Blaine's POV

I looked at Mom and we both shook our heads at what we are witnessing. Will is teaching Dad to play his video game while we are flying to Cincinnati. I had one stop to make after we left my parents, but we're making good time.

"Dammit!" Dad cursed when he must have lost a life or whatever happens in those games.

"You have to have patience," Will said, and I looked over at Mom.

"He's lost his marbles," I said, and she laughed.

"He's just happy to meet his grandson. I'm sure once Cora has that baby it'll get worse. Your father always loved children." She said.

"Like hell he did, you both were always working when we were kids," I said.

"We made time, Blaine. Don't you remember all those family vacations?" She asked.

"Yeah, but that was just a few times a year," I said.

"You're just spoiled." She lifted her magazine and continued reading.

Spoiled?  Is that what you call a young man with the weight of the world on his shoulders?

Well, they did buy me that Viper on my 16th birthday.  Oh, and that sailboat my 17th, a...nevermind, she's right, I am spoiled.

I was going to use this time to get some long-neglected work done, but I couldn't stop thinking about Cora.  I shut my eyes and allowed the memory of her beautiful eyes and contagious laugh to keep me company.  I bought her ring on our way to the airport.  I got the biggest and most beautiful one, well, mom helped me choose it, but still, Cora will probably say I spent too much.

I can't wait to see her smiling face.  Mom and Dad are checking into a hotel in the city, while Will and I go to Cora's.  I hope making love to her tonight won't be too awkward with a kid in the house.  It's too bad, because I can't help but dream about her gorgeous body.  We'll just have to keep it down and not get too carried away.

I looked at my phone and we are about fifteen minutes from landing.  Dad is still cursing the child's game he is playing, and mom is still reading her magazine.  She's terribly relaxed for what she will be facing tomorrow.

My phone rang and it's my security.  "This is Blaine.' I answered.

"Sir, this is Noah from your security team."

"Yes?"

"Sir, there's been an incident at the home of Miss Ashley."

"What kind of incident?" I stood up and so did my father.

"A gentleman arrived and she said he was clear to enter her home.  Unfortunately, the man held Miss Ashley and her brother hostage with a knife." He said.

"Is she okay?" My heart is pounding as I made my way to the back of the jet with my father right behind me.

"She does have a deep wound to her throat, but she's okay physically.  Emotionally, she's a mess." He said.

"What happened?" My father is listening as I held the phone.

"The perpetrator held a knife to her throat until there was some kind of commotion.  The swat team eliminated the suspect during this time by delivering a fatal shot to the head." He said.

"Who was it?" I asked.

"He hasn't been identified, but I did overhear her say it's the father of her baby."

My blood began to boil.

"How the fuck did he manage to get a weapon into that house?"

"I've yet to have determined an answer to that question." He said.

"Meaning your men weren't doing their fucking jobs!" I yelled, and Dad told me to keep it down.

"She's okay, but tramatized.  She's asking for you, but she's also in shock.  Her brother is with her at the hospital now.  It's going to be a long night, as the police will be questioning her as soon as the baby checks out and they're done sewing her up." He said.

"What hospital?" I asked.

"University, we will have a team meet you at Lunkin Airport." He said.

"I swear to God, I've never seen such a group of worthless men.  Because of your team, she could have died.  I'll deal with all of you after I make sure she's okay."

I turned to my father after I hung up the phone.  "I want every one of those men fired."

"What happened?" He asked.

I told him the story and he took a seat.  "Do you think any of this has to do with Cassidy?"

I told him what she did with Gray earlier.

"I guarantee is swings back to her," I said.  "I loved her, don't get me wrong, but she stirred up trouble everywhere she went," I said.

Dad shook his head.  "It's all just too much.  Be careful what you say to your mother, she's putting up a good act, but she's fragile right now."

"Dad, I almost lost Cora.  It's going to be damn hard to hide that from Mom." I said.

I dialed my phone.  "Who are you calling now?"

"I want two cars waiting.  One for the three of you and one to take me to the hospital.  I booked you a suite, so there shouldn't be any problems keeping Will with you tonight." I said.

Security picked up and I told them what I wanted, then called the security agency to give them an earful.

Our jet landed, and I told Will he was staying with his grandparents tonight.  I needed to get to Cora as quickly as possible.  I can only pray that she and the baby are okay.
