bitch? You're the one who kissed me when I didn't want it. Then you threw a fit when I kicked you out!" I slammed my fist against the door, willing my tears away.

He took a dangerous step closer. Logan stood close enough now that I could touch him with out extending my arm all the way.

"The hell you didn't want it! If you didn't then why did you kiss back? Huh? Had you not kissed me back I would've understood. But this," he took another step, "I don't get at all. What is going on with you Daytona?"

I opened my mouth to say something, but I couldn't find the words because he was absolutely right. I wanted to kiss him so I did. But I also didn't want to loose him so I pushed him away and told him, and myself, that I didn't want it.

"Well? What is it Daytona? Why did you go berserk?" I shook my head and did the only thing I could.

I opened my door, "Get out." But Logan wasn't for it.

He slammed his hand onto the door and shut it hard. "Fuck Daytona! Quit running away from this! Whether you like it or not, I'm always going to be here for you. I don't care how far away you push me, I will always be here. So please just tell me what's wrong. If it's truly the fact that I kissed you then I will back off. But if it's not, then you have to tell me."

Tears filled my eyes and my vision was blurry, but I grabbed him by the back of the neck and pulled him forward and crashed my lips onto his. It didn't even take him a second before he returned the kiss.

When I pulled away I looked at him, "Does that seem like I didn't like the kiss? I was lying to you Logan. Lying to you to save myself." I played with the edge of my sleeve and walked over to my window seat, "Did you really think I didn't like you? I've been head over heels about you forever."

"Then why did you say you didn't like it."

"Because I'm scared Logan! I'm scared. Okay? The last person who I thought cared for me this much, left me in pieces and I had no one around to help put me back together. I had to do it myself, and I'm sorry if I'm scared about that happening again." I found a loose string on my sweater and started to pull on it.

"I won't leave you Daytona.".

"But how can I know that Logan. How?" I ran my fingers through my hair and let out a small laugh, "You don't get it do you? How could you? I mean you're practically perfect."

Walking over to me he hugged me and buried his head into my neck, "I'm far from perfect Daytona. I've gone through things too. You can talk to me you know? Like I said, I'll always be here for you. I won't leave you. You can trust me."

I gave a slight nod and hugged him back.

"So are you ready to talk to me?" He asked.

"No. Not yet. But one day, I will be."

"That'sgood enough for me." He gave my hand a squeeze and stood up. "Oh, Daytona? I have a question."

"Yeah?"

"Would you go to homecoming with me? If not I totally understand. I can wait until you come around, and if you don't, then I'll still always be around for you." He rubbed the back of his neck, obviously embarrassed. His kind gesture brought a smile to my lips.

"Yes I would." With a cheerful smile he bounded out of my room and I tilted my head back, exhaustion slipping over me.

It had been several days since I had a full hour of sleep. Everytime I would fall asleep, my brother would be there, yelling and screaming in my face. It used to be the same dream, I would wake up after my mom said she wished I was never born, but yesterday, after that, it switched back to my brother. I then raised my arms and pow, I shot a gun at him. Although I always woke up right after I pulled the trigger so I never knew if I hit him or not.

Sighing, I pulled my lifeless body up and went to my desk, pulling out a box of cigarettes.

When my brother died, I would spend all my time in his room and I found his old pack of cigarettes, so I decided to keep them.

I took a cigarette out of the box and lit it. I took a drag and blew the smoke out.

It seemed to take the weight off of my shoulders for a little bit.

My phone buzzed and I walked to my bed and grabbed it. I had one new text message from an unknown number.

Unknown:
Come downstairs and go outside in the backyard.

I ignored the text thinking it was just a wrong number text, but when the number texted again saying, Now, I walked downstairs just to entertain myself.

I opened the back door and looked around. It didn't look like anyone was out there, so I went to shut the door when I got another text:

Unknown:
I can see you. Put out that cigarette it's not good for you.

I dropped the cigarette and chills ran up my spine.

So it's not just a wrong number text.

"Who's out there," I asked.

There was movement in the bushes to my right and I moved towards them, "Who's there?" I tried to mask my voice so I didn't sound like I was so scared.

Then someone moved out from behind them. His hair looked almost the same from the last time I saw him. He was slightly taller then before, although he still stood a good five inches taller then me and his blue-green eyes lit up when they fell upon me. His ivory skin had developed a small tan and his mouth turned up into a captivating smile.

My eyes widened and I took a step back. There was no way he could possibly be here. It should've been physically impossible, but maybe it wasn't him.

I had to find out so I squeaked out in a small voice, "Cooper?"
