You had been spending the majority of your time at the Gryffindor dorms after your latest incident with Malfoy. Your friends all wanted to protect you from him, and you appreciated this, even though you felt slightly annoyed by their coddling. You knew that you could take care of yourself, but they all acted as if you were a younger sister that needed protection. You knew that it was because Malfoy had hurt you quite a bit since the year began, and your friends worried about you, but you wished they could just trust you sometimes.

It was a rainy Friday morning as you raced to the Gryffindor dorms at an ungodly hour and pushed these ponderings to the back of your mind. Slipping past the fat lady portrait and through the empty common room, you climbed up the stairs to the boys' dorms. You tiptoed to Fred and George's room, knocking lightly, and listening for someone's voice. You heard Lee Jordan's grumbling voice wondering who was there while you had your ear pressed against the door.

Carefully pushing the door open, you wandered in, slightly squinting your eyes so as not to see anything you weren't supposed to see. Kenneth Towler lifted his head from his pillow and dropped it again when his eyes caught on your auburn hair. Lee Jordan's eyes followed you as you moved about the room.

You shuffled over to George's bed and plopped down beside him. He blinked at you with squinted eyes and furrowed eyebrows while Fred groaned from his bed, "Merlin, Potter, what time is it?"

You chuckled softly, "Probably about seven now."

Stuffing his face deeper in his pillow, Fred complained, "Why? Why?" You decided you would wish him a happy birthday once he had woken up more since he didn't seem all too pleased about your early morning arrival.

George still hadn't said a word, but he just kept blinking up at you. After a few moments, he slowly smiled at you. He reached a hand up and lazily stroked the end of your hair as his eyes still blinked heavily. You gently rubbed your fingers into his head and ran them through his soft hair while you whispered, "Happy birthday, George."

Eyes closing at the comforting gesture, he dopily grinned at you. Before long, he grabbed your hands and tugged on them, pulling you down to lay beside him. He threw his blankets over you and wrapped his arms around your waist. He exhaled deeply while his face found its home in your neck. You played with the hair at the nape of his neck while he drifted back into a peaceful sleep again. You happily smiled and kept gently playing with his hair until you sensed eyes on you.

You glanced to the other side of the room to find Lee Jordan sitting up in his bed, staring at you with a strange grin. You blinked, slightly unnerved by his staring and shifted lower under the blankets. Wordlessly, Fred chucked a pillow at Lee before pulling his other pillow on top of his head and grumbling loudly. You swore you heard the likes of, "Why did she have to wake us up so early on my birthday," mixed in there somewhere.

Softly chuckling, you placed a gentle kiss on top of George's head, the boy humming happily in response. After around half an hour, you shifted slightly and caressed George's face. He slowly opened his eyes at your gentle touch and brushed his nose against yours once he saw your beaming face.

Kenneth suddenly groaned, "You two better not start snogging and interrupting my last peaceful moments of sleep."

George rolled his eyes before he whipped the curtains of his bed shut with a single flick of his wand. He buried his face into your neck and sighed, his breath tickling you and making you softly giggle.

The sound of Kenneth grumbling under his breath made you and George only laugh more. You both jumped when Fred whipped open George's curtains to stare at the two of you with mischief dancing in his eyes. He declared, "Happy birthday, brother. It's time."

You chirped, "Happy birthday, Fred!"

Grinning at your warm wish, Fred yanked his twin from the bed beside you. You smiled widely when you saw that George slept in pajamas bottoms that had little monkeys on them. They had been hidden by the blankets before, and his top had been deceivingly plain. George looked down at his pajamas before shrugging and allowing his brother to drag him out of the room to get dressed for the day.

When they didn't return for quite some time, you stood and grabbed your bag from the floor. You slipped into the hallway to see if you could find them anywhere, and you squealed when someone with a red mop of hair threw you over their shoulder.

George grunted, "Took you long enough."

Fred stood behind him, leaning against the wall and smirking. He winked at you with a knowing look in his eyes, and your stomach dropped.

"I am now highly concerned because of Fred's expression. George Weasley, you better not be planning something sinister," You warned as you wiggled on his shoulder.

George gasped, "Me? I could never."

He carried you down to the common room, but you only fought against him harder as you neared the room. You grumbled, "George Weasley, everyone is going to be staring at me!"

Listening to your request, he dropped you to the ground in front of him in the empty nook of the tower. George stepped towards you, and you took steps back until you leaned against the wall and gripped his robes in your hands. He lowered his face to your ear and whispered, "You're cute when you're mad, Potter."

You giggled as you remembered that moment from not quite a year ago. You lifted your hand and brushed a fallen strand of hair behind his ear. Unable to hold back a grin, you sighed, "Yes, I'm furious, Weasley."

His eyes twinkled as he teased, "Well, I think I have a solution for that." His eyes scanned your face before falling on your lips. He leaned in, his breath fanning your face before he pulled away at the last second and threw you over his shoulder again in one swift motion.

Hitting his back, you squealed, "George Weasley!"

George entered the common room, smugly smiling at anyone who glanced your way. You rolled your eyes when the trio stood by the fireplace and watched you with curious expressions. Hermione mouthed, "Good luck."

Before long, George had reached his destination and set you on your feet by the lake. You grinned up at him and wondered, "Why are we out here? Are you about to try to push me in?"

He put his hand on his chin as if he was just now considering it before he took your hands. He sighed, "We have a busy day of pranking ahead of us, but Fred agreed that I could steal away for a few moments to be with you."

You grinned up at him before you pulled a wrapped box from your bag. You placed it in his hands, and he gratefully took it. He tore the wrapping paper away and opened the box. Inside was a notebook that you had filled with some of your favorite jokes and pranks. Sprinkled throughout were some photos of the two of you or sweet messages you wrote for him. He flipped through some of the pages with a beaming smile. He picked you up and spun you around slightly before declaring, "This is the most thoughtful gift anyone has ever given me. It makes that it would have come from the most thoughtful girl I know."

You beamed at him before cheering, "I'm so glad you like it, but there is one other thing."

George knit his eyebrows together and tilted his head to the side. He wondered, "Which is...?"

"This!" You lifted onto your toes and gave him a quick peck on the lips. George leaned closer to give you a deeper kiss when you heard someone whistling. You both snapped your heads to find Fred a few paces away, waving George over. He mouthed, "Time to go."

George looked down at you sadly before he pressed his lips to your forehead for a second. You handed him a bag of Fred's favorite candy and asked George to give it to him from you. George agreed and ran off to join his brother. You watched them go with a smile, knowing that they would have an exciting birthday full of laughter and mischief.
