MERCURYS POV.

"Should I be concerned that you're friends with a bakery owner way older than you?"

"No. Don't worry, their not creepy people."

"So they're not in love with you?"

"No, they aren't Warren level." I reassured as we walked down the sidewalk. "And it's owned by a man and his husband, so you might actually be the one they're in love with-," I was cut off by a large figure pushing me hard, causing me to stumble back and grab Angelo so I wouldn't fall.

The dogs immediately darted after the figure, one grabbing the back of their knee, the other jumping high enough to grab their shoulder.

Wow.

"Woah, did you train them with actual military leaders?" I asked.

"Something like that. Are you alright?" He asked.

"Yeah I'm fine. What do you think he was doing?"

"I think he came out of that shop." He pointed a few doors down.

That's the bakery.

"That's the bakery. Try to make sure the boys don't kill him, I'll be back." I quickly walked to their shop.

"What happened?" I asked as I saw Liam and Jordan trying to clean up a large mess of frosting and cupcakes.

"Mercury! Thank god. You missed it by like two minutes, we just got held up and robbed and the prick pushed down an entire cart of cupcakes!" Liam yelled before covering his mouth. "Sorry, I'm just really angry." He apologized.

"No please it's fine. Hold on a sec." I stepped back outside of the door.

Angelo was stepping on the mans back, making sure he didn't move.

"Ang! He just stole money from them!" I yelled.

"Good enough for me!" He yelled back as he grabbed the man.

"He's coming back. Here, let me help you guys." I grabbed a towel and bent down to help them clean.

Only to be met with Liams shriek.

"Jesus, what?"

"Don't you dare! I know Gucci when I see it!"

"I'd listen to him. He can be quite... protective of designer." Jordan chimed in.

He reminded me a little bit of Angelo, just because of the fact that he tan in complexion and had loads of tattoos.

"It's fine I prom-,"

The man who had caused all of this was quite literally thrown into the shop.

"Jesus! What the hell are you-," Liam looked up.

"Liam, Jordan, this is my dad, Angelo. Ang, this is Liam and Jordan. They have accents so they're cool."

"Where are you guys from?" Angelo shook both of their hands.

"I-We-," Liam turned to Jordan. "If I weren't married to you, I'd have him for dessert."

"I was about to say the exact same thing love."

"Good, I'm glad we had this talk." Liam nodded before turning back to us.

I had a feeling that would happen.

"I'm from Australia, if you couldn't tell, and my hubbie here is from New Zealand. It's amazing to meet you! We just adore your Mercury, she's absolutely lovely."

"You too, thanks." He softly smiled. "How much did he take?" He pointed to the now groaning thief.

"Around five hundred."

"Alright, cough it up." Angelo instructed.

"I don't know what you're-,"

"Mars!" He called.

"Alright, alright!" The man tossed a stack of cash to the owners.

"Did you want to press charges or?"

The couple looked at each other and shrugged. "Nah, I think you handled it. Thank you."

"No problem." He grabbed the man again, tossing him back outside.

"Mercury, you didn't tell me your father was... real."

"Yeah I did, you just thought I edited the picture."

"God, look at those biceps."

"Liam?" Jordan said.

"Yeah?"

"Stop drooling sweetheart. One of us has to stay calm."

"Right, sorry. Where was I- Mercury, you're going to stain your dress!" He scolded as I began to help them clean again.

"Angelo, can you tell them it's fine?"

"It's fine. Her grandmother buys her plenty of clothes, it doesn't matter if one dress is dry cleaned. Do you guys have coffee?"

"Yes. Jo! Get the man some coffee, on the house of course."

"That's really unnecessary-,"

"You and your daughter just saved us time and hundreds of dollars, let us give you some coffee." Jordan reassured.

"Thank god I had so much extra batter when I made these. I just need to make some buttercream, but that'll be quick."

"Do you need help frosting?"

"Oh, I couldn't possibly-,"

"You'd be doing her a favor. She loves frosting things." Angelo chimed in.

"This is true."

"Well if you really want to. Let me go make a batch real quick and we'll get started." Liam smiled.

Angelo and Jordan actually got along really well, and had been talking for a while.

"So you're a tattoo artist?"

"Yeah, he takes care of the shop for the most part while I draw on people for a living." He laughed.

"Are you any good?"

"I don't know, what do you think?" He lifted his sleeves. "These are all me."

"Damn. How much do you charge?"

"Depends on the piece."

"I'll give you five hundred dollars to give me a cover up."

"You serious?"

"Yeah. Right now if that's possible."

"Sure. What did you want done?"

He shrugged. "Are you good at plants?"

"Yeah, I actually do those a lot."

"Hey Ang?"

"What babe?"

"Can I have a hair tie before you get all inked up again?"

"Here." He took one off of his wrist before talking to Jordan again. "How good are you at Rosemary?"

No.

"Noooo." I dramatically dragged out. "You've got my initial behind your ear and my name on your ribs. I'm taking you over."

As surprising as it was for him, he was actually really proud to have a kid.

A month ago, him and Gino got drunk again, and he came home with a detailed bear and cub on his chest.

Because he was and always will be the damn Papa Bear.

That was his drunken explanation anyways.

"I'd rather it be you. Besides, I've been planning this, I just haven't had the time. Rosemary is long enough to cover a name."

