ANGELOS POV.

I don't think I was ever meant to be a good person.

"I'll be outside."

I was going through a stage of shock.

"What are you going to do about it Lesca?"

There's no way he was speaking to me when he said that.

He couldn't have been.

"I'd follow her advice." I looked at Adaline and her stepdaughter.

They knew better than to hesitate listening to my suggestion.

Adaline was quick to grab Violet by her hand and pull her away from the two of us.

I stood up slowly, staring him in the eye.

He didn't waver at first. He kept a strong stance, thinking that there was any way he could win this.

That was until I spoke to him.

"What am I going to do about it?"

MERCURYS POV.

I sighed as I closed the door behind me.

He's going to kill him.

I leaned against the house as a family walked by.

The couple held hands as their young children held onto their golden retrievers leash, the dog being too big for just one of them to hold it.

Their parents shared a smile as the watched them laugh as they struggled with the dog.

Another perfect family.

"Whatcha up to little boss?" Dominick asked as he kept watch, making sure no one came near the house while we were here.

Where the hell is Gino?

"Just having deniability about what's happening in there." I plainly shrugged.

"Quite the neighborhood, isn't it?"

Dominick was in his forties, with grey eyes and brown hair. He had started working for Gio while he was still the boss, and had been loyal to the family ever since.

"It's pretty boring." I chuckled.

"God, I'd prefer living in the alley on fifth than this place." He shuddered.

"It's not that bad."

"There's a park just a couple of blocks down."

Ok it's pretty bad.

"Look at it this way. We are both obviously city people. We probably weren't meant to like places like this." I pointed out. "The only reason I like our house is because no one else is around."

How could I?

People payed a lot of money for these houses to still be able to see their neighbors.

"I suppose that's-," He was cut off as the front door opened and closed again.

"What's he going to do?" Violet asked as Adaline pulled her outside.

Great.

"What's going on?" Dominick asked the pair.

"It's Angelo. He's not very happy." Adaline responded. "I have to go back in-,"

"With all do respect-,"

"He could kill him!"

She definitely doesn't have her priorities straight.

He rolled his eyes before turning back to me.

"Does she ever stop talking?"

"I wish." I answered.

If she did, I'd probably be a lot less pissed off.

"Anyways," he looked back at the other two. "I'm afraid neither of you can stop whatever the fuck he's about to do."

The sound of glass shattering ended his sentence for him.

"You don't know that." Violet crossed her arms.

Wow.

"I'll be back little boss." He groaned before going back inside, trying to keep the murder to a minimum.

Lucky bastard.

He left me with these two?

"Your father can put up a good fight. We shouldn't be worried." She tried to calm Violet down.

Even though you could see that she didn't even believe her own words.

The sound of a thud interrupted them, making Violet flinch and my mother lock eyes with me.

He's pretty pissed.

"Violet, I would like you to meet Mercury, she's my daughter." She cleared her throat as she gestured over to me.

I just gave a simple nod to her, knowing Angelo didn't want me talking to them much.

"You two are close in age. Violet is seventeen." She attempted to make small talk with me.

"I'll be eighteen soon." She quickly added. "So I'm not really a child." She looked at me.

Is that why she thinks my father is-

"Capa!" A man tore the door open.

That can't be good.

"Who the hell are you talking about?" Violet asked.

"We need some help in here."

"I can help." She volunteered herself.

No she can't.

"No, I'm afraid you can't." He responded.

I was already making my way back inside, eager to get out of this place.

   "Angelo?" I called out.

There were a few shattered picture frames and vases, shards of glass covering parts of the floor.

   "Everything's fine!" He answered.

That's not usually a good thing.

He stood leaning against a kitchen counter, looking like he hadn't done anything at all.

   Where's Nick?

"So what do you want to do for dinner?" He asked nonchalantly as he loosened his tie.

   "What happened in here?"

"Gino said something about pizza earlier. Do you want your usual?"

He stopped talking when I stood in front of him.

The only thing that was between us was Nicks motionless body.

   Oh great.

"What did you do?" I asked as I looked at the counter, it being very clear where his head was hit.

"I didn't do anything." He shrugged.

"Then why does he look halfway dead?"

"He's not halfway dead. See, look." He lightly kicked him, making Nick let out a groan. "It's still alive."

"Barely." Nicholas grumbled as he rolled over, clutching his head, a bruise on the side of it beginning to form.

"You should've known that he doesn't like being talked back to."

"Nick!" Adaline and Violet came running to him.

"I'm fine." He tried to stand up, only to barely be able to even sit up.

I didn't want to stay here for much longer.

As much as I hated to admit it, it hurt that my mother left me for this.

We could have figured something out.

She could have helped me find Angelo.

She could have stayed with Nick and Violet while I stayed with my father.

She didn't have to lie.

"Can we leave?" I asked Angelo.

He looked at me for a few moments.

"Yeah. Go get your coat. You left it in the office."

Thank god.

I kept my eyes down as I walked back up the stairs, not wanting to have to see those pictures again.

    There it is.

I grabbed my black coat, shrugging it on before turning towards the door.

"You're so ungrateful."

Excuse me?

"Violet, we just met."

"Can't you see that Adaline and my dad are going through enough right now?" She asked, raising her voice after closed the door.

   Not this again.

"Violet, to be completely honest, I don't care."

"Of course you don't. Your just a spoiled kid."

Don't let her get to you.

"I'm sorry that you think that. Why don't you talk to Angelo about it, I'm sure he'd love that."

"Maybe I will." She glared. "You aren't even strong enough to keep your mother around, much less be apart of the mafia."

   What the hell?

"I'm not doing this right now." I shook my head.

I began to make my way to the door.

"What? Too scared?"

"You've seen my dad. Trust me, I'm not worried."
