Cora

I've been in New York only a few days, but Blaine has kept us pretty busy. I had to find a doctor and make an appointment, and there is an event this weekend I needed a dress for, then he took me and Will out to look at some land to build a house, while I plan our wedding with Amelia and remotely with my mother.  Our wedding is in three weeks, so my mother is flying in on Monday to go dress shopping.  Blaine's housekeeper Emma is keeping Will today while Amelia and I try to find me a dress for the ball.  To say I am less than enthusiastic, is an understatement.

Blaine had talked about some kind of emergency board meeting his father called about his former wife. I really don't even want to know, I've had enough drama lately to last a lifetime.

Amelia and I sat on a sofa at some high-class boutique after my measurements were taken, and the sales girls brought one dress after another for me to decide what to try on.

"I'm bloated and none of these dresses will cover it up," I said, and she smiled.

"You're pregnant, Cora.  From here on out, you're going to feel bloated, but you're glowing and your figure is gorgeous.  When I was pregnant with Blaine, I swelled up everywhere, even my ankles were swollen." She said.

"How is that supposed to make me feel better?" I asked, and she laughed a little.

"Pregnancy is beautiful, you are a gorgeous girl and it suits you.  Right now, the only one that thinks you're bloated, is you. All of these dresses are perfect, Cora.  Just try on a few." She said.

"Fine." I groaned.

It took an hour and I just picked one.  I want to get out of here, because Amelia promised me some chicken nuggets and fries.

"You are so funny, Cora.  I haven't been to McDonald's for years." She laughed.

I shrugged.  "I never craved this food in my life," I said as I popped a nugget in my mouth.

"I can't tell you how much I have missed the more simple things in life." She said.

This brought us to another conversation.

"I told Carter I want just a simple event for Cassidy.  This spring, we will take her to the ocean and set her free.  I can't thank you enough for returning our daughter to us." She said.

"Amelia, I am so sorry it didn't end with a happier outcome."

She shook her head.  "We have Will and another grandchild coming.  Not everything ends the way we pray for them to end, but there is still a great outcome.  I hope you and my son have many happy years, and your marriage is blessed with even more children." She said.

I nodded as I took a drink of my water.  "Yes, Blaine and I will have more children.  I want to give that to him, Amelia.  I know it means a lot to him." I said.

She gave me a smile and more kind words, before her driver took me home.  My dress will have some alterations, mainly because my boobs are getting huge.  Will was showing me how to play a game on his Switch, when Blaine came home.

"How was your day?" He bent over and pecked my lips.

"Good, your mom took me to McDonald's," I said, and he paused.

"That was the highlight of your day?" He looked down at me as Will got up to go to the bathroom.

I shrugged.  "My boobs are too big for any of the dresses."

He smiled.  "They're perfect," he said, and wiggled his eyebrows.

I laughed. "You won't be saying that when my belly is so big you can't put your arms around me."

"You will always be beautiful." He reached over and held my hand after he sat next to me on the couch. "How are the wedding plans coming along?  Do you need my help?" He asked, and I shook my head.

"The moms have it handled.  Mine is even staying with yours when she gets here next week." I said.

He smiled.  "I think our moms have struck up a friendship." He said as he looked down at our hands.

"My mom might just remind her of home," I said.

"I think all this planning and becoming a grandmother again is helping my mom through losing Cassidy." He said.

I nodded. "Yes, I think so, too.  She told me her plans for Cassidy's ashes today.  I think it's fitting to Cassidy's personality." I said.

He nodded.  "My father told me, and I agree." He said.

"I feel like cooking dinner, but there's no food here, can we go to the grocery?" I asked, and batted my lashes at him.

"Are you serious?  That's the most you've asked of me since we got to New York." He said.

"Will needs a home-cooked meal," I said.

"No chicken nuggets?" He asked, and I thought about it for just a moment.

"They have those in the freezer section for backup, let's go." I got up, and he laughed at me.

Will was also excited to get some snacks in the house.  The food at the hotel was getting old, and it's not helping with the way I feel so fat.  We had a quiet evening at home, and all three of us curled up to a movie after dinner.  I looked at both my guys, and I'm starting to see a spark in both their eyes.  This is when I realized that everything is going to be okay.
