Cora

I woke up to Amelia and Mom telling me to get out of bed.

"We have places to be, sunshine." Mom said as she drew back my curtains.

"Not before a good breakfast." Amelia brought me breakfast in bed and set the tray down.

"Wow, what time did you two wake up?" I stretched.

"I got here about and hour ago so your mom and I could make breakfast," Amelia said.

"How is our grandbaby this morning?" Mom asked.

"Fine, I guess, but I'm already anxious," I said.

"Carter called from your brother's house, he got them up early for another game of golf.  He said Blaine was climbing the walls already when he got there this morning." She sat down on my bed as I started eating.

"You two are amazing," I said when I took a bite from my muffin.

"You'll notice under your plate there is a note from Blaine." She said.

"A note?" I lifted my plate and saw an envelope with Blaine's perfect handwriting.

"My Dearest Cora," it said.

"We will give you a moment, but when you're done eating, you need to take a relaxing bath." She said.

"Not too hot though, it's not good for the baby." Mom said as the duo left my room.

I opened Blaine's letter and started reading.

"Once upon a time, a man who never really learned how to live, took an appointment with two incompetent cops, but didn't expect who entered his office.  At that moment, and for the first  time in his life, he saw his future.  She stood before him and took his breath away.  He knew in an instant his life was about to change forever.

She was a little rough around the edges and cursed like a sailor, but it never mattered.  He wanted to be more like her and finally live his life knowing he had a bright future with the most beautiful women he has ever seen.

Today is the day she will once again stand before him, but this time he promises her everything.  I love you, Cora, and I cannot wait to see your beautiful smile.  Unfortunately, before that can happen, I have a few errands for you to run.  Please finish your breakfast, relax in a warm bath, but please do not get the water too hot.  Your mother says it's bad for our baby.  Then, I need you to go to the address inside this envelope.  I will see you when we promise each other forever."

I shook my head and laughed, that man is something else.  He is still conservative and old fashioned, but at the same time, he rocks my world.

I quickly finished my breakfast and filled my tub for a relaxing bath.  I checked to make sure my belly didn't pop out last night, then sighed in relief it's still the same.  Mom keeps freaking me out when she says it will just kinda pop out one day.  I was hoping today wasn't that day.

I tried to relax, but I am much too excited to just sit in a warm bath.  My hairdresser said not to wash my hair this morning, so I just put it in a ponytail and threw on a button-up shirt and pair of jeans.  Thank God they still fit.  Mom came in and pulled my dress out of the bag and hung it up, while Amelia made my bed.  These ladies are cracking me up today.

"We finally got Jessica up and moving.  Blaine's driver is outside waiting for us." Mom said.

I guess these people must have a service they call to hire drivers.  It's really weird.

We all piled into the large SUV and I handed the driver the address Blaine sent in his letter.

"You two must know this secret." I tried to pull it out of our mom's.

"I was sworn to secrecy." Mom said.

"Same here." Amelia acted like she was turning a key over her lips.

"Well, I don't know what the hell is going on." Jessica said, and we all started laughing.  We filled her in and she's up to date now.

"I'm supposed to put this sleep mask over your eyes." Amelia said.

"Seriously?" I groaned.

"Yes, now lean forward." I did as told and my world went dark.  It wasn't long and the car stopped.  The girls helped me out and told me to take three large steps, then took my mask off.

I saw a huge red bow on a door that is attached to somebody's house.

"What is this?" I asked, and Amelia handed me another envelope.

My sweet girl,

In a few months, you will be bringing a new life into this world.  I appreciate all the sacrifices you have made to live in New York, but we need a home near your home.  This isn't just a house, its the place we will bring our baby home from the hospital.  We should be near your family during that time, and I am also aware you took that job to be close to home.  We will make many memories in this place and will split our time as much as possible.  Your next task is to use this key to find your wedding gift."

"My wedding gift?  This house isn't enough?" I laughed.

"Wait, he bought you a house?" Jessica is a little slow after a night of drinking.

"Chop chop, we have appointments to make." Mom said.

I used the key from the envelope and opened the door to this magnificent home.  There is no furniture yet, but I'm excited to get it put together.  On the kitchen counter, I saw a large velvet box with a bow.

I slowly opened it, and inside was a magnificent diamond earring, necklace, and bracelet set.  It's so beautiful I'm afraid to touch it.

"It's beautiful." I wiped a tear away.

"My son really outdid himself." Amelia said.

I smiled.  "He always does."
