[Chapter sixteen]

Tap.

Tap.

Tap.

What the fu--

I swear under my breath, switching on my bedside lamp as I slip out of bed and go to my balcony, pushing the curtains open.

I dive to the side as soon as I see Noah standing on the other side of my sliding door.

Thank god he was looking the other way and didn't see my face.

I grab my a random hoodie from the ground, putting it on, making sure the hood covers my face before standing up and opening the door.

"What the fuck are you doing here?" I growl silently as he slips into my room.

"Well aren't you just little miss sunshine?" He rolls his eyes. "Get dressed. We're going somewhere."

"It's two in the damn morning and we have school tomorrow, you fuckwit." I curse at him.

"Does it look like I care?"

"No, not really."

"Hurry up and get dressed."

*~*

"Where the hell are we going?" I groan as I trudge behind Noah while we walk down the street.

"Somewhere." Is all he says.

"Would you at least tell me what we're doing on the other daMN SIDE OF TOWN?!" I shout, making him cover my mouth with his hand.

"Shut up, yeah?" He hisses. "And it's not the other side of town."

I slap his hand away from my mouth. "Really? Goo-"

"It's the next town over."

"What?!"

"Shut up!"

"You brought me to the next town over?!" I grit my teeth in exasperation.

"Obviously." He rolls his eyes.

"And I still can't believe you took Max's jeep!"

"I know you can't." He states. "You've only said it five thousand times since I picked you up."

"Picked me up?" I repeat. "More like kidnapped me."

"I didn't kidnap you." He rolls his eyes.

"When I refused to get dressed, you grabbed a random pair of sweatpants, forced them on me, then literally dragged me out of my room and threw me off the balcony!"

"Hey, okay, I did not throw you off the balcony." He defends himself. "I prefer the term 'gently tossed'."

"Yeah, well, thanks to your "gentle toss"," I use my fingers as quotation marks. "I landed on my face and got a mouthful of grass."

"You didn't break in half." He rolls his eyes for the hundredth time this morning. "You're fine."

"I--"

He cuts me off. "We're here!"

He walks in through the doors of a gas station and I follow him.

"You brought me to the other side of town just to go to the gas station?!" I exclaim as I throw my hands up.

"No." He says simply. "You're not that special."

"Well then."

He rolls his eyes. "I only brought you here to get some food or whatever. Next stop is where I wanted to take you."

I don't say anything as I make my way around the gas station grabbing a bag of gummy bears, a bag of BBQ chips, a bottle of Mountain Dew and a packet of Oreos.

"Kade, hurry up!"

"For fucks sakes, I'm coming, Princesa!"

A stunning girl with light brown hair and piercing stormy grey eyes comes running into the gas station with a gorgeous guy who has beautiful bright blue eyes and soft-looking black hair trailing behind her. They both look around my age.

The girl runs to the section I'm in and grabs as many packs of Oreos as she can.

She grins at me and I can't help but smile back.

Aww, she has one of those smiles. The contagious ones that you can't help but smile back at.

"¡Hola!" She greets me before a pack of Oreos starts slipping from her grasp. "Shit!"

A hand reaches out and catches it just as it falls out of her arms. "Don't worry, Princesa. I got you."

"Thanks, dude." She smiles cheekily at him. "Now why don't you get me even more Oreos, okay? Okay."

"Or I can not get you more and just pay for these instead." He copies her tone before his voice returns to its deep tone. "Coke or Sprite?"

She pouts at him for a few seconds before answering. "Coke."

"Ok-"

"And Sprite."

The boy groans before stalking off to the back of the store where Noah is.

"I'm Summer-Storm." The girl -Summer-Storm- turns back to me. "That butthead that won't let me get more Oreos is Kayden."

I nod. "Best friend or boyfriend."

"Mmm, both." She smiles softly, turning to look at him with admiration before turning back to me.

I smile at that.

They're so cute.

"I'm Nevaeh." I introduce myself. "That British loser your boyfriend's making conversation with is Noah."

"Hmm, let me guess," Summer-Storm starts, a small smirk on her face. "He came to your house in the middle of the night, forced sweats up your legs and kidnapped you when you refused to leave the house?"

My jaw drops open in shock. "How..?"

"I can see the shorts through your sweats." She points at my thighs where there is, in fact, the outline of my shorts visible through the material of my sweatpants. "The rest was just a lucky guess."

"Lucky guess?" I gape. "You're a frickin' mind reader!"

"No, it's happened to me before. You have no idea how many times Kade's kidnapped me and dragged me on a midnight adventure." She chuckles. "Today, I decided to be a little shit and drag him along instead."

I laugh. "You guys are pretty cute."

"Thanks." She adjusts the multiple packs of Oreos in her arms. "So what's up with you and that British hunk?"

I choke on my saliva. "What?"

"Well, I know you're not dating, and you're not exactly friends either." She explains. "But you've been sneaking glances at him every five minutes and vice versa."

"I--uh--well--um--" I stutter, not knowing what to say.

Kayden and Noah walk up to us with fizzy drinks in their hands.

"Ready to go, Princesa?" Kayden questions.

"Yeah. Bye, Nevaeh." Summer-Storm says before leaning closer and whispering in my ear. "Novah. I ship it."

She steps back and flashes a smile at Noah, who's lips twitch before he smiles back.

See! She has a contagious smile! I mean, Noah smiled for crying out loud!

Noah and I watch as they pay for their stuff and start walking to the door, Summer-Storm holding the bag of Oreos and Kayden holding the bag of drinks.

Summer-Storm says something, smiling cheekily, making Kayden wrap an around her shoulder, pulling her close as he laughs and replies. She reaches up with her free hand and flicks him in the forehead, making him laugh more as they exit the gas station.

How the heck are they so cute?!

"They really love each other." Noah pipes up, making me turn to him.

"Huh?"

"They kept looking at each other every five minutes with these goo-goo eyes." He explains. "It was disgustingly cute."

"It was even disgustingly cute." I defend them, rolling my eyes. "They're freaking adorable and you know it."

"I know." He rolls his eyes. "What did she say to you?"

"None of your beeswax." I grab another pack of Oreos before walking up to the counter.

Noah walks up with the drinks and pays before we head back to Max's jeep--which Noah stole!

He starts the car and drives for about ten minutes before he parks in an empty field.

"Did you bring me here to murder me?" I question as we both get out of the jeep. "Oh my frickle-frackle, you did! Stay back! I know jujitsu!"

He rolls his eyes. "I didn't bring you here to murder you, Carter."

"Then why are we--"

"Look up."

I ignore him and keep talking until he puts his hand under my chin and tilts my head up.

"Woah."

"It's beautiful, isn't it?" He hums as he lies on the hood of the jeep, pulling me up with him.

"Woah."

He chuckles slightly. "I'll take that as a yes."

"This is where you wanted to bring me?" I question, lying back on the jeep beside Noah.

"Yeah." He answers. "I felt bad for being an arse to you earlier. I shouldn't have assumed that you hadn't lost someone close to you. I'm sorry."

I smile slightly. "Wow, a guy apologising. I guess not every dude has pride the size of China."

"Shut up, Carter."

*~*

Surprise! Stayden!

I really missed writing the 'His' series and thought Summer and Kade could make a little surprise visit in this book.

Also, the reason I used Stayden instead of Rivel or Lake is because I did start writing this book a little bit before the 'His' series, so it makes more sense.

I hoped you liked the chapter.
