AVA POV:

It was Monday morning. Trust me that sentence alone was enough for even me to crawl back under my bed sheets and try to sleep. Simply because it's Monday.

Yesterday, Tommy and I flew the helicopter into the city for a meeting with a partnership of a large hotel organisation. It was good to get out of my common north shore area for the day. Sam was going to come, but apparently he needed to talk to Caleb about something. I don't know what. Although even that didn't help take my mind off the fact the Ashley Mac, is back at school today.

You have no idea, how much I want to punch Ashley's face in. Obviously I can't.

It was gym where she came in late, her hair dry even though there is small shower of rain going on outside. Every boy in my gym class stopped and watched as a smirk covered her face, and she walked flipping her blonde hair over her shoulder.

I scoffed silently.

"Ashley, you can go change quickly, and join us. You're already late" Mrs Hail states firmly, and I catch a sigh past through Mrs Hails lips as Ashley walks away smirking at the love struck boys. I'm glad at least someone knows how horrible Ashley is.

"Well get on with game!" Mrs Hail, blows her whistle knocking mostly everyone back into reality to continue with our game.

I cringe as Ashley comes out of the changing room wearing the shortest clothing possible, without this turning pornographic. The boys once again, stop playing just to stare at her.

I roll my eyes, and throw the dodge ball at myself, simply so I can get 'out' and take a seat somewhere where I don't have to watch freak show Ashley.

Mrs Hail watches me as I take a seat in the far corner of the gym and take out my phone. She doesn't comment, which I am thankful for. Instead she blows her whistle again and starts barking orders for Ashley to join a team, and scolding her at the same time for her inappropriate wardrobe.

They begin playing again, while I sit and play Candy Crush on my phone. Eventually I hear the advance of Mrs Hail as she makes her way towards me, and kneeling down in front of me.

I look up from my phone and give her a confused look. She half smiles. "Ava, are you okay?"

I smile inwardly. Mrs Hail has always been my favorite teacher. She actually cares about the students and I think that's what makes her likable. She looks out for me, even if sometimes I wish she didn't.

"I'm fine" I reply blankly.

"Ava, you know you can talk to me at anytime" She says smiling again.

I fake a smile back at her and don't reply.

She sighs and then stands back up to join the class.

She doesn't know it, but what she had just done. I will be forever grateful for.

"Holy crap! You're still a fat loner!" Ashley squeals, walking over to me. Catching the attention of the entire class, but not Mrs Hail.

I try ignore her, and continue playing Candy Crush. But it doesn't work, because she snatches my phone from my hand.

"It's been awhile little let down. I heard you have parent issues" She snares.

I stand up, and try and grab my phone back which she moves away.

I sigh which makes her smirk.

"Do your parents think your pathetic as well?" She asks, showing the only emotion of hate in her green eyes. I don't know what I did for her to hate me so much. Perhaps when I tipped a bottle of glue all over her hair. I snicker thinking about it.

"You still mute? Or are you actually going to try and defend yourself?"

I look down to show defeat.

She starts laughing, which sounds more like a witches cackle.

"Pathetic" She scoffs.

I feel pathetic letting her walk all over me.

"Ashley, the game is still going on! everyone get back in the game or you will run laps"

I look up and see a angry look from Mrs Hail directed towards Ashley.

Ashley smirks before throwing my phone onto the ground, and walking away.

I roll my eyes, pick up my phone and go get my bag. I don't feel like hanging around here, if I'm just going to be hassled and can't do anything about it.

I ignore the stares as I walk straight out of class. I think Mrs Hail was to stunned to say anything.

Thankfully my phone isn't cracked which I imagine was Ashley intention.

Shaking my head, I cross the field and make my way towards the cafeteria for lunch. Ashley was really late to school, which is surprising because she loves to make me and others like me life's miserable.

"What are you doing out early?" The snide comment from Adam was enough for me to literally sigh in frustration. I can't catch a break.

"Honestly not now Adam" I reply, picking up my pace as I cross the field.

"I'm guessing you caught up with Ashley?" I turn around and notice that Adam is alone.

I could take him down without it being suspicious.

"Yes, and I'm incredibly pissed off. So if you don't want me to  take my anger out on you. I suggest you scram" I threaten.

"Seriously? You think you can take me?" Adam looks surprised but chuckles, which makes me even angrier.

"Don't tempt me Adam" I say through gritted teeth.

"I hate how you try and threaten me, it seems like you can't understand that I will always be better than you" He shrugs, and smirks.

I have the itch to wipe that smirk off his face. Maybe just one punch. It's not like anyone is here.

Don't do it A.

Do it Ava.

Without really thinking I lunge forward and tackle Adam to the ground.

A rush, runs through my body and I can't stop.

Repeatedly punching his face until his nose begins bleeding I get up off him.

Adam stands up, and glares venomously at me.

I glare just as deathly back.

We circle each other, both anticipating who will fight first.

Eventually Adam runs at me. "YOU BITCH!!" His fist glides through the air, aiming for my temple. I duck and use this distraction as a chance to punch him in the stomach.

He groans at the impact, and stumbles away from me.

"Your parents raised a psycho" He mutters.

I grit my teeth. Flying forward, my fist makes contact with his jaw, and I hear a loud cracking sound. This feels so good.

Kicking him in the side, I begin punching left and right. As Adam struggles to stay conscious.

I could have knocked him unconscious immediately but decided against it.

Adam lies face down in the grass, holding his head and whimpering in pain.

