"Cora, we're about to land." I heard, but didn't realize what was going on.

"Cora." I felt a hand rub up and down my arm, so my eyes shot open and a pair of striking blue eyes were looking straight at me.

"Already?" I asked, then noticed a blanket over me.

"Where'd this come from?"

"You looked cold, so I covered you.  We have to buckle up and get ready for landing." He said.

When I sat up, I realized he was almost kneeling down in front of me.

"Thank you." I gave him a sleepy smile and stretched, and that's when I noticed his eyes planted right on my boobs.  Oops, he got busted, and he knew it, because he stood and cleared his throat.

"The penthouse isn't far." He said.

He sat down, and I looked over at him.  "I thought you said you didn't know anyone out here "

He buckled up, then looked over at me. "I met Phillip about two years ago during a business deal, he never knew my sister.  You should buckle up."

I did as instructed and soon we landed.  His security team exited first and, of course, Mr. Chivalry guided me off the jet like I don't know how to walk or follow on command.  I just let it go, because I realize this is just him and how he was raised.

We got into one of the two black SUVs that were waiting for us on the tarmac and quickly we're on our way.  He didn't say much during our drive, and dead air drives me absolutely insane.

"Have you ever been to Seattle?" I asked.

He frowned.  "Yes, which is strange now that I'm aware she was here for all that time.  I was here three years ago and again six months ago."

Damn, he was so close.

"Have you heard from the detectives, have they said we can enter her home?" He asked, and I shook my head.

"No, Franks sent me a text making sure I was okay, but he hasn't said anything about the house," I said.

He smirked.  "Franks, huh?"

"Oh, stop it." I shook my head, then looked out the window.

"What are you going to say when he asks you to dinner, which he will by the way?" He asked.

I looked at him.  "I would say, I'm thankful for the invitation, but dating isn't an option at the moment." I looked back outside hoping he would catch the hint.  I don't want to talk about dating at the moment.  What am I supposed to say?  Nobody will want me because I'm knocked up?  I'm sure his already low impression of me would drop to well below zero.

Things were quiet and awkward, which made me glance at him a few times.  It's hard to believe under that cold exterior there is actually a caring man, and I know he is breaking to pieces on the inside.  Obviously, my best friend caused his family a lot of stress, and now sorrow.

I felt his eyes on me, and I tried to act like I didn't know.  "Cora, I do want you to know I'm thankful she had you, and I'm very sorry she put you in this situation." He said.

I turned my head and a small smile crept up on my face.  "Thank you, but she was like family to me.  I don't know how I should feel about any of this, but one thing that's sure, is how much she was loved.  She may have kept secrets from me, ones that could be damaging, but I still care."

He gave me a smile back.  "I know you do, it's obvious.  I just can't say I'm very happy with her for bringing you into this situation.  I know I shouldn't say that because she can't defend her actions, but this is life and death.  It's serious, and she shouldn't have put your safety at risk."

"It's okay, what's done is done. All that matters now is locating her child. Then maybe your entire family can find peace." I said as his eyes grew soft.

"I'm not sure my parents will ever find peace, but maybe finding their only grandchild will give them some closure." He said.

"What if the child is safely adopted into a loving family?  Would you really want to disrupt that?" I asked, and he shook his head.

"No, want and need are two different things.  I wouldn't want to disrupt the child's life, but something has to be done to protect them." He said.

"What if we are leading him to your niece or nephew, we could be doing more harm then good?" I asked again, I've asked this question on one other occasion.

"If he or she is adopted and safe, we'll assign security.  They will be similar to what you have, but if the child is just hidden with someone she knows, we will have to intervene." He said.

I really am worried we might be bringing more trouble than help.  We pulled into a parking garage where even more security was waiting.  He helped me out, and one of the security men spoke as we walked toward the elevator.  He said the penthouse checked out and where security would be placed.  They tightened up security since we are closer to her life.  I stood in the elevator with a stone-cold Blaine and two other security men.

I hate this, I hate every moment, because my best friends child is out there somewhere and possibly in danger,  but mine is right here living in danger before he or she has even taken it's first breath.
