"Why are you still following me? You've been doing this since yesterday when you got here." I said turning and looking at Camren, who was tailing from down the hall, to p.e. The hour which I dread even more.

"Why not? I mean we have the same classes and you're the only person I pretty much know here." She said smiling at me and continued to walk past me.

I stood there thinking then caught up to her, "How did you even get into AP classes, you don't seem like the brightest person." I said bluntly, while she was trying to pull a push door open.

"I may have my moments, but I actually am pretty smart." She said as she continued to struggle to open the door. Getting annoyed at her stupidity I moved her out of the way and pushed the door open.

"I can tell."

We made our way to the gym and into the locker room and let me just say it felt uncomfortable. It wasn't that Camren was talking away to me and making flirty gestures to the girls in the locker room, but it felt like someone was glaring at me. I looked around and saw no one staring, so I decided to shrug the feeling off.

***************

"Ok ladies gather around!" Our coach shouted at us. We all slowly made our way to her standing in a circle around her as we listened to what we had to say.

"So today I decided to do something a little different than what we've been doing for the past, ummm." She said as she was looking through her clipboard, trying to figure out how long we've been in school. What an idiot.

Getting tired and mad looking through papers she gave up, "Anyways I decided that we were going to have a little running competition today." She said smirking, which caused everyone to groan, expect me and Camren. I didn't really care if we ran or not, but Camren... she seemed a little too excited. Her excitement caused her to have nasty looks her way by some girls.

Everyone stood there whining and complaining, which made coach mad, "Everyone shut it or your all running laps until schools out!" She yelled which made everyone shut their mouths immediately. "Now as I was saying. We're going to have a little competition, which involves being paired up in two's. So everyone pick your partner and once you do, I will explain the rest." Everyone stood there confused looking at each other, but eventually started picking there partners.

I knew I wasn't going to be picked so I just stood there, knowing I'll be running by myself. Oh well.

"Hey Weirdo, wanna be my partner?" I looked up from staring at the ground and saw Camren standing in front of me with her hands on her hips smiling. I looked around and noticed everyone had a partner but me and her.

I looked back at her, "Sure why not." I said. Once everyone had there partners picked we made our way back to the coach who stood there smirking at everyone with there partners.

"Is everyone sure and confident about the partner they chose, because you can't change?" She asked still smirking and looking at everyone. All the girls stood there looking at each other including me not knowing what she was talking about. I scanned everyone until my eyes caught Ella's, I noticed her looking my way, but she wasn't looking at me, but glaring at Camren. What's her problem?

I decided to look away and listen to what the coach was saying, "Let me ask, did everyone remember, when I said this would be a running competition?" She asked as she was walking back and forth in her spot. I remembered, but I didn't care. I looked around again and noticed everyone's eyes were wide open, meaning they probably forgot and once they did remember they started groaning and complaining knowing the partners they chose were probably not the best ones.

The coach laughed and ignored there groans, "this'll be fun to watch...... now everyone listen up as I continue explaining." She walked to the track and stopped at the finish line. "You or your partner will begin here and your other partner will be on the opposite side of you, on the track. You will run all the way to her touch her hand and then she will run all to the finish line and whoever wins will get the rest of the week off from p.e. and won't  have to do anything." She said as she looked back at us, "Any questions before we start?"

One girl raised her hand, "so it's pretty much a relay? Why didn't you just say that rather than explaining everything." She said rolling her eyes and smacking her gum.

The coach glared at her and slowly walked to her, "Because I'm the coach and I felt like explaining it." She said getting up in her face causing the girl to lean back. "Got a problem with that?" She asked glaring at her.

The girl shook her head no quickly. The coach smiled, "good." She then grabbed her whistle and blew it, " everyone get in there spots!" All the girls, probably scared, ran quickly to there spots, besides Camren and I.

"Man that coach is pretty intimidating." Camren said to me while looking at the coach.

"You get used to it." I said, not really caring.

We stood there talking for a second and agreed I would begin the race and she would finish. I watched her make her way to the other side and noticed Ella there two. I then watched as Camren made her way to her spot which was right next to her. I watched them two talking, but noticed there conversation changed from what seemed like it was friendly to competitive.

"Everyone ready!" The coach yelled. Everyone nodded their heads yes and started getting situated. I hate running, I should've skipped class. "On you mark!.... get set!.... go!" She yelled as she shot a fake gun.

All of us girls took off running and surprisingly I was ahead, which is weird since I'm one of the slowest runners, but then I noticed the rest of the girls I was running against. I guess the other girls had the same idea. Let the slow ones start and fast ones finish.

I continued my pace, just over half way there, but felt myself getting slower. I noticed a girl that was behind me who quickly caught up to me. She looked at me and glared, "Hey Weirdo." Then within seconds I noticed her foot stick out in front of me causing me to trip. Why am I not surprised.

I sat there staring as one girl at a time continued to pass me. Do you think Camren will be mad if I sat here? Probably, but I don't care.

I watched as the girl, who tripped me was nearly to her partner, which was Ella. Of course. I then looked at Carmen who was looking at me with a smile on her face, not mad at all, cheering me on, "It's ok if you can't do this! I understand!" She hollered. So I guess I will sit here then.

But as I sat there looking at her, I noticed how her smile was fading a bit, feeling guilty I sighed and got up and began running as fast as I could. I guess all my feelings haven't left. I quickly caught up to the other girls, which was easy since they are slow and touched Camren's hand.

At this point she was already in fourth place, which means she's going to have to quickly catch up, but to my surprise and everyone else's she passed each girl one at a time until she was head to head with Ella.

I watched them running fast and noticed every now and then they would glare at each other and open there mouths, saying something, making each other mad.

All the girls around me started yelling and cheering for either Ella or Camren.

"Hey Weirdo aren't you going to pick a girl to cheer for?" I looked at the girl talking to me then back at the two running. Pick? Why should I pick?

I watched as they were past the 100 meter line and knew this was it.

It seemed like forever until they reached the finish line, but they finally did, causing the coach to shoot the fake gun again and blow her whistle.

All the girls around, still cheering, quickly ran to the finish line, but I took my time since I was still tired from running.

The coach stood there, standing between Ella and Camren, waiting, I'm guessing for everyone to get there, because when I showed up she began to announce the winners, "So the winner of the race," she began, "by a hair. Is...... Ella... and Sally!" She said holding up her hand, and almost forgetting about Ella's partner. All the girls standing around started cheering for Ella and Sally, but pretty much Ella, even if they knew they would still have to continue running the rest of the week.

I looked at Ella who was being surrounded, but looked away when I noticed her glancing my way. I then looked at Carmen who stood there looking, I think upset. I walked to her and stopped when I was standing by her, "You did... good out there." I said trying my best to give a compliment.

She looked at me giving me a small smile, "thanks! You did good too."

"Not really,  I wanted to give up." I said bluntly.

"But you didn't." She smiled.

"Yeah, I guess you're right." I said smirking. I felt my face and thought to myself feeling confused. I guess once you start feeling things and doing things, it's hard to get rid of.

My thoughts were interrupted when I  felt someone bump into me pretty hard almost making me fall to the ground. I looked up and saw it was Ella who gave me a look I couldn't explain, then she glared at Camren.

"Watch it Weirdo!" one girl in the group barked, giving me an ugly look.

"Wow those girls are jerks. Especially that Ella." She said watching them walk to the locker rooms. "Are you ok?" She asked turning to look at me.

"I'm fine." I said watching the group of girls entering the locker room and thinking about what Ella just did. "Let's go change... You stink." I said bluntly and headed to the locker room too.

She caught up to me, "You stink too." She said smiling.
