Blake wasn't acting the same. Jace could tell that easily. She hasn't been acting the same towards him, blowing him off and not really talking to him.

She's been in her room most of the time when she wasn't at school, not really eating anything either.

"Hey bubba" Jace smiled at her.

She gave him a tight smile, and sat down in her seat.

"How was your day?"

She only shrugged in response making him sigh.

"You look pretty today" he smiled.

She was wearing her dark red sweats with a big black baggy hoodie and her hair up in a messy bun again. She didn't have any makeup on and he thought she was drop dead gorgeous with no makeup on. Not that she wasn't beautiful with it on, he just loved when she had a bare face.

"Thanks" she murmured.

She began taking down notes, not paying any attention to Jace as he sighed.

"I love you."

His smile brightened when her stiff shoulders relaxed a bit.

Jace stopped by Blake's house after work. He had bought her a bunch of candies, hot cheetos, and a little teddy bear. He didn't know why she was acting like this, but he wouldn't let that stop him from trying to cheer her up.

"Is Blake home?" Jace asked Susie.

"She's up in her room."

Susie opened the door wider and Jace immediately walked upstairs making Susie smile at the teen boy.

Jace knocked softly, only hearing a soft growl from Sparrow.

Jace peeked his head in and saw Blake reading a book on her bed, Sparrow by her and staring at the door.

"Hey baby, I got you some stuff" Jace smiled.

"Thank you."

He sighed at her monotone voice, her eyes not lifting up from her spot on the book.

"Blake."

"Hmm."

"Can we talk?"

"I'm reading."

"Blake seriously, stop reading for a second."

She put her book down after sliding a bookmark in, "what?"

"What happened that made you act like this?" he asked her.

She shrugged, her eyes falling onto her songbook.

"Something must have happened."

"I got a letter back."

Jace furrowed his eyebrows, "from who?"

"The guy who killed my dad. I got a letter back and I read the first word and I couldn't continue. I've been trying to figure out what he could have said and it's annoying me."

"Would you like me to read it for you?" Jace asked softly.

"Can you?"

He nodded and she pointed to her songbook where the letter had laid beneath it. He grabbed it and opened it up gently.

"Read to myself first or out loud?"

"To yourself" she murmured.

Do you remember the person who killed John Lennon? The only way to get more famous is to kill a famous person? I got drunk when it was raining real hard and rammed into the first person I saw because my wife had just left me, but it just so happen to be Adam who was in the car. Do I regret what I did? Hell no, I've said it many times before, everyone in this place knows that. I only miss my freedom, but hey at least everyone knows my name, I am praised here by the other inmates. So sorry but I don't feel guilty at all. Quite satisfied with what I did honestly.

Jace's heart hurt and folded up the letter.

"What did it say?" she asked softly.

"You shouldn't read it" he said while shaking his head.

"It's that bad?"

He nodded, "I don't want you reading this okay?"

She nodded slowly, and opened her arms so he can hug her.

"I'm sorry I've been a bitch lately" she said softly.

"You haven't been one, I still love you."

He felt her relax and he combed his fingers through her hair.

"Can we take a bath?" she asked softly.

"Whatever you want baby."

Jace prepared the bath for them and they both slid in. She leaned up against Jace's bare chest as he ran his hands gently up her forearm.

"We graduate in six months" she spoke softly.

Jace opened his eyes, and looked down at her.

"I know, I plan on going to Ohio state."

"I know."

It was silent for a bit, a lot of thoughts going through Jace's mind.

"Will we break up?" she asked him.

"Why would we?"

"Would you want to do long distance with me?" she questioned him.

"Of course I would, would you?"

"Yeah, I could go to your dorm whenever I wanted. I'm doing my own thing."

"So we will make it work?" Jace asked her with a smile.

"Of course we will."

He sighed in relief, played with her fingers underneath the warm water.

"Thank you" she said out of the blue.

"For what?"

"Saving me" she murmured.

"Saving you how?"

Blake stayed silent, she didn't want to tell him a week before they became friends she was going to try and take her life for the third time. She planned it out and everything, but she just couldn't do it.

"Just- saving me."

She never planned on telling Jace that she had suicidal thoughts before, even attempted. Well- at least not yet. She didn't think it was a good idea. She also didn't want him to pity her even though she didn't think he would. It's just, how does one react when they find out their girlfriend tried taking her own life twice and planned her third attempt?

"What do y-"

"Can you read to me?" she asked him softly.

"Uh sure."

She pulled a book from out next to the tub and handed it to Jace after he dried off his hands. He opened up to the place where her bookmark sat and began reading to her in a soft tone.

Blake moved so she was straddling him, placing her head on Jace's shoulder. He brought his hand and rubbed it up and down slowly on her soft, wet back.

As Jace read to her, she had shut her eyes and listened to the sound of his voice. She felt safe, and for once in almost two years she felt at home; it was a feeling she missed greatly.

When the water began growing cold, Jace shut the book as Blake's prune like fingers played with Jace's under the water.

"Let's get out before you get too cold" he said softly.

She mumbled something he didn't understand so he tightened his grip on her and stood up. The water fell from the two teen bodies as Jace stepped out of the tub. He grabbed two red towels and placed Blake down before wrapping her tall body in it to keep her warm.

"Go get dressed in comfy clothes and I'll be there in a second."

"Okay" she murmured. "Can you brush my hair for me too?"

He smiled at her as he tied his towel around his waist, "of course bubba, now go change."

She nodded and he gave her a kiss on her cheek before she walked back into her room. He emptied the tub and wiped up around the floor before going to change into clothes he has at her place.

When they got all dressed, Jace brushed Blake's wet hair out gently and blow dried it so it wouldn't be wet when they laid down. He applied lotion to her face as she sat there with a lazy half smile on her lips.

"Cuddle?" she asked him.

He nodded and lifted her up off the chair and held her with one arm around he back and the other underneath her butt.

Jace absolutely loved when Blake was in a soft, clingy mood. It was rare when she acted like how she was now and he loved it when she was. But he also loved how she wasn't clingy all the time, and when they weren't in the cuddly mood they respected each other like that.

He fixed the blankets and laid on his back as Blake laid on his upper body. Jace pulled the blankets up to his girlfriend's shoulders as she tucked her face into his neck.

He rubbed his hands up and down her hoodie covered back as his other hand played with her long fingers that laid on his chest. He leaned his head more on hers so her face was hidden in her neck.

It was like he was shielding her from the world and anything that could possibly hurt her because there was nothing he hated more than when she got hurt. She didn't deserve that in his eyes. She deserved the world and he wanted to give it to her.
