[Chapter four]

Megan and I walk into Pizza Palace, aka the best pizza place in town.

We sit down across from each other in a booth.

"Hey, Nevaeh, Megan." Maria smiles at us. We come here so often we know pretty much all the workers. "The usual?"

I nod.

"Yup." Megan answers.

"Half Hawaiian and half Sausage coming right up." Maria grins, placing a can of Coke down for me and a can of Sprite down for Megan before walking away.

"Hey, Nevaeh!"

Megan and I both look towards the door and find Max waving frantically, Dylan smiling, and Noah just standing there with his hands stuffed in his pockets, with, surprise, surprise, no emotion on his face.

I swear that dude's a rock.

"Noah, Dylan, get the usual." Max demands before walking over, leaving Noah and Dylan at the counter.

He slides into the booth next to me, throwing an arm around my shoulders.

"Hey, Meg. Can I call you Meg? I'm going to call you Meg." Max rambles as he gives my best friend his signature cheeky grin, who blushes, smiling back at him as she avoids eye contact.

"Dude, everyone calls her Meg." I roll my eyes, throwing his arm off my shoulder. "And don't touch me."

"Okay, okay, jeez." Max throws his arms up in surrender. "But I will melt that ice around your heart one day!"

"Whatever." I sip my coke

"Can I have your accent?"

"Uhm, what?"

Max sighs dramatically. "Your accent. Can I have it?"

"Uh, sure?" I answer, but it sounds more like a question.

"Sweet." He grins. "Hey, bro!"

I cringe at his imitation of a Kiwi accent. "You suck."

"Well, I'm sorry, but not everyone can have frickin cool ass accents like you and Noah!" He exclaims, pouting.

Just then, Dylan slides into the booth next to Megan, and Noah slides in next to him.

"Can you stop yelling?" Noah grumbles. "There are other people here who don't want to listen to the stupid shit that comes out of your mouth."

Dylan chokes on his Dr. Pepper and Megan giggles behind her hand.

I clear my throat. "I don't remember inviting any of you to sit with us."

"You didn't, Carter." Noah says. "But it's a free country and we can sit wherever we please."

I stop myself from physically swooning at his accent and roll my eyes, which I seem to do a lot when I'm around these guys.

"I like your necklace."

I snap my head to Dylan. "What?"

"Your necklace." He gestures down to my necklace with is hanging out of my hoodie. "I like it. It's nice."

"Uh, thanks." I clear my throat, stuffing it back in my hoodie.

I see Noah staring at me from across the table, a thoughtful expression on his face.

"Alright, one half Hawaiian and half Sausage pizza, and two Meat Lovers pizzas." Maria places the trays down on the table.

I grab a slice of Hawaiian pizza and shove it in my mouth, moaning in delight.

"If I could marry pizza, I would." I groan through a mouthful of pizza. "Actually, screw pizza. Eggos are where it's at!"

"Yes, girl!" Max holds his hand out for a fist bump which I gladly return. "I love Eggos!"

"Should I stay or should Eggo." We both sing in unison before staring at each other with wide eyes. "You watch Stranger Things too?!" We yell in unison. "Hell yeah, I do!" We yell in unison again.

"Hey, Max?" Meg laughs. "I think you just melted the ice around her heart."

"And all it took was a Stranger Things reference." Max fist pumps the air before pointing at Noah and Dylan. "Screw you dipshits, I just found my new best friend!"