"Oi! Come here little helper!" Liam called from behind the counter.

I guess I have no choice.

"Your moms going to kill you." I said to Angelo before walking away.

"What are they up to over there?" Liam asked.

"Your husbands going to tattoo my father."

He stood still for a moment, thinking before talking to Jordan. "Hey Honey? Will he have to take his shirt off?"

"Yeah, that was the plan." Jordan winked.

"Awesome, thanks."

    "You two are definitely soulmates."

"I know."

ANGELOS POV.

"So that seriously doesn't hurt at all?"

"Nope." I said as I opened the passengers side door.

"Did it hurt when you were getting it?"

"No. Are you tired?"

"Yes."

"I can tell."

She always asks questions when she tired.

Thank god one of her middle names is Rosemary. It was the perfect length to cover her mother's name.

"So what'd you think about them? Aren't they cool?"

"They are quite the flirty pair. By the way, we are going to their place for dinner next week. Liam forced me into it. Jordan seemed pretty happy about it too."

"That's because they want to be my stepdads."

"I'm fairly certain that I'm one hundred percent sure that I'm into women, but if I change my mind I'll give them a call."

    "Cool."

I was as tired as Mercury was, my day being long as hell.

Of course, I missed her like crazy, but it was definitely time for bed.

"How many of my hoodies are missing?" I eyed her as we walked upstairs.

    "Only one."

"And...?"

"A pillow... but that's it, I swear."

"You have like twenty."

"But yours are better."

"They're the exact same."

"No. One is yours."

Whatever, at least she loves me.

"You're obsessed with me, it's fine."

"No, you're clothes and pillows are just more comfortable."

    "Right, because they're mine."

"Exactly."

"And you're not obsessed?"

"No."

"Sure, we'll just agree to disagree. Get some sleep darling, I'll see you in the morning." I kissed the top of her head.

"You didn't say goodnight to the dogs."

Good lord.

"My apologies. Dogs, goodnight."

"They said goodnight back."

"Oh did they?"

"Yes, they aren't rude." She said as if I were supposed to know that already.

"Well ok then." I watched her close her bedroom door before going to my own room.

   It's good to be home.

I was just moments away from finally falling asleep when there was a knock at my door.

     Why didn't I expect this?

I tiredly trudged to the door, opening it to see my child and two dogs.

     They're like triplets.

All of them had a hopeful look in their eye.

"Fine." I sighed as I let them in.

"Come on guys!" Mercury hopped on the bed, making herself comfortable as the dogs found their own spots next to her.

"Jesus, I should've just gotten a couple of couches put in here." I groaned.

This was the longest I had been away in a long time.

So, of course, they didn't plan on leaving me alone.

I actually really didn't mind.

"We need a spill sesh. You go first."

Might as well.

"You remember Zia Sharon and Zio George?"

"Sharon had those heart shaped eyeglasses right?"

"Yeah."

"Yeah I remember them. Also I want those glasses for next Valentine's Day."

"Word is that George had an affair-"

"No way."

"-So Sharon cheated on him with his ex wife. You didn't get that from me."

"Double no way." She gasped. "Good for Sharon though."

   "Oh definitely. Your turn."

"I saw Nick the other day."

Ah fuck.

As in Nick? Nicholas?

"What happened?"

"Well I saw him in this bookstore, remind me to drag you there tomorrow, it's really nice in there-,"

"Bella."

"Right. Anyway, he asked how I was and how you were. And then I asked how mom was, even though I don't really care, and he said she was fine but she still missed me."

"What happened after that?"

"I told him to tell her I was alive and well. And then I told him I'd see him around, and then I left."

    "That's it?"

"Yeah. You weren't there so there wasn't any blood spillage."

The last I had heard of them was from Uncle Lorenzo.

Because he was the one that put them in debt.

He was the head of a completely different family, and no one knew about it. Not even my father.

The reason that they were forgiven is because he said he owed me.

It was his way of apologizing after everything he said about Mercury.

The deal was that I would keep it quiet and he would make sure Mercurys mother stayed busy enough to stay the fuck out of the picture.

So I stayed silent.

And I haven't seen her since Italy.

"So they're alive huh?" I leaned back.

"I guess so."

"I'm glad you don't care."

"Almost a year ago, I would've. But now- I don't know. I guess I just don't need them so there's no reason to care. Does that sound bad?"

"I just covered up the name of the mother of my child in front of my child. There's definitely a reason behind all of this and no, it doesn't make either of us bad people." I scoffed.

"Fair enough." She shrugged as she layer down next to me. "So this is life now huh? Weekly therapy and talking trash about the other bio parent?"

"That works for me. You?"

"Yeah."

"Good."

"Hey Ang?"

"Hm?"

"Is it fun having a kid?"

That's a good question.

Is taking care of someone fun?

Is taking care of a sick kid fun?

Is it the single parenting that's fun?

Is sitting through hours of movies you don't want to watch fun?

Maybe it's the constant worrying that's fun?

Or maybe even it's the random nights that end with your teenager knocking on your door?

Well, I guess it's a door that got this all started in the first place.

"I wouldn't change it for the world. My doors always open."

"Good."

           THE GIRL AT HIS DOOR.

And yes, they lived happily ever after.