He seriously wanted to join my gang?

Grabbing his leg, I bend it on a awkwardly angle, and dislocate it.

Smirking, I bend down to his level.

"If you ever come near me again, I will kill you" I whisper. Unsure if Adam heard it or not, because he may have passed out from the dislocation. Or I went to far and he is unconscious.

Standing up, I reposition my glasses and pick up my bag that had dropped during the fight. Straightening my clothes, I stand up straighter and walk off the field, feeling less angry as I had been before.

The bell rings, as I walk to the cafeteria. Adams blood is smeared over my hands. I scrunch up my nose and hide them in my sweatshirt.

Waiting in the cafeteria line, I get a bottle of water and an apple.

Everyone is talking about Ashley but I'm sure that will change when someone finds unconscious Adam. I'm not worried if Adam remembers I was the one who knocked him out, because I'm certain he won't say anything. Simply for his pride.

Ashley walks into the cafeteria, with Rachel and other girls I don't care to know. The boys all stop what they are doing and watch her. The girls all look with envy at her. Apart from me. All I'm worrying about is paying for the water and apple.

"Oh Ava, you finally decided to go on a diet. You obviously needed it" Ashley comments, making the cafeteria all erupt in laughter.

She takes a step towards me, and looks me up and down. Judging everything about me, just from her stare.

Only when her eyes, cast to someone behind me does the staring from her stop.

Her eyes widen in surprise, before she flips her hair over her shoulder and begins walking to someone behind me.

I turn and see Caleb in the doorway of the cafeteria. Hes standing with Sam. Both boys have never met Ashley, which in turn reasons as to why Ashley begins flirting with them.

Both boys are staring at me. Completely ignoring Ashley.

"Come here" Caleb says, his face blank.

I raise my eyebrow.

"Why?"

"Because we need to talk" He says gesturing to Sam  as well.

The cafeteria falls quiet, and everyone looks surprised.

His eyes move to my hidden hands and I wince. I should have cleaned my hands of Adam's blood before getting food.

"No" I reply. Knowing that he is just going to complain about how, If I need help to call him.

Everyone looks even more shocked, and I'm pretty sure I heard a gasp.

Walking away, I leave through a different exit. Feeling the stares from mostly every student in the school. I think even the cafeteria lady was staring at me.

I head straight to a bathroom, to clean my bloody hands.

Splashing water on my face. I exit and make my way to my locker.

Then I receive a text.

- We need to talk. Just you and me, it's important. ~ Sam

I look puzzled at the text, but agree anyway.

We meet at my locker, and Sam is alone.

"What is it?" I ask.

"Something has happened to Caleb" He says quietly.

"What do you mean? I just seen him" I reply, opening my locker and exchanging my books.

"Okay listen. The only reason I went to the gala was because Caleb wanted some backup for when he talked to Jackson"

I interrupt. "Did you know Caleb was going to the gala, is that why you didn't want me going?"

"Yes, but that's not the point. At the end of the night, he went to the bathroom and disappeared. I looked all night for him, but found him the next morning at his house. Now he is really distant" Sam explains.

"What do you mean distant?"

"I haven't seen him smile since Saturday. He is always spaced out, and loses his train of thought"

"Okay, so he was going to talk to Jackson. Who is Jackson?" I ask, trying to get to the bottom of this.

"I don't know, but its someone Caleb hasn't talked to in 6 years" Sam relies.

I think for a moment.

"Could Jackson have taken Caleb Saturday night?" I ask,

"That's what I was thinking. But Caleb won't talk about it. Claims he cant remember, which is a obvious lie"

I sigh, and rub my temple.

"Okay, don't worry we will work this out" I say, eating my apple.

"Oh and good job by the way" Sam says.

I raise my eyebrow.

"When you left, someone ran in saying Adam was unconscious on the field. Everyone is trying to work out who did it" He says chuckling.

"Dammit, I wanted to be there when everyone realized" I joke.

"I was wondering when you were going to snap" Sam says.

I roll my eyes. "I wouldn't call it snapping, I barely hurt him"

Sam laughs.

"How did you know it was me?" I ask.

"Caleb, noticed your hands and then we put to and to together when the kid came into the cafeteria".

I nodded slowly.

The bell rings, and students pile out of the Cafeteria and make there way to class.

"See you later" Sam says, grinning and then walking away.

Now I have to deal with Caleb and his strange behavior.

***

The rest of the day went slowly, I didn't see Ashley luckily.

Caleb seemed different in our biology class, he was spacing out when the teacher would call on him to answer a question. He was definitely in another place. I wish I could read minds.

He was out of class before I could talk to him, which is really usual.

I walked out of the school and watched as Caleb climbed into his car quickly. Then sped away.

Really really unusual.

I stared at the place his car was for moments after, until I realized how over-reacting I am being. He probably was ignoring me because he had organised a birthday party or something. Sam is just paranoid.

I began walking home to clear my head. Only to be stopped about a mile away from my house by strange behavior from a man walking a dog.

The man had his finger in his ear and was talking. Almost like he had an earpiece in. He watching me, I could tell his eyes were following me as I walked.

I was going to go investigate, and beat questions out of him. But I didn't think that would look good for a little nerd to take down a grown man.

The man, had sunglasses on, and was wearing jeans and a black shirt with a large black coat over top. I could see the begging of a tattoo from his neck going under his shirt. His dog, was a German Sheppard.

I shook my head and kept walking.

What is going on?
